Hearts winger Andrew Driver declares himself for Scotland
English-born youngster opts for north of the border
By Jamie Dunn
The highly-rated winger was born in England and represented his homeland at Under-21 level at last year's European Championship tournament.
A change in eligibility laws agreed by the four home nations of Britain however means that a player with five years of schooling in another country can represent their adopted nationality.
Levein is awaiting confirmation that Driver meets the required criteria, but revealed the young livewire is excited at the prospect of representing Scotland.
"Andy Driver gave me the nod yesterday that he is dead keen," Levein said, according to BBC Sport.
"I said 'Do you want to go away and think about it?' He said 'No, my mind is made up, I want to play for Scotland'.
"We need to find out he meets the criteria exactly, that it's five years schooling and not four years, 11 months and 26 days."
Levein will also include Rangers duo Kris Boyd and Alan McGregor in his squad to face the Czech Republic in a friendly in March.
Striker Boyd had previously become disillusioned with international football under former boss George Burley, while goalkeeper McGregor was banned for disciplinary reasons.
