Blackburn Rovers should be higher up the table - Sam Allardyce

Battlecry from 'Big Sam'...

By Adithya Ananth

Sam Allardyce - Newcastle
Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is unhappy with the performances put in by his charges, believing the team should be higher up the table than they are.

Rovers currently occupy the 11th spot in the standings, six points behind eighth-placed Birmingham City.

Now, as Allardyce's men prepare to take on Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, the gaffer has called on his players to deliver the goods and rake in three points following an outing against West Ham United that saw his side fire nothing but blanks.

"Our scoring of goals on chances created, and West Ham was the perfect example, is the reason why we are not now sat in the top eight or better," Allardyce said on the club's official website.

"That is the reason we aren't up there because our chances created to goals scored is far far too low.

"So whilst we are sat in a reasonable position in the league it could have been a lot, lot better.

"Particularly away from home, [our results against] West Ham, Sunderland, Hull City and Wigan [Athletic] away, are all coming back to haunt us.

"Yes we got points at all but one of those places but it should be three wins and a draw, not three draws and a defeat.

"But hopefully we'll get the finishing side right on Saturday as it makes life so difficult for us all if we don't put our chances away when we create them.

"If we could just grit our teeth and produce that bit more quality in front of goal then we'll continue on this undefeated run and put more wins together than draws."
