Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe was relieved to get past Leeds United and into the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.

The England international scored a hat trick as Spurs ran out 3-1 winners.

"That was a difficult game. A cup tie is always difficult," he told ITV Sport.

"Away from home it was a great performance from the lads, I am pleased with the win."

He added: "We stuck in and still passed the ball."

Manager Harry Redknapp has meanwhile challenged David Bentley to maintain his good form.

"He has come back and taken his opportunity. He has shown what a good player he is in the last couple of games and he needs to keep on doing that."

Bentley acknowledged that his spell at the club has not been pleasant so far, but is hoping he can begin enjoying himself.

"It has been a difficult time since I came here," the midfielder admitted.

"I just look to every game I play, look to take advantage and enjoy myself. I take it game by game, you never know in football.

"My time at Tottenham has been a hard one but hopefully I can start enjoying it now."
