West Ham United sporting director Gianluca Nani has quashed suggestions that the Londoners are preparing a bid for Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu.

The ex-Chelsea player has been linked with a move to Upton Park after his agent, Giovanni Becali, responding coyly to speculation about a possible return to the Premier League.

But Nani has swiftly denied that his club were interested in the Romanian, telling Violanews.com: "I would like to talk about serious things. I prefer not to say anything about Mutu."

"It's all rubbish. I'm saddened by all these voices which insist there's a deal.

"There's little respect and that's not right."

Nani also poured cold water over claims he was looking to bring Palermo custodian Rubinho to Upton Park.

"We are not interested in Rubinho - we have one of the England national team goalkeepers, why would we start to deal for another one?," he said, as quoted by mediterraneonline.it.
