Reports in the Egyptian media suggest that Al-Ahly have released Algerian teenager Amir Sayoud due to incidents relating to the recent international match between Egypt and Algeria.

Speaking to the club's official website recently, the player admitted that he even feared for his own life, such was the height of tension between the two nations: "I feel that I am in dangerous situation, I am sure there are some people want to kill me and now I can't leave my flat."

His agent has allegedly entered negotiations with Belgium club Lierse, whose interest in the player piqued upon realising that he is now effectively a free agent.

Sayoud, a playmaker by trade, was bought by Ahly in the summer.
