Rangers manager Walter Smith to stay at Ibrox
Another leading candidate rules out Scotland job......
By Lewis Jones
Rangers boss Walter Smith has ruled himself out of the running to return as Scotland manager for a second time.
Scotland's world ranking rose 70 places while Smith was at the helm but he has no interest in replacing George Burley.
Speaking to the Evening Times, he said: "After making the decision to leave Scotland at that time, I don't feel it would be right to go back and that is the situation.
"The fact is, I left the Scotland job of my own volition. Sometimes when you get the sack, it is actually easier to go back.
"But when you make your own decision to leave then it isn't that easy.
"I'd like to stress I have never been offered the Scotland job again. I haven't spoken to anyone at the SFA [Scottish Football Association].
"The matter is now closed as far as I am concerned."
