After tonight's draw, Liverpool find themselves in ninth position in the Premier League whilst Wigan are still in the relegation zone, a point away from safety.
Wigan Athletic 1-1 Liverpool. Roy Hodgson will be pleased that his side have kept their unbeaten run going but surely the Reds will see this as two points dropped. A bright Wigan performance will encourage Latic's fans, and provide a glimmer of hope that their team will be able to pick up more points soon. All in all a fair result, as although Liverpool will feel unlucky with Gerrard's shot off the bar, Wigan looked equally as likely to grab a winner themselves.
The game finishes all square as a late Liverpool corner comes to nothing.
90' + 2'
With just one minute left of three minutes of injury time, Steven Gerrard's pass into the Wigan area is easily cut out.
Wigan midfielder Mohamed Diame appears to be suffering with cramp as we approach the last few minutes of the match. Roy Hodgson is shown encouraging his side rather manically.
Franco Di Santo
Franco Di Santo comes on for the impressive Hugo Rodallega.
Charles N'zogbia weaves in from the right hand side but his left-footed shot from distance is comfortably saved by Pepe Reina.
Roy Hodgson is placing his faith in Liverpool's young guns tonight. 19 year-old Nathan Eccleston comes on for Maxi Rodriguez.
Steven Gerrard hits the crossbar! The Liverpool captain finds himself in space on the right hand side of Wigan's penalty. His powerful shot beats Al Habsi but doesn't get past the woodwork as it crashes off the under-side of the bar.
Just seconds after his disallowed goal, Dirk Kuyt is taken off for midfielder Christian Poulsen. Interesting change by the Reds.
Liverpool goal disallowed!! From a Gerrard corner, the ball is cleared to Jonjo Shelvey who's shot is deflected into the path of Dirk Kuyt. The Dutchman manages to put the ball into the net but is found, correctly, to have been in an offside position.
Substitution for Wigan as Victor Moses comes on for Jordi Gomez.
Maynor Figueroa, who has been known to score the occasional wonder-goal, has an attempt from distance. However, on this occasion the defender's long-range shot goes a couple of yards over the bar.
With the way Wigan are confidently passing the ball around at the moment you would think it was they that had won their last three games and not Liverpool. A very cold looking Damien Comolli watches on with a grim face.
Yellow CardJamie Carragher
A free kick is awarded for a foul on Hugo Rodallega by Jamie Carragher which sees the Liverpool defender go into the referee's notebook. However, Jordi Gomez's shot on goal is blocked well by Martin Kelly.
Liverpool fail to cut out a ball into their area which is met by both Rodallega and Pepe Reina, neither gets a touch to the ball but nearly collide with each other. The Wigan striker was far too honest there and could really have had a decent shout for a penalty had he gone to ground.
WIGAN GOAL!!! Ronnie Stam's cross is palmed away by Pepe Reina, but it falls stright in to the path of Hugo Rodallega who dispatches the ball for the equaliser.
Back underway at the DW and Liverpool have made a half-time change with Jonjo Shelvey coming on for Raul Meireles.
Half-time at the DW Stadium. Liverpool go into the break a goal up but they will not be resting on their laurels. Wigan showed enough of a threat in the first period to have Reds manager Roy Hogson concerned.
Ronnie Stam gets forward well again and puts a great low ball into the Liverpool box, however Rodallega's faint touch puts the ball wide of the post.
Wigan have a goal disallowed!! Lucas plays a terrible ball across midfield which is cut out by N'Zogbia who then drives towards the edge of the Liverpool box before exchanging passes with Rodallega and tapping home. However the linesman puts his flag up to signal that Rodallega was offside and the home team still trail.
Wigan are exerting more and more pressure on the Liverpool goal as Charles N'Zogbia dances into their visitor's box. However, he can't find the room to get a shot away.
That's better from Wigan. Ronnie Stam puts a teasing ball across the Liverpool box but no-one from the home side can latch on to it.
Steven Gerrard shoots at goal from inside the area but it goes harmlessly over the bar.
Yellow CardLucas Leiva
Booking for Lucas. The Brazilian midfielder goes in to the referee's notebook for a foul on Wigan's Mohamed Diame.
LIVERPOOL GOAL!!! It's those two again. Fernando Torres runs on to a brilliant through ball by Steven Gerrard before slotting home to the left of Wigan 'keeper Al Habsi. The Spaniard definitely seems to have recovered from his poor form earlier in the season.
Liverpool get us up and running in their all red strip, playing from left to right.
If you like a bet, put your money on Steven Gerrard or Fernando Torres to be involved in any goals scored by the visitors. The pair have either assisted or scored all of the Reds goals since the opening day of the season.
Tonight's match sees two teams in completely contrasting form. New ownership seems to have agreed with the Anfield club, who have won their last three Premier League games. Meanwhile Wigan have lost their last two, haven't won in four and only have one victory in their last eight Premier League matches.
And the Liverpool team is.... Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Konchesky, Meireles, Gerrard, Lucas, Maxi, Kuyt, Torres. Subs: Hansen, Jovanovic, Ngog, Spearing, Poulsen, Shelvey, Eccleston.
Let's start with the Wigan lineup.... Al Habsi, Stam, Gary Caldwell, Alcaraz, Figueroa, Thomas, Diame, Cleverley, Gomez, N'Zogbia, Rodallega. Subs: Kirkland, Di Santo, Watson, Boselli, Moses, Steven Caldwell, McArthur.
