Ali Al Habsi
The 'keeper had one shot to save in the first half as Duff was released in behind the Wigan defence but the Omani international came out quickly and saved well with his legs.
Looked to play the ball out of defence whenever he could but there were very few options available to him which meant lots of passes across the back line to his central defensive partner Alcaraz. The lively Fulham strikeforce kept him busy but they rarely put him under a lot of pressure.
Solid at full-back, he handled the attentions of Davies well and linked up nicely with the midfielders in front of him to create some nice openings for the home side.
Looked much more comfortable on the right side of midfield and showed how much he loves to get forward with a solid display. He created a wonderful chance for Rodallega in the 27th minute but the striker could only head against the post. Replaced by McArthur in the 73rd minute.
Defensively the full-back did OK against Duff but it was going forward where he contributed the most. He looked to get up alongside, and beyond, N’Zogbia whenever he could and gave Wigan a real threat down the left wing.
The centre half rarely looked tested by Dempsey and Kamara but Wigan’s tendency to play the ball out of the defence on the floor showed the Paraguayan’s limitations on the ball, much more comfortable in the air.
Tough tackling midfielder was constantly battling with Murphy and Etuhu for control of the ball, of Wigan’s three midfielders he was the most defensive but his role within the team is vital to allow Watson and Diame to push forward.
Got stuck in alongside Thomas but also tried to get forward and support Rodallega whenever he could, some neat flicks and link ups with N’Zogbia but nothing that was going to cause major trouble to the Fulham defence.
Lively throughout and always thinking about going forward with the ball whenever he received it, a constant threat to the Fulham back line. The Frenchman lifted the home crowd every time he got the ball and a mazy run in the second half very nearly created a second goal.
The midfielder was full of energy for the whole match and was the home side’s creative force in the centre of midfield. He showed good awareness to always find a man with his passes, and delivered a dangerous ball to Stam in the first half which lead to Rodallega’s chance.
He was unlucky with an early volley following a Figueroa cross, he met the cross perfectly but couldn’t direct the ball on target. He was closer with his second chance of the match but from Stam’s cross he could only head against the post. He finally got his goal in the 58th minute as he read a long ball from Al Habsi and then showed excellent awareness to lob Stockdale from seven yards.
Was left watching as Rodallega hit the post in the first half but otherwise he was not tested by a goal shy Wigan forward line. Was not at fault for Rodallega's goal, it was a quick bit of thinking from the striker and left the goalkeeper stranded.
Was given a tough time by the lively Stam down the right wing and struggled at times to keep up with the quick winger.
Had a tough time up against the lively N’Zogbia and Figueroa supporting from full back, needed the support of Duff to contain the two Wigan men but struggled when he was caught two-on-one.
Had a reasonably easy first half although he should have been closer to Rodallega for his two chances, otherwise he was able to work with Hangeland to control Rodallega and deal with the midfield runners. Mistimed the flight of a long ball in the second half which allowed Rodallega in and to lob Stockdale for the Wigan goal.
The Fulham captain struggled against the strength of Diame, Thomas and Watson but when he did get on the ball he was able to keep his passes simple and to a Fulham shirt.
Had a great chance to open the scoring in the 32nd minute after a perfect through ball from Dempsey, but the Irishman’s shot lacked power and Al Habsi was able to save easily with his legs. Otherwise he was not in the game as much as Hughes would have liked with Figueroa able to keep him under control easily.
The midfielder battled hard with the Wigan midfield and was competitive in winning the ball for Murphy.
Rarely provided anything in the first half down the left hand side, he was kept under control by Gohouri. Made a good run in the second half which created a chance for Dempsey but was replaced by Johnson as Fulham went all out attack.
The American worked hard to create chances and to make space for his team mates but his work mostly was unable to create and clear opportunities for his colleagues.
He made good runs for his midfielders to find him with through balls but he was caught offside on many of the occasions much to the frustration of his manager on the touchline. Replaced by Dembele after the Wigan goal as Hughes looked for something different up front.
- 38 N. Etheridge
- 3 C. Salcido

Replaced Kamara but struggled to link up with Dempsey and cause trouble for the Wigan defence.
- 7 S. Sidwell
Replaced Davies but was unable to get into the game initially but had the impact his manager would have wanted as he controlled a pass from Dempsey and fired into the back of the net with four minutes to play despite Al Habsi's best efforts.
