  • Strikes from Jonas, Soldado, Piatti and Tino Costa hand Valencia a comfortable 4-1 win in the Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg clash. Next week is the second leg. A spot in the semi-finals looks certain for the home side after a dominant performance.

    GoalTino Costa
Goal Valencia! Tino Costa! 4-1! On the counter, poor execution sees Feghouli with the ball on the right side the box. Instead of cutting in, the French youngster plays the Argentine at the top of the box, where he takes a long touch before firing a shot as defenders attempted to block. The ball hit off a defender and flew over Navas and into the net.
  • 90' + 4'
That's it! Game over! What a victory for Los Che.

  • 87'
Diego Alves! What a save! Kone is sent through into the box and drills a shot that was headed for the upper right corner, but the Brazilian knocks it out for a corner. Brilliant save!

  • 79'
    Yellow CardNabil El Zhar
  • 78'
No red card after all for Jordi Alba in a confusing event as he remains on the pitch. Many await an explanation. Haven't seen that before.
  • 76'
    Yellow CardSofiane Feghouli
  • 76'
Litlte under 15 minutes remaining and things are getting physical. These two clubs clearly don't like each other.
  • 74'

  • 73'
    Yellow CardRoberto Soldado
  • 72'
    SubstitutionRoger Martí Rafa Jordá
  • 72'
Final change for Levante. Roger is off as Rafa Jorda comes on.
  • 70'
Free kick for Valencia on the left sees Rami nearly head home a cross from Tino Costa. The French defender skied for the ball, but the ball was off target by a couple yards.
  • 68'
    SubstitutionPablo Hernández Sofiane Feghouli
  • 68'
Pablo's day is done after setting up three goals. The young winger came up limping while controlling the ball. Hamstring surely. Feghouli comes on to replace him.
  • 66'
Solid opportunity from a set piece for Levante, but a curling cross into the area finds the first row of supporters. The poor display from the visitors continues. Imagine where they would be without Kone's world-class strike.
  • 64'
Bit of credit needs to go to the Valencia defence. The defenders are holding their shape well and making things difficult for the visitors. Rami is playing tough and smart alongside Ruiz.
  • 61'
Long-range effort from Pablo flies over the goal as Valencia have trouble building up.
  • 59'
Back and forth play sees neither team doing much of anything other than an occasional foul as 30 minutes remain.

Yellow card to Roger, who hacked Jordi Alba on the counter.
  • 54'
    Yellow CardGustavo Daniel Cabral
  • 54'
Jonas looks to play in a quick, clever ball towards the box, but his effort is poor, flying out for a goal kick.
  • 51'
Bit of a snoozing start to this second half as Valencia are now playing the ball around at the back, eating up a bit of time.
  • 49'
Valencia are looking for more, hoping to add to the two-goal advantage. Levante are pushing down the right but are having trouble getting past Jordi Alba. The goal by Piatti before the break really changed the feel of the game.
  • 47'
Nice ball from Pablo, who sent Jonas through into the box, but the Levante custodian cleans it up. The winger is having a wonderful game, setting up all three Valencia goals.
  • 46'
    SubstitutionKeylor Navas Gustavo Munúa
  • 46'
    The second half has begun.
  • The team is back on the pitch for the second half. Here we go.
  • The second half will begin shortly.
  • 3-1 at the break as Piatti's late goal gives Valencia a little breathing room. The Argentine is slow to get up and it remains to be seen if he comes back in the second half. We shall see.
  • 45' + 1'
    GoalPablo Piatti
GOAL VALENCIA! Seconds before the break! Piatti scores, but he is hurt. At what cost was this goal? A long shot from Costa hits off a defender and falls to the feet of Pablo, who, from the edge of the box, curls in a low cross to the far left post where Piatti makes contact with the ball and Navas, lifting the ball into the net.
  • 45'
    One minute of added time.
  • 43'
Levante clear a corner from the right and take their time on a throw-in as they await the whistle.
  • 41'
Few minutes to go here in the first half and Valencia are looking for more. Corner.
  • 39'
Hard to explain just how important that goal could be. It was a brilliant strike, surely one of the top goals of the tournament. Emery can't believe it on the side as the team's first real chance results in a wonderful goal.
  • 37'
    GoalArouna Kone
Oh my, Levante have got one back! It's 2-1! Kone fires home with one touch from the top of the box, what a wicked volley! A headed clearance by Valencia sees Pallardo settle the ball, and the striker then takes control on a bounce, drilling it into the top-left corner. Crucial away goal there!
  • 35'
70 percent of possession for Valencia with just 10 minutes to go before the break. It's been a dominant performance.
  • 33'
    Yellow CardXavi Torres
  • 33'
Well, it's two goals in seven minutes and Emery's guys are in complete control. The Levante defenders are having trouble keeping up with the speed of Valencia.
  • 31'
    GoalRoberto Soldado
Goal Valencia! It's Soldado! 2-0 now! Pablo took the ball down the right, crossing in a low effort from the end-line, looking for Jonas, but the ball ended up at the feet of Javi Venta right in front of goal. The defender's poor touch found an oncoming Soldado on the right, and the former Real Madrid man finished calmly from close, needing only one touch.
  • 28'
Valencia win a corner and nearly find a second with a flurry of chances, with Jonas nearly doubling up with a volley that was saved from close. It took Levante a bit of time to clear the ball, but they successfully eliminated the threat after a barrage of crosses.
  • 26'
The hosts are nothing short of deserving of the slim advantage as they have been superior in the opening portion of the game. Levante are on their heels now, having failed to really settle into the contest.
  • 24'
    GoalJonas
GOAL VALENCIA! 1-0! After poor play in the attacking half, it's Jonas who puts Los Che into the lead. On the counter, Pablo Hernandez played a short, low ball straight towards the right side of the box to find the Brazilian, who was barely onside. The striker tried his luck, firing low past Navas into the left side of the goal.
  • 23'
Levante win their first corner of the game, and a cross towards the front post is cleared. Valencia go on the counter.
  • 21'
Alves gets another touch on the ball as the defence plays back. Boring night for the Brazilian, but I'm sure he will take it.
  • 20'
The hosts lose the ball on the counter, allowing the visitors to march towards goal, but they do the same seconds later as a poor pass from Kone is cleared.
  • 18'
Free kick near midfield for Levante after a foul by Jordi Alba. A long ball finds the Spanish defender, who sends Valencia on the counter.
  • 16'
A lovely little scoop of the ball sees Barragan beat a defender to infiltrate the box on the right, but his following shot ruined it all, finding row v in the stands, rather than the goal.
  • 14'
What a wasted chance there for Los Che, who went on the counter. Jordi Alba slid on the side to find Soldado towards goal, and the striker made a nice cut inside, playing to the feet of Jonas. The Brazilian, facing the goal from outside the box, took a poor touch as he tried to cut back and lost control.

  • 12'
El Zhar comes on to replace Barkero.
  • 10'
Ouch, Barkero is injured. He pulled up quickly while chasing the ball and looks to have strained a muscle. 10 men for Levante at the moment as a sub is set to come on.
  • 8'
In the early going, Valencia look impressive. They are controlling the ball and the tempo, not allowing their visitors to settle in.
  • 6'
Valencia fail to manage a solid look on the set piece. But seconds later, Pablo almost fired Valencia ahead with a bullet effort from outside the box, one that flew just wide of the far post. It appeared to be heading in.
  • 4'
Great effort from Soldado after a poor clearance by Navas. The former Getafe man grabbed the ball at the corner, hustling towards goal, but he was taken down just prior to entering the box.
  • 2'
Valencia get the match's first shot from Jonas, who at the top left of the box, cuts inside and looks for a curving effort to the far post, but Navas grabs the ball with ease.
  • 1'
    Here we go!
  • No real big surprises for either team. Pablo Piatti gets another chance to impress for Valencia though. The match is seconds away.
  • For Valencia: Alves; Barragan, Rami, Ruiz, Jordi Alba; Albelda, Tino Costa; Pablo Hernandez, Jonas, Piatti; Soldado.
  • The starting XI for the visitors: Navas; Venta, Ballesteros, Cabral, Juanfran; Iborra, Xavi Torres, Pallardo; Roger, Barkero, Kone.
  • The starting XI for each side to come in seconds. Who do you think will win the match? Let me know your thoughts on Twitter. Send messages to @RCGonzalez10
  • For those interested, the winner of this tie will take on the winner of the quarter-final clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid, which currently sees the Catalan club with a 2-1 advantage after yesterday's first leg.
  • These two teams have met this season, back in early November in league play. Unai Emery's side took the game 2-0, with a Javi Venta own goal and a strike from Alberto Costa, but the match was much closer than the score indicates.
  • Thanks for joining me for this contest, which is certain to be an interesting one. Though it's a cup tie and not La Liga action, you can sense just how big this game is when taking a glance at the domestic league standings. Valencia are third in Spain, while Levante are in fourth, both Champions League spots.
