Fulltime at the Mestalla. 1-1 is the result after a brilliant second half of football. The final whistle was met with Chelsea annoyance as they thought they should have been allowed to take a free-kick. Their protests ended with yellow cards for Cole and Mata.

Poor first touch by Soldado! Brilliant ball over the top of the Chelsea defence, but Soldado couldn't control it. If he had, he could have gone for goal or squared to Jonas.
What a chance for Chelsea, and what a save by Alves! Kalou did well to put Anelka through on goal, but his shot is well saved by Alves' right foot.
Penalty GoalRoberto Soldado
GOAL!!! Soldado finds the net from the penalty spot putting the ball into the bottom left-corner of the goal with Cech diving to his right.
Yellow CardSalomon Kalou
Penalty to Valencia!! Kalou is penalised for a handball from a Valencia corner. Soldado set to take the kick.
Great stop from Cech! Mikel loses possession outside the area and Canales finds Jonas with a lovely flick and the Brazilian goes for goal from range but Cech puts it wide.
Ferghouli has looked in the mood since coming on, but his effort from 25 yards goes comfortably over.
Dangerous ball in from the left by Canales there, but a flick on from a Chelsea defender takes the ball out of the path of the Valencia attackers.
Malouda should have doen better there! Chelsea looked to counter and eventually Malouda gets the ball in the area and is invited to shoot by Ruiz, but his effort was tame and Alves saves easily.
Just wide from Piatti! The attacker, on the inside-left part of the area plays a left-footed strike towards goal, but it just misses the far post.
Good effort by Feghouli. The Frenchman originally played a good ball over the defence fr Soldado, but the striker was forced to play back to Feghouli who went for goal from range. Despite taking a deflection, Cech makes the save.
Pablo Piatti with his first real involvement since coming off the bench. The little Argentine got in behind the defence, controlling brilliantly with his chest before volleying towards goal, but Cech tipped it over.
Chelsea fans wanting a penalty after Mata ran into Rami after some good footwork, but the referee wasn't having any of it and waves play on.
Risky play by Cech there as he came out to meet Soldado, but the striker knocked the ball past the shot-stopper and looked to cross, but Luiz cut it out inside the six-yard box.
Valencia coming back into the match after a spell of Chelsea dominance. Banega whips in a right-hand corner and Rami gets his head on it, but it goes harmlessly wide of Cech's right post.
Soldado so close to equalising as the striker gambles in behind the Chelsea defence, but his first touch wasn't great and Cech comes to tackle him at his feet. Very good opportunity.
Great run by Mata as he skips past three defenders before picking out Cole just to his left, but Cole's low cross is cut out well by Ruiz in the penalty area.
GOAL!!!! Chelsea take the lead! Frank Lampard was left unmarked as Malouda cuts the ball back from the goal-line and the England midfielder stroked his shot home.
So nearly an own-goal by Ruiz! The corner found it's way to the far post where the defender sent the ball back to his own goal, but Alves pulls off another marvellous save.
Fantastic save again by Alves!! Torres smashes a volley towards him from no more than 10 yards out, but the Brazilian palmed away to the right. Corner for Chelsea.
Another good stop by Alves, this time from Ramires as the midfielder was one-on-one with the'keeper but he stood up firmly and let Ramires' strike hit him.
Chance for Mathieu, but his half-volley is saved easily by Cech.
Great chance for Valencia! The La Liga side caught the visitors on the counter attack and Pablo crosses to the back post for Soldado, but he couldn't quite reach it.
What a fantastic save by Alves! Again, Bosinwgwa does well down the right and crosses brilliantly, but Alves pulls off a brilliant save down to his left from Torres' header.
Good play by Bosingwa as the fullback cuts inside and plays a ball in behind the defence, but once again Rami does well to clear up. The Frenchman has been very impressive thus far.
Corner kick to Valencia as Alba and Mathieu link up once again with Luiz deflecting the ball behind.
We're back underway for the second half at the Mestalla.
Halftime at the Mestalla and after a highly uninspiring first half, neither side can argue with the score as both sides have failed to truly test the opposition goalkeepers nearly enough.
45' + 2'
Very good effort by Pablo. Ball played into him just outside the area, and although his first touch was poor, the ball bounced up nicely for him allowing him to let rip, but Cech was equal to it.
45' + 1'
Valencia with a free-kick just left of the area, but Banega's delivery is poor and goes straight to Cech.
Almost a chance for Chelsea as Torres heads the ball back into the box, but Mathieu just muscles Ramires out of the way.
Once again, a decent cross by Chelsea as Bosingwa gets forward, but as has happened many times in this match so far, no one was in the box to meet it.
Chelsea win a corner as Mata's tame shot takes a deflection. The Spaniard hasn't been able to wield his magic yet.
Cech forced into a relatively easy save as Canales' low cross from the goal-line takes a slight flick off Luiz and the 'keeper gets down and catches.
Good play by Pablo as the winger holds off Terry before selling him a dummy and then crossing, but the cross was fairly poor, something that sums up the former Getafe man.
Bosingwa has struggled with Alba and Mathieu down Valencia's left so far. Both players are left-backs with an attacking mentality and so far, Bosingwa has been completely pegged back.
Petr Cech fails to deal with Mathieu's left-wing cross, but thankfully for Chelsea, Soldado couldn't get himself into the area in time.
Chelsea struggling to get players in good positions early on here. Deliveries have been put into the box, but Torres has failed to even get into the area in most cases.
Chance for Valencia! Jordi Alba played in an inviting low cross from the left and Pablo got a flick on at the front post, but wasn't quite on target.
Corner for Chelsea. Valencia looked to counter-attack and were given the chance to get more numbers forward with Luiz on the attack. Eventually, Pablo found Miguel out wide and he then went for goal, but a deflection took it wide.
The way Chelsea have set out here is very similar to their defeat at Old Trafford. They are looking to attack at every moment, but also looked open in midfield and at the back at times.
Yellow CardVíctor Ruiz
Victor Ruiz could have seen red there as he hauls down Ramires just outside the box. The referee deemed their to be supporting cover therefore the defender gets away with a yellow card. From the free-kick, Lampard forces Alves into a good save.
Soldado and Pablo link-up very well down the right as tthe winger plays a clever backhell into the striker's path, but the attack comes to little.
After a sloppy start by Valencia, they have come into the game a bit more now and look threatening down the left with Alba and Mathieu.
Ashley Cole tries his luck from range, but Diego Alves in the Valencia net was equal to it and saves comfortably.
Very nearly an own-goal by Valencia! Malouda and Ramires cause trouble in the centre of the Valencia defence. The Spaniards dispossess Malouda, but the ball is knocked behind for a corner before the ball can fall to Ramires.
Fantastic opening for Chelsea there! Fernando Torres was released by a poor pass from Valencia and surged towards goal. Just when he was about to let-rip, Rami clattered into him, but the referee saw nothing wrong with it.
And we're underway at the Mestalla.
Valencia's recent history against British sides is very poor, winning just two of the last ten matches. Meanwhile, the last time they beat an English side was back in 2002, against Liverpool.
Chelsea have a very good record at Valencia, winning both of their past visits to the Mestalla.
