FULL TIME! Valencia 4-2 BATE! The hosts claim a deserved victory over their Belarusian visitors to move into second spot in Group F. Thanks for joining me and stick with Goal.com for all the post-match discussion!
The game is drawing to a close now, and the home crowd are in full song - this has been an enjoyable fixture to watch.
BATE reverting to long balls forward now, but the passion seems to have oozed out of this one.
Baga delivers in a free kick from the right side, but no player can get to it and the danger fades.
Four minutes of extra time to be added...
With Bayern still up 5-1 in Munich, this result will see Valencia move into second in the Group F standings.
Jose Andrés Guardado
Feghouli goes down in the area, but it seems to be a harmless collision and the referee correctly waves to play on.
Valencia are high and dry now, and BATE knows it. Great fightback from the visitors earlier in the second half, but they'll leave Spain without any points by the looks of it.
Assist Ever Banega
Goal Sofiane Feghouli
AAAAHH FEGHOULI MAKES IT 4-2! Thunderous finish from a tight angle past Gorbunov after Banega teed up the Algerian! That'll be the three points secured, I imagine.
Valdez! Two goal lead nearly restored as the substitute fires narrowly wide after a tidy bit of footwork.
Assist Vitali Rodionov
Goal Dmitri Mozolevski
GOOOAAAL BATE! GAME ON! It's awful defending from Gago as he allows Rodionov in on goal! The forward makes no mistake and finds the unmarked Mozolevski, who converts from yards out! We could be in for a cracking closing now!
Players growing tired here as Feghouli can't keep himself composed in possession and BATE can throw in.
Roberto Soldado comes off and Nelson Valdez comes on in a like-for-like substitution.
Gorbunov palms the ball away after a mid-box scramble - either side look able to get another goal here.
Tino Costa has another crack from range, but it's again way over. Mozolevski comes on for Aleksander Hleb, who has been unable to stamp his mark on proceedings.
Valencia win a free kick in a promising position, just under ten yards outside of the box...
The full-back's cross is poor however, and Gorbunov collects.
Valencia have rediscovered their rhythm a little, as Soldado releases Cissokho on the left.
But it comes to nothing, and time seems to be running out for the Belarusians to salvage something from this tie.
But it comes to nothing, and time seems to be running out for the Belarusians to salvage something here.
BATE back at it as they run and hassle at the Valencia midfield...
Guaita appears to be in some discomfort after falling awkwardly on his hand. The stopper is getting a bit of the old ice spray to patch things up - why some of those medics wear full formal suits on jobs like these is beyond me!
Massive chance for BATE! Volodko handles the ball but is allowed to play on, and hits the side netting in the end. Had he scored that, it would have been reminiscent of THAT goal by Thierry Henry...
Jonas makes way for the more combative Ever Banega. Manuel Pellegrino looking to shut up shop.
Valencia have it back now, and seem glad to have escaped from the pressure as they move it around the back.
The hosts very much on the back foot at the moment, as the visitors move it around with ease.
Baga is nearly in, but Rami gets to it just in time and clears.
Yellow Card Artem Radkov
Feghouli gave away a sloppy foul on the right flank there, but the free kick is collected by Guaita. Not too confident from the Valencia stopper, however.
But that corner is as poor as I've seen in a while, as it ends up closer to the other end of the field than the six-yard box.
BATE drive forward in numbers, and win a corner. Another chance for the Belarusians to impose themselves physically.
OHH Gorbunov doesn't cover himself in glory there. A free kick looks to be timidly flying towards the Belarusian, but he makes a mess of it. Luckily for him Ricardo Costa is offside and his blushes are spared!
Yellow Card Mikhail Sivakov
Things are getting scrappy here at the Mestalla. Sivakov is booked just minutes after coming on following a rash challenge on Costa.
Yellow Card Vitali Rodionov
Rodionov and Bressan crush Gago in midfield there, as the latter comes flying in after the latter crashed into the Argentinian's back. Poor stuff.
First substitution of the game, as Likhtarovich is brought off for the more attack-minded Sivakov.
Goal Renan Bressan
AND THEY'VE GRABBED IT! Renan Bressan sends in a curling delivery which avoid everyone in the box, and it trickles in!
BATE win a freekick on their left flank, in a good position. This could be an opportunity for a lifeline back into the tie...
Will the hosts score within a minute again? Not this time around it seems, as Soldado can't get to a Gago pass.
Assist Fernando Gago
Goal Sofiane Feghouli
GOOOAAAAL Feghouli! Game over! Gago finds the winger with a clever ball on the edge of the area, who takes one touch before rifling past Gorbunov. Great play.
I'm not quite sure what Tina Costa meant to do there, but whatever his intentions they were not matched. The midfielder rifles it over with his left foot, from what was hardly a goalscoring position to begin with.
We haven't seen much of BATE's Alexander Hleb, the former Barcelona and Arsenal man, up to this point. Can the veteran spark a comeback here? Not yet, as Valencia win a free kick on the flank.
BATE have visibly more vigour coming out of the blocks. Whether they can sustain their pace remains to be seen, as Soldado is brought down trying to hold up play.
No substitutions made at halftime, both managers must think the men currently on the field can get a result!
And we're back! BATE get us back underway, with the visitors trailing 2-0 courtesy of a Jonas beauty and Soldado spot-kick.
HALFTIME! Valencia have a deserved 2-0 lead over BATE at the Mestalla, and look good value to see this one out. See you in 15!
Jonas' header off a cross is on target, but towards Gorbanov as well and the keeper collects.
Fantastic play on the right-hand side there from Valencia. Feghouli puts Pereira through with a sly backheel, but the full-back's cross is overhit and fails to find the waiting Soldado.
OOOHH Feghouli! The Valencia wideman sprints forward and beats his man to a long ball on the right flank, but his subsequent lob over the onrushing Gorbunov is overhit and it bounces wide! Close, close, close.
Valencia seem content to see this one out until halftime, and BATE have mustered little response to the hosts' double on the half-hour mark.
Tactical foul from Baga as he stops Costa from breaking forward.
Feghouli and Guardado seemed to have swapped berths temporarily, with the former now occupying the left wing. He tries to beat Polyakov, but is parried by the BATE man.
Brennan has a go from the edge of the area, but his attempt is poor really. He wasted a good chance to pull the visitors back into it there.
BATE look suckerpunched and devout of ideas - and who can blame them. They want to be wary of committing too many bodies forward, with the 14 goals-in-14 game Soldado lurking on the other end...
Bayern are now 5-0 up against Lille, who seem down and out in Europe this season.
Short positive period from the visitors there, as they force Cissokho into a scrappy foul - or it looks like a foul, but the referee seems to miss it.
I stand corrected, as Bressan fires it straight at Guaita.
BATE win a freekick, but only Cristiano Ronaldo would have a crack from here I reckon.
Yellow Card Fernando Gago
OOOHH Nearly three off a corner. A mass of bodies blocks Jonas' effort from crossing the line, and the ball ends up behind the goalline.
In that minute of madness, I completely lost sight of Group F's other group game between Bayern and Lille - which the rampant Germans are now leading 4-0!
How will BATE respond to this quickfire setback? Get in touch via @goal_intl on Twitter!
Penalty Goal Roberto Soldado
AND HE SCORES! 2-0 Valencia! Unstoppable strike into the low bottom corner, and the hosts are cruising!
PENALTY TO VALENCIA! Guardado wins a spotkick as he's tripped in the area. Soldado lines up to strike...
GOOOOAAAL VALENCIA! The hosts lead courtesy of a fine finish from Jonas! His first touch on a cross takes him away from his two markers, and the second is volley past the helpless Gorbunov! 1-0!
Yellow Card Maksim Bordachov
Bordachev is cautioned as he catches Feghouli as the winger breaks forward. We could be in for a fiery encounter by the looks of it!
Aaahh Valencia nearly find a way through. Feghouli looks to play a one-two with Jonas, but the playmaker's lobbed pass is poor and visitors can clear.
Bate had a chance to counter there, but their forward trio were unable to open up Valencia's two centre halves. Should do better there, the Belarusians.
Cries for a penalty as Soldado goes down in the area on the end of a promising attack, but the referee is having none of it.
GROUP F GOAL ALERT: Bayern 2-0 Lille! Pizarro doubles the German side's lead.
Soldado is clearly getting wound up with the Bate defence physicality. He's known for having a temper - perhaps that's how Viktor Goncharenko has instructed his charges to keep the forward quiet.
One thing this game has yet to see is a solid counterattack. Both sides have no issues committing bodies forward, but neither side have been able to spring a quick move upfield when they get it back.
Rodionov looks to cut in from the right with a bit of trickery - but it tricks no one and Cissokho gets it back.
Guardado is outnumbered on the left flank, but wins a free kick to maintain possession for his side.
Aaahh that's clever! Pereira sends in a dipping cross from the right, and Soldado attempts to flick it goalwards with his back to the goal. It's off target however, and Bate have it back.
Replays show Soldado lashed out at Bordachev a little - tad early for emotions to boil over, don't you think?
Valencia have got it back now, but are having difficulty prying open a Bate side defending in numbers.
Bate getting a bit more grip on the game now, as they look to play some quick passes across the middle of the field.
Scrappy stuff from Pereira. The full back is put through by Feghouli but throws up an elbow as he tries to beat Bordachev.
Volodko has a speculative attempt after cutting in from the right. But Guaita is untroubled and it's out for a goal kick.
Valencia have got the upper hand in these opening exchanges, with Soldado looking a real menace.
Oohh close from the hosts! Soldado chests it down in the area to tee up Jonas, but the midfielder's half volley is wayward and Bate escape!
Soldado is flagged for offside, but replays shows it was an incorrect call.
GROUP F GOAL ALERT: Bayern 1-0 Lille! Schweinsteiger puts the Bavarians ahead.
Oohh Soldado nearly gets on the end of a well weighted long ball - BATE can't give the Spaniard too much space like that!
Jonas looks to put Soldado through with a scrappy through ball, but it was never coming to anything and Gorbunov can claim it.
Bordachev sends a long ball forward, but Rodionov can't get a good touch and Guaita collects.
Both sides vying for control of the midfield at the moment, but they're hassling each other into mistakes and neither can get a grip.
And we're off! Valencia get us underway...
Kickoff moments away now, as the neck-hair raising Champions League anthem echoes through the Mestalla crowd…
How do you think this tie will pan out? Dogged defending from BATE to claim a draw, end-to-end attacking, or one sided Soldado-driven traffic? Send over your predictions to @goal_intl on Twitter!
Domestically, Los Che have been less convincing. The hosts currently linger in 8th place in the Primera Division table, five points adrift of a Champions League berth. The visitors meanwhile top the Belarusian Premier League, and look good value to claim a seventh successive title. How's that for domestic dominance?
When these sides met a fortnight ago, a Roberto Soldado masterclass separated the Liga outfit from their Belarusian hosts. The Spanish forward hit three goals without response in Minsk, and the Valencia skipper will surely be confident of finding the net in front of a roaring home crowd.
This Matchday 4 clash will be crucial in deciding who will ultimately secure qualification to the Knockout stages of the tournament from Group F - but in the climate of this group, every game is. Tonight's opponents, alongside German heavyweights Bayern Munich, are all tied on 6 points after three rounds of play. The Bundesliga side are currently preparing to face Lille, the Ligue 1 outfit rooted to the bottom of the group without a single point to their name.
