  • 90' + 5'
FULL-TIME, and Spurs take a comfortable victory in the London derby. West Ham had virtually nothing to offer going forward, with Andy Carroll largely ineffectual against Michael Dawson and Steven Caulker up front but for his late headed goal. However, the home side had a great deal of threat and energy in their attacking play, particularly through Bale who continues to impress as he roams all over the pitch. The Welshman scored a superb goal for Tottenham, with Jermain Defoe scoring a goal in each half also to end their run of three games without a win.
  • 90' + 4'
    Substitution Jermain Defoe Gylfi Sigurdsson
  • 90' + 2'
West Ham have a corner and there are several flick-ons in the Spurs box but there is Lloris to catch the ball safely.
  • 90' + 1'
Jermain Defoe gets fooled by Taylor and nearly gets booked for a cynical foul but manages to avoid a second yellow after writhing around in pain.
  • 90'
There'll be five minutes of added time at the end of this game.
  • 88'
That was nearly his hat-trick! Defoe has a shot that Jaaskelainen can only parry away, then Bale sends in another shot that the goalkeeper deflects away for a corner.
  • 87'
Heavens above. Carlton Cole is free and sends in a low cross that Lloris manages to gather with Carroll lurking behind him.
  • 86'
    Substitution Sandro Jake Livermore
  • 84'
Delay to the game here as Sandro is treated after a heavy challenge with Diame. There was no malice from the West Ham man, but it leaves the Brazilian very shaken up and needing to be taken off.
  • 82'
    Assist Joey O'Brien
  • 82'
    Goal Andy Carroll
GOAL!!! It's 3-1! O'Brien sends in a cross and there is Andy Carroll to head home his first goal for the Hammers after a mix-up between Caulker and Lloris.
  • 80'
Interesting from Walker, who comes into the penalty area and goes for goal at the near post when he had several team-mates waiting for a ball played to the far post.
  • 79'
    Substitution Aaron Lennon Mousa Dembélé
  • 78'
Nice ball from O'Brien to Diame, but the big Senegalese midfielder is offside.
  • 75'
Driven low shot there from Dempsey from just outside the box goes wide, with Bale just inches away from pouncing on any possible rebound.
  • 72'
The game has gone into another slight lull, with Spurs happy to knock the ball around at the back with little challenge from their opponents.
  • 69'
    Substitution Kevin Nolan Carlton Cole
  • 69'
Spurs aren't done yet, as Vertonghen comes forward but can't quite find a pass for Bale to latch on to.
  • 67'
Steven Caulker and Carroll clash and unfortunately there's only one winner there as the Spurs man lies prostrate on the turf.
  • 65'
Chance West Ham! Spurs switch off and the ball is played into Taylor in the box, but his shot goes well wide.
  • 64'
    Assist Aaron Lennon
  • 64'
    Goal Jermain Defoe
GOAL!!! 3-0!!! West Ham are undone at the back, Aaron Lennon is sent away on his own and he then rolls it across the box for Defoe to stroke the ball home.
  • 61'
That second goal seems to have taken a lot of the sting out of West Ham's attacks, as Lloris gathers a high ball comfortably under pressure from Nolan.
  • 58'
    Assist Clint Dempsey
  • 58'
    Goal Gareth Bale
GOAL!!! 2-0 Spurs!!! Dempsey dinks in a clever through-ball towards Bale, who engineers a finish on the half-volley to double the home side's advantage. Brilliant goal from the Welshman.
  • 57'
Chance! Clint Dempsey gets the ball just outside the box and sends in a thunderous shot that hammers into the woodwork.
  • 55'
    Substitution Gary O'Neil Matthew Taylor
  • 55'
Shouts for offside against Nolan, who comes forward and sends in a low cross towards Jarvis that Lloris manages to collect well under some pressure.
  • 54'
Carroll has a shout for a penalty after tussling with Vertonghen under a high ball but referee Andre Marriner doesn't give him anything.
  • 53'
Spurs are really turning the screw here and Bale sends in another shot from distance that Jaaskelainen can only parry away.
  • 50'
Sandro is in buckets of space and sends a through-ball towards Defoe who hits it first time but sees his shot deflected away for a corner.
  • 48'
Great effort from Jarvis, who half-volleys a flick-on from Carroll's head that Lloris can only parry away to safety.
  • 47'
Wowzers. Bale takes a free kick from way out that dips, swerves and goes just wide of the net.
  • 46'
The half-time break has been and gone and we're back for the second half, which is kicked off by Spurs.
  • 45' + 2'
HALF-TIME, and Spurs lead 1-0 thanks to Jermain Defoe’s superb solo strike late in the first period. It hasn’t been the greatest game in the world, with only Gareth Bale offering much going forward for the home side and Andy Carroll being shackled well up front by Tottenham’s defenders. However, Defoe’s wonderful goal just minutes before half-time changes everything and will make Andre Villas-Boas' team talk at the break slightly easier.
  • 44'
    Assist Kyle Walker
  • 44'
    Goal Jermain Defoe
GOAL!!! What an outstanding goal from Jermain Defoe! The England man comes forward on his own from near the centre circle, wriggles past a couple of challenges then sends in an unstoppable low shot from just outside the box. Absolutely superb.
  • 42'
Just not very good at all from Lennon. Bale maraudes forward once again and the ball breaks to the England international outside the box but he sends a shot comfortably wide.
  • 41'
The ball breaks for Tom Huddlestone and he sends a long-range shot into the stands. They've been shooting from distance a lot in this half for no reward.
  • 39'
Another cross comes in from Bale that Defoe cannot get anywhere near. Frustration is starting to mount for the home side.
  • 37'
Spurs are struggling to assert their authority so far, as Bale sends a cross-field ball towards Lennon that goes well over the England man's head.
  • 34'
Bale cuts in again from the right and sends a shot well over the bar. He's definitely been Spurs' most dangerous player going forward.
  • 33'
    Yellow Card Jermain Defoe
Stupid yellow for Jermain Defoe there, who goes in high and late on Winston Reid on the halfway line right in front of the assistant referee.
  • 32'
    Substitution Modibo Maiga Matthew Jarvis
Tactical switch there for the Hammers, who bring on Matt Jarvis to hopefully inject some pace into their attacking play.
  • 31'
Kevin Nolan, for some reason, doesn't get a corner and then tries to get Michael Dawson to admit he touched the ball last before it went out. Strange, with the game in something of a lull.
  • 29'
    Yellow Card Mark Noble
Mark Noble slides in clumsily and picks up a yellow card, taking one for the team as he fouls Aaron Lennon.
  • 28'
West Ham have a decent spell of attacking play through Nolan and Carroll before Diame blazes a shot into a Spurs defender and the ball is cleared.
  • 25'
Interesting, as a Maiga cross is deflected slightly dangerously by Sandro towards his own goal, but Hugo Lloris is there to gather easily.
  • 24'
Carroll is trying to find Kevin Nolan with his trademark knock-downs, but the Spurs defenders are alive to the danger and clear the ball comfortably.
  • 21'
Fabulous from Bale, who drifts over to the right, nearly skins George McCartney and forces a corner for Spurs.
  • 18'
First meaningful contribution there for Andy Carroll, who wins a header in the Spurs box but sends it harmlessly wide for a goal kick.
  • 16'
The away side can't stop giving the ball away. They just haven't got going in this game yet.
  • 15'
Dempsey is in a little space outside West Ham's penalty area but blazes well over the bar under some pressure from Diame.
  • 13'
Bale looks very sharp out there and Spurs come forward at pace but James Tomkins is there to deflect the ball away.
  • 12'
Chance! Gareth Bale looks like he's over-run the ball on a mazy dribble forward but manages to slide in a shot that rattles the crossbar. What a great effort from the Welshman.
  • 11'
Kyle Walker has a tough job on his hands defending against Modibo Maiga but manages to prevent him causing any problems.
  • 8'
    Yellow Card Joey O'Brien
Early booking for Joey O'Brien who mistimes a tackle on Gareth Bale.
  • 5'
Here's Defoe again, who goes to chip the ball over Jussi Jaaskelainen but doesn't get his contact right at all.
  • 5'
Early ball in from Jan Vertonghen to Defoe, but Winston Reid is there to avert any danger.
  • 3'
Whoops. Jermain Defoe is played in by Clint Dempsey and lets fly with a swerving shot that unfortunately goes well wide.
  • 2'
Serious battle going on there between Sandro and Mohamed Diame, with the Spurs man getting the free kick. Neither looks to be giving an inch.
  • 1'
And they're off! Tottenham get the first half up and running.
  • We’re getting closer to the start of this game, as both teams make their way out the tunnel onto the pitch at White Hart Lane.
  • Spurs central defender Michael Dawson makes his first start in the Premier League in place of William Gallas, while Clint Dempsey has the job of supporting Jermain Defoe in attack with Emmanuel Adebayor suspended. Meanwhile, the Hammers are unchanged from the side that drew at home to Stoke, though Matt Jarvis returns to the bench after a shin problem.
  • Now, here’s West Ham: Jaaskelainen, O'Brien, Reid, Tomkins, McCartney, Noble, Nolan, Diame, O'Neil, Maiga, Carroll. Subs: Spiegel, Demel, Collins, Moncur, Taylor, Jarvis, Cole.
  • Let’s have a look at how the teams line up. Firstly, here’s Spurs: Lloris, Walker, Caulker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Huddlestone, Sandro, Lennon, Bale, Dempsey, Defoe. Subs: Friedel, Gallas, Naughton, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Livermore, Carroll.
  • Meanwhile, West Ham sit two points above Spurs in seventh place, having exceeded many expectations since gaining promotion from the Championship last season. The Hammers are currently on a three-match unbeaten run, including a superb 0-0 draw at home to champions Manchester City and a very good 1-0 win away to Newcastle United. They could cause some problems for Tottenham today.
  • Spurs have been on a poor run of late, losing their last three games in the Premier League and slipping down to eighth in the table. However, they should take heart from their recent away trip to Lazio in the Europa League, where they drew 0-0 thanks in part to an outstanding display from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Against their city rivals, there could be few better times for the home side to rediscover their winning touch.
