Tottenham Hotspur win Aggregate 8 - 0
And even though Jermain Defoe failed to net a hat-trick, he more than proved that - if kept sharp - he has most certainly not lost his eye for goal. That's all from me Tim Poole folks, I hope you enjoyed our commentary tonight. Dinamo will now travel back to Georgia to continue the defence of their league title, while Arsenal await Tottenham on Sunday. No pressure, then!
From a Tottenham perspective, there are even more positives. Lewis Holtby was terrific today, creating a goal and scoring a superb one himself. Tom Carroll also showed signs of promise, while Kyle Walker and Andros Townsend were their usual energetic selves.
And any potential banana skins were avoided as tonight's hosts secured a whopping 8-0 aggregate win. Visitors Dinamo Tbilisi can draw positives from today's second leg, however, namely the fact that they conceded less and defended better than in the first leg.
That, as they say, is that - and Andre Villas-Boas can have no complaints. It was perhaps strange that Spurs needed to qualify for the Europa League in the first place but, after Wigan's FA Cup win, that is exactly what they were forced to do.
FULL-TIME! The whistle blows and a Tottenham side that were never troubled seal Europa League qualification.
90' + 2'
It ends with a wayward shot, unfortunately for the away side.
90' + 1'
There will be two minutes of added time as Dinamo, surprisingly, have a free kick in a dangerous position!
Yellow Card Jermain Defoe
BOOKING! The home fans boo as Defoe is booked inside the area for a dive. There was slight contact as the 30-year-old went down but it was perhaps a hopeful attempt to earn a penalty that may just have got him his hat-trick.
Injury time approaches here as Tottenham see out a very calm Europa League affair.
SAVE! Kane gets a shot away from right under his feet - he barely had any space to swing his foot - and Loria is forced into action to tip the long-range effort out for a corner.
Davit Khurtsilava goes down just outside the Tottenham penalty area but the fall is a hopeful one and the referee does not oblige in awarding a free kick to the away side. Goal kick given instead.
Will Defoe complete his hat-trick? The last time he did so in this competition was in November 2012.
Despite some hesitance, the visitors just about clear another delivery into the area from Fryers.
From the visitors' perspective, the reduced pace has allowed them a slightly greater share of the ball. We are discussing very fine margins, however.
The hosts have slowed the game down once again but it would be no surprise if they were to add a fourth or even fifth to their tally here.
Davit Khotcholava replaces Giorgi Merebashvili, who has had a tough time tonight receiving strong challenges from left, right and centre.
It seems the visitors have resorted to long-ball tactics as a 60-yard pass is hoofed upfield. Unsurprisingly, it goes beyond the Tbilisi frontline.
Mousa Dembele is introduced late on as Lewis Holtby comes off to a very warm reception from the Spurs faithful.
WIDE! Defoe comes close to a hat-trick once again. Kane was bundled over by more than one Dinamo defender but still managed to play the ball through to the 30-year-old, who took a touch and fired just left of Loria's right post.
A rare voyage into the Spurs half from the visitors is stopped by Naughton and another counterattack is instigated.
WOW! Kaboul of all people surges all the way down the right-hand side and whips a great cross into Carroll. The midfielder's finish is blocked by a defender but the crowd are still busy sharing looks of amazement at Kaboul's fabulous run!
A great delivery from Naughton is now cleared from within the Dinamo penalty box. Wave after wave of attack from the hosts.
Holtby has been instrumental tonight and so deserved his goal. He does not want it to stop there, however, as he almost plays in a team-mate inside the Tbilisi area once more. The Germany international is giving Villas-Boas plenty to consider tonight.
Assist Thomas Carroll
That was coming - but what a way to do it. After receiving the ball from Carroll on the edge of the area, Holtby curled a wonderfully-taken finish straight into the top corner. 3-0.
Goal Lewis Holtby
Fryers attempts a cross from the left but it is easily dealt with. Spurs do not relent, however, pushing further down that left-hand side.
CHANCE! Amazing scenes as Vouho gets onto the end of a well-delivered free kick and heads just wide for Tbilisi. How he would have cherished a goal at White Hart Lane; he almost got himself one!
Kane is next to threaten, though his finish is too near Loria at the near post.
Dinamo have had a shot tonight - but apart from that, they have hardly seen the ball...
CROSSBAR! Sigurdsson thumps a powerful drive against the Tbilisi crossbar! The Iceland international is played in by Holtby and, from the edge of the area, he curls a wonder-strike right onto the bar. Unlucky.
Carroll's pass to Kane is, surprisingly, cut out - but the visitors do not hold the ball for long as Spurs win an immediate throw-in.
The home side are now just half an hour away from the Europa League group stage. Holtby is perhaps a little too excited by that thought as he receives the ball around 25 yards from goal and drives a shot over the bar. Still, it is a confident hit from the midfielder.
ANOTHER CHANCE! And another chance for Defoe! The Spurs forward finds himself in possession to the left of the Dinamo box and, without other options, he turns and curls a powerful shot just wide of Loria's left post. Tottenham - and Defoe in particular - are most definitely in the hunt for a third.
Kyle Walker's night comes to an end as he is replaced by Zeki Fryers. It was a good night at the office for the full-back and he still has plenty in the tank left for Sunday. Perfect.
It seems almost cruel that the hosts would try to better their first-leg total against Dinamo but that is the job they have ahead of them.
SIDE-NETTING! Defoe is played through by Holtby and after a smart turn, his shot is turned into the side-netting by Loria. Almost a deserved hat-trick for Spurs' second-choice striker.
Kane forces a corner for Spurs now, however. The home side are upping the ante here. They want another goal.
Carroll is next to strike but Loria is not threatened in the Dinamo goal.
First shot of the day for Dinamo! It is Patrick Vouho with the strike - though it is a tame one.
It also means that Tottenham have changed to a 4-4-2 formation. But Kane's first involvement does not produce a goal as the home side's attack ends with a stray pass from Sigurdsson. His fine assist for Defoe's second goal aside, the Iceland international has hit several similarly loose passes tonight.
Defoe's double in the first half also moves him up to fifth in Spurs' all-time scorer's list!
Dinamo kick us off in this second half! There has been one change at half-time as Harry Kane replaces Andros Townsend. That may well mean that Townsend is being saved for a certain north London derby against Arsenal on Sunday...
The second half is just minutes away now, so time to make your final preparations!
How many more will Spurs score in the second half? Only time will tell, although it is a case of the more the better for Defoe and the likes of Tom Carroll, Lewis Holtby and Gylfi Sigurdsson, who will all be desperate to impress boss Andre Villas-Boas.
So no problems whatsoever for Tottenham at the break. Dinamo Tbilisi can still be happy with their performance thus far - but since Jermain Defoe opened the floodgates, the probability of more goals going in has seemingly doubled.
HALF-TIME! The whistle blows and the home side can go into the break knowing they have a comfortable, comfortable lead.
45' + 2'
Assist Gylfi Sigurdsson
Easy does it indeed. Sandro wins the ball and plays it to Walker, the right-back then plays is short to Sigurdsson and the Iceland international crosses the ball into the six-yard area where goal-poacher Defoe is ready and waiting for his second of the night.
45' + 2'
Goal Jermain Defoe
Two minutes of added time are announced by the officials.
The speed of the play has really slowed down after that opener. After taking the lead, the hosts cannot complain with their first-half performance, while Dinamo can be happy to only be a goal down at a venue such as White Hart Lane, too.
Defoe may have put Spurs in the lead but their star performer has once again been Townsend, even though he did more damage from a central position in the first leg.
Assist Lewis Holtby
Holtby is the architect and Defoe the builder as a great pass into space finds the 30-year-old forward exactly where he wants to be found. On the edge of the area, Defoe turns and places a lovely finish into the right-side of Loria's goal. Easy does it.
Goal Jermain Defoe
GOAL! Defoe! GOAL! Defoe!
The ball flies out at speed for a corner but the home side fail to take advantage as it is thumped up the other end of the pitch after a good clearance.
CHANCE! The players respond as Townsend surges into the danger area and needs a fantastic tackle to stop him!
The occasional whistle from the crowd suggests an air of - dare I say it - boredom amongst the Tottenham faithful.
Darko Glishic, who started the first leg, is his replacement.
Dato Kvirkvelia has pulled up injured for the visitors and is forced off.
Sigurdsson wins the ball superbly down the right but selfishly moves into the middle and shoots himself. The effort is a bad one and is blocked by a defender but Carroll makes a better go of it on the rebound, sending a full volley only a yard or so over the bar.
The hosts are yet to find a goal tonight but the main cause for that is the fact that they have five goals to their name in the tie already. Effort levels have clearly dropped as a result, although coach Villas-Boas may approve of his players' unwillingness to risk getting an injury.
Carroll and Kyle Naughton get involved once again as Defoe surges into the penalty area - yet the 30-year-old is penalised for a handball. In truth, the ball hit a Tbilisi defender's hand and hit Defoe straight in the stomach. But the referee's view was blocked by the Spurs forward's body. An unfortunate episode.
The ensuing set-piece is a poor one from Sigurdsson, however, and is easily headed clear.
Vertonghen moves into the Tbilisi half now to spur his side on (pardon the pun). The energy is well-received as Townsend and Walker then combine to force a corner down the right for the hosts.
The offside flag now goes up for the away side - a sign of some attacking intent.
A long ball is sent down the right for the visitors but it sails off for a goal kick. Regardless, Dinamo will be very happy with proceedings so far - and it might be fair to say that some of the home side's fringe players have not imposed themselves quite enough.
Defoe has an acrobatic effort saved well by goalkeeper Giorgi Loria, although the 30-year-old is flagged offside, anyway.
Yellow Card Giorgi Merebashvili
Giorgi Merebashvili earns the away side's first booking of the night with a careless challenge on Walker.
Just wide from Townsend! The talented youngster refuses to play Walker in and fires a shot from just outside the danger area to the right of the Dinamo goal. Townsend only had eyes for goal there; his confidence is high.
Yellow Card Sandro
CRUNCHING TACKLE! Sandro earns himself a booking after diving in on Goga in midfield. The Brazilian means business - but that challenge was over-cooked.
Lewis Holtby now finds Defoe but a solid defensive challenge stops the striker in his tracks.
Another cross is sent into the Dinamo penalty area but it is too high for Iceland international Sigurdsson.
CHANCE! Defoe is finally found with one of the Tottenham midfield's searching through-balls and the diminutive forward pounces to unleash a strike across goal. He fires a couple of yards left of the Dinamo goal, however.
It certainly has not been plain sailing for the home side so far but they have most definitely not left first gear yet.
Levan Khamaladze now wins the ball for his side before Sigurdsson is then dispossessed after Tottenham win it back.
The visitors are restricting the home side as much as they can, keeping the ball effectively until they reach the final third.
Despite those odd errors, however, Carroll has imposed himself on the action well early on. A goal seems very likely for Spurs - and soon.
Carroll is now dispossessed in midfield by Dorin Goga and Spurs struggle to regain the ball until a long pass goes astray.
Gylfi Sigurdsson steals the ball in the centre of the park but his threaded pass - much like Carroll's - is too far for the advancing Defoe.
Dinamo Tbilisi have ventured forward into the Spurs half on occasion, to the Georgian side's credit.
Tom Carroll almost plays in Jermain Defoe! Tonight's game will definitely mean a lot to those two - their places in the Tottenham team are under real pressure.
A Kyle Walker cross into the Dinamo penalty area forces a clearance and the early pressure is all Tottenham's - much like the first leg.
Brad Friedel gets an early touch as Spurs calmly exchange passes in their own half, although Andros Townsend fires over as the home side quickly turn slow passing into a rapid counterattack.
We're off at White Hart Lane! Tottenham's 5-0 first-leg win was their first away victory in Europe since 2011 and it has set them in good stead for tonight.
The Star Wars theme tune greets the players onto the field at White Hart Lane, meaning we are just moments away from kick-off.
Kick-off will be at 8.05pm British time so get set for a European night of action, with Tottenham 90 minutes away from another Europa League campaign. Miracles aside, they should make it through.
To all intents and purposes, Andre Villas-Boas has very much fielded a second-string side today. However, the likes of Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen, Andros Townsend and Kyle Naughton - all first-team players - have also been selected by the Portuguese boss, showing his unwillingness to take any European fixture lightly.
And visitors Dinamo will look like this tonight: (4-4-2) Loria; Khurtsilava, Kvirkvelia, Gvelesiani, Kvaratskhelia; Khmaladze, Merebashvilli, Grigalashvili, Dzaria; Goga, Vouho. Substitutes: Zarkua, Shashiashvili, Papava, Glisic, Khocholava, Seturidze, Dvali.
Hosts Tottenham will be lining up like this: (4-2-3-1) Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Naughton; Holtby, Townsend, Sigurdsson, Carroll, Sandro; Defoe. Substitutes: Lloris, Fryers, Paulinho, Capoue, Soldado, Dembele, Kane.
On Tuesday night, we saw Arsenal finish off a job that was predominantly done in Turkey when they beat Fenerbahce 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium to secure a 5-0 aggregate win and qualify for the Champions League main draw. Tonight, Tottenham have it even easier after their staggering 5-0 first-leg win in Georgia.
Good evening and welcome to live play-by-play coverage of Tottenham against Dinamo Tbilisi in the Europa League play-offs. I'm your host Tim Poole and I'll be guiding you through the action as Spurs look to qualify for the main draw of the Europa League - and Dinamo look to improve on a humiliating first-leg display.
