The youngster put in a decent performance for the away side, particularly going forward and he linked well with Lallana on a number of occasions.
The young full-back engaged in a fierce battle with Rose down the right for the visitors, and his pace and energy caused Sunderland problems throughout.
The centre-back was alert to head the ball behind his own goal when under pressure from Graham towards the end of the first half. Passed the ball well out of defence for his side.
The Southampton captain linked well with Shaw on the left, and played Lambert in with some probing passes, particularly in the second half.
Failed to have much of an impact on the game as Larsson and N'Diaye played well for the hosts. Looked tired late on as Southampton chased the game.
Making his return to the starting line-up the impressive midfielder was confident on the ball and he acted as a platform for some of his side's more threatening plays.
The former Chelsea academy man lost his midfield battle with N'Diaye, particularly when the two challenged for possession in the air. Subbed off in the second half.
Twice thwarted by Mignolet in the first half, and was unlucky not to see his name on the scoresheet after putting in a decent performance in attack.
A constant threat for Southampton as they came into the game after going behind to Bardsley's strike. Forced Mignolet into making a great save late on.
