Kept out an early effort from Jerome Thomas in, but conceded a goal just before the break that he possibly could have averted. The wind played its part, but James Morrison’s long-range shot should have been taken more capably by the Dane, who instead allowed it to kick up off of his heel and into the net. Wasn’t as troubled in the second-half, but failed to deal with Dorrans' late free-kick.
The young Stoke man had a good afternoon out on the right-flank. Initially stating in midfield, the 23-year-old did well to pace up and down his flank and supplied the ball when given a chance to. Swapped to the right-back position after the break and did equally as well.
Did well at the back by clearing the ball when needed, whilst keeping Fortune at bay for most of the game and restricting the striker’s influence.
Started the game at right-back for the second successive game and did a reasonable job, although often had a hard time keeping tabs on Thomas who was constantly up and down his flank and was allowed his fair share of crosses. Was replaced just after the restart by Pennant.
A quiet day for the left-back who wasn’t threatened too much by the West Brom players on his flank. Simon Cox and Gabriel Tamas did their best to get forward but the game was played more over on the other wing.
Looked comfortable at the back, tackling well and getting positioned efficiently during set-pieces. However, the former Chelsea man was guilty of not closing down Morrison numerous times and allowed the space for the midfielder to get his first-half goal. Was able to help his side not concede another after a courageous tackle just a couple of yards from goal on Fortune.
Didn’t look his sharpest in the middle; although passed well, couldn’t feed the men up top and his set-pieces were also ineffective for most of the game.
Held the ball up well and passed his way out of trouble on a number of occasions, but the urgency of the opposition often caught him out.
Had a few good runs down the left as he usually does, but remained a largely ineffective member of the Stoke outfit and was dealt with efficiently by Tamas.
The attacker couldn’t conjure the goals for Stoke on a frustrating afternoon. Had a few half-chances, but couldn’t make the most of them. His afternoon got worse after missing an undeserved penalty late into the game.
The former Liverpool striker was another that couldn’t impress the home crowd after a game that saw little from the towering attacker.
The former Manchester United man was tested more by the weather conditions than he was the Stoke players in the opening 45 minutes, with the hosts failing to really trouble the Baggies stopper. The second-half brought more of the same, with the exception of a penalty that the ‘keeper kept out strongly to keep his team in the lead.
A strong showing by the Baggies captain, tackling well enough to keep the hosts from finding their way through and even aided in West Brom’s attacks, getting the ball forward and opening up the midfield.
The full-back looked comfortable on his flank and was only troubled on one occasion by Etherington.
Did a good job at the back and was unfortunate to have conceded the penalty, but justice prevailed after Walters’ spot-kick was saved by Foster.
A decent showing from the left-back who was occasionally undone by Shotton, but remained strong for most of the match.
Did a solid job in holding the ball while sitting in the hole in front of the defence. Contributed well in passing the ball out of trouble and maintaining possession.
Had a good game which was made even more enjoyable after he scored the winner in dramatic fashion from his free-kick at the death.
Had a good chance early on denied by Sorensen as the winger cut inside and poked the ball at the big Dane. Continued to be a nuisance to the Potters’ defence and finished strongly before coming off late on.
The midfielder was a great attacking outlet for the Baggies from the off and saw a fantastic effort on goal from distance hit the post . That chance didn’t put him off as he blasted the ball from 25 yards out to put the visitors in front. A confident showing.
Not a bad day for the attacker, but could have taken a chance or two in front of goal.
Wasn’t particularly effective up top, but tried to be a pest in keeping the the Potters defenders busy.
- 1 A. Begović
Came on late to shore up the Potters' defence and collect their point.
- 18 D. Whitehead
Came on just after the break and gave Stoke an injection of energy.
- 10 R. Fuller
- 9 K. Jones
Arrived late in the game to great effect, scoring the Potters’ late equaliser with a good header from a free-kick.
