The 'keeper was fairly solid tonight. Faultless with Messi's goal and did make several impressive stops, particularly from range where he sometimes needed two touches to claim the ball.
Decent performance from the 21-year-old who marked Villa tightly throughout. Brilliant goal-line clearance to deny Adriano an early opener.
Forced to play at right-back due to Srna's injury, the 25-year-old struggled to make an impact on the game. Great run in the first-half nearly provided Jadson with a goal but disappeared after that with Blaugrana pinning him back.
Not a bad game from the centre-back who continues to deputise for the injured Chygrynskiy. His positioning was solid throughout and he kept his concentration against this tricky Barca team.
The left-back started tonight ahead of the injured Rat and started brightly, always looking to provide support for Shakhtar's lively attack. However, as Barcelona started to dominate the game, the defender was unable to get forward, being pegged back by Alves and Messi.
The Armenian midfielder struggled a little against the likes of Xavi and Keita. His passing was basic and he failed to offer adequate support to the Shakhtar attack.
Very lively in the early stages of the game, even managing to outpace Alves at times. However, struggled to make the most of Shakhtar's limited possession and faded badly in the second half.
The Brazilian schemer impressed tonight when in possession, making several worthy runs into the box. Always looking forward to find a team-mate.
The highly-sought after Brazilian impressed when on the ball but this was not often enough for Shakhtar supporters in the Donbass. He looked lazy at times, unwilling to track back to support his midfielders.
Dogged performance from the Czech in the centre of the park. Once Barcelona scored he unsurprisingly looked a little dejected like the rest of his team-mates.
Still struggling to find his shooting boots. Missed several glorious opportunities in the first-leg and did not perform much better tonight. Lacking confidence at the moment which is affecting his willingness to make decent runs.
The 'keeper was in great form this evening, making several brilliant stops. Kept his concentration throughout and did not put a foot wrong.
As always, the Brazilian right-back attacked throughout the game. Largely untroubled in defence as Shakhtar struggled to win the ball off the visitors. Nice pass to set up Messi for the only goal of the game.
The Spain international went through an inconsistent spell when Puyol was first injured but looks to have found his feet again. Coped well with the pace and movement of Shakhtar's attack.
Impressive again from the former Sevilla man who looks like making the left-back position his own for the rest of the season. Always looked to get forward and sturdy in defence. Finally showing his potential at Barca.
Kept things simple without his usual partner Iniesta in the centre of the park but still showed his quality. Will be a key player if Barca are to win the treble.
He was determined to win the ball in midfield with a lot of his good work going unnoticed. Such a solid squad player to have in reserve.
Fairly untroubled tonight at the back. Made some decent interceptions and showed good positioning throughout. Decent in the air too.
Very impressive tonight. Mopped up well in the centre and also provided a useful attacking outlet. On several occasions he won the ball before breaking to start a Barca attack.
Started slowly but once he got into his stride looked dangerous going forward. Great footwork at times and can count himself rather unlucky not to have got himself on the score-sheet after having two decent efforts saved.
His usual brilliant self as he scored a record-breaking 48th goal of the season. Looked like he was performing on only half a tank of gas but still the best player on the pitch. Several great runs and unlucky not to have one or two assists to add to his ninth Champions League goal of the season.
No goals now in nine games which will be a worry for his coach. Looked lethargic at times although could be pacing himself with two upcoming Clasico's in the next week. His movement was particularly poor.
- 12 R. Khudzhamov
- 38 S. Krivtsov
- 19 O. Gai
Making his way back from a broken leg, the Brazilian was brought on in the latter stages and showed some nice flicks.
The Bolivian international replaced Luiz Adriano in the final quarter of the game and struggled to impose himself upfront although did show a few nice touches.
- 29 Alex Teixeira
Eduardo Da Silva
Lively cameo from the striker who despite some good build-up play, could not get himself in front of goal to showcase his shooting prowess.
- 13 Pinto
Cameo for the centre-half whose first involvement nearly saw him sent off for a reckless lunge on Eduardo. Calmed down after that and looked solid enough.
- 19 Maxwell
- 26 Fontàs
Came off the bench and looked good in build-up play although he missed a glorious opportunity to add a second.
- 30 Thiago Alcântara
Entered the game late on but did not have enough time to make an impact.
