• Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, Sevilla
Referee: Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz
• Attendance: 36000
Negredo 61', 84'
Sergio Ramos 21'
Cristiano Ronaldo 31', 65', 70', 75'
That's all from me, Daniel Quinton-Navarro, untll the next time at least. As always it has been a pleasure, and remember to keep it Goal.com.
Goals were the order of the day, and the came. Eight of them in fact. Ronaldo was in his grove scoring four times, as he overtakes Messi's 31 goal tally in pursuit of the Pichichi title. 'CR7' is now on 33 goals after tonight's superb display.
90' + 1'
And they don't have to wait long, the referee brings the action to a close and there you have it. Madrid back to within five points of Barcelona whilst Sevilla drop down to sixth place; four points clear of Espanyol who lie outside of the European places.
Ramos does well to deflect a low cross over his own crossbar when he was running towards his own goal. Sevilla had enjoyed a good bit of possession there, waiting for that full-time whistle it seems....
Yellow Card Lassana Diarra
Capel returns to the action before being fould by Lassana Diarra with a sliding challenging earning the France international a late booking. For good meausre Arbeloe tramples, accidently, over Capel. Ouch.
With very few Madristas witnessing this game the atmosphere has been something special tonight. It hasn't been quiet for longer than 20 seconds after a Madrid goal, great advocate for Spanish support. Stand up and be counter Sevilla fans.
Slight stoppage in play as Adebayor comes crashing down on Capel's back. Slow-mo, yup that hurt. Hurt alot.
Assist Sergio Sánchez
GOAL! NEGREDO! That is his 15th goal of the season. He climbs above Arbeloa and Ramos to meet the corner and, with nobody on the post it nestles in the net. 6-2. (4-2 between Ronaldo and Negredo mind).
RONALDO! I shouldn't have to say anymore! Granero, just introduced to the action, does superbly on the near touchline to get away from Dabo before pulling it back to Adebayor. He in turn lifts it to the far post which 'CR7' picks up, and he should be bending it home for his fifth goal of the night. I say "should", it was a difficult chance but this is the world's most expensive footballer!
Yellow Card Romaric
Handbags! Romaric earns a caution after grabbing Arbeloa's neck with the full-back having any idea of the Ivorians intentions. No idea what it was all about but it certainly caused uproar on the touchline.
That is first time that Sevilla have conceded six goals in la Liga at home. EVER. Quite a feat. Real Madrid have achieved. Can they get seven?
Ronaldo is at it again but this time his shot is too straight and Varas punches away, but only as far as Benzema who should keep it down on the volley. The France international just cannot get over it though and it sails over the bar.
Assist Karim Benzema
Goal Cristiano Ronaldo
GOAL! NUMBER FOUR! Madrid show their attacking worth, and whislt Barca are a differerent oppostion they may not have been able to put up with this. Benzema is played in behind los Rojiblancos' defence and he drives a low ball to the far post which Ronaldo hammers home. 33 and counting...
Sevilla come close to reducing the deficit through Capel, who turns inside brilliantly to negate four Madrid defenders. The shot is good until it curves away from the post at the last minute.
Madrid counter at surpeme pace, with Ozil sprinting forward to get involved. The pass out to the German is a little heavy and the passage slows up a little bit. Ozil looks to send the ball back cross towards Ronaldo but Benzema makes it his ball before trying a backheel which leaves the Portugual international a little short.
ESCUDE! World class goalkeeping there! The defender is first to Capel's low free kick and the Frenchman directs his header towards goal drawing a reactionary save from the best 'keeper in the world, according to many leading journalists.
Assist Mesut Özil
Goal Cristiano Ronaldo
HAT-TRICK! Mesut Ozil sends a wonderful ball through to Ronaldo who'd held his line brilliantly with Sevilla looking to step-up. 'CR7' takes the ball in his stride before waiting for Varas to make his move and the simply putting it the other way. "Bye Messi". 32 goals for Ronaldo now, one ahead of one Lionel Messi.
Medel lucky to get away with a Madrid penatly shout as he blocks the run of Marcelo in the area. Ball was well ahead of the Brazilian there, but still you've seen them given.
"Hello Lionel". The two stars have 31 goals apiece now in the race to be crowned Pichichi winner of the 2010/11 season. At least there is one thing still in the balance, right?
GOAL! RONALDO! It's Christmas come early when Negredo squares it across his own 18 yard box only for Ronaldo to intercept it and bare down Varas' goal. He takes one look up before dummying a shot, only to lift it over Vara's dive to restore Madrid's three goal cushion.
Goal Cristiano Ronaldo
Negredo has a new life in him now, as he comes short for the ball before trying to spin and play in Dabo. As it is his pass is intercepted and the Spanaird fouls Benzema when trying to win the ball back.
Negredo sends in a long, hanging cross toward the far post which may creep in but nobody is troubling Casillas and the keeper easily collects it. Would have been interesting to have seen Kanoute go in on Casillas there...
NEGREDO! GOAL! Unlikely comeback? Sevilla work the ball well, along the edge of the box and when Romaric helps it onto Negredo the former Madrid player gets it onto his stronger left foot and sends a low, powerful shot inside Casillas' near post to give los Rojiblancos a liveline. Next goal is so, so important now.
KANOUTE! When it is delivered the tall, striker rises highest to direct his head towards goal but it carries a little bit too much height and in the end Casillas doesn't even need to make a save.
The free kick is swung across and Fazio gets his head to it first but it takes a deflection and goes behind for a corner kick. Substitutions before that kick can be taken though.
Capel and Romaric look to get Sevilla on the attacking foot again as they interchange passes with the Spaniard winning the free kick 30 yards out on the far touchline.
Madrid show some superb touches, first through Ozil who picks the ball up from the air when it is falling behind him with the base of his foot and brings it into his running path. Before Kaka touches the ball down deftly for the German who then looks to chip it towards Arbeloa but the full-back can't get there ahead of Fazio and the chance goes.
Casillas is forced into making a save when Kanoute gets a sight of goal but the striker's shot is comfortable for the Spanish No. 1 who opts to palm it away in the direction of Arbeloa.
Madrid happy to let los Rojiblancos to have the ball but Arbeloa's laxical defending nearly costs Mourinho's men when Negredo is allowed to come in on the angle but his cross come shot is turned behind by Pepe.
That man Diarra spreads his legs as he looks to run the Sevilla defence but Dabo comes across with a perfectly timed sliding challenge to put the ball out of the play for a throw in.
Capel and Fazio look to combine well but Sergio Ramos is alert to the danger and comes across to nulify the threat. Good work that from Ramos.
Kanoute works had to win the ball after a long punt upfield and he does exceptionally well before giving it to Capel. The winger in turn switches the ball to Negredo who wins a corner kick for the home side.
Somehow the ball evades both Sanchez and Marcelo and goes out for a throw on the far side after Alonso's hollywood pass.
So, so easy. Shame about the pass. Ronaldo touches and goes by Sanchez as he looks to surpass Messi's 31 goals but when he comes back inside his pass is poor and Sevilla clear it well.
Early free kick awarded to Mardid int he middle of the pitch, Sevilla pushing further up already in this second half.
The players are back out on the pitch for the second half, and here we go...
A fact for you, that won't make this night any easier for Sevilla - they had scored 16 of their last 20 goals against Real Madrid in the first half. Not a great omen heading into the second 45 minutes one would think.
Muba in Lagos said that "Real Madrid will win the game no problem"; how right that man was - if a games was 45 minutes long anyway. Come the end of the 90, he'll probably be right, too.
Remember you can get involved via the wonderful world that is Twitter, all you need to know is @dquintonnavarro, shove it in your Tweet and I'll get it in somehow! Is there a chance of a Sevilla come back, what is Manzano saying in that dressing room? Your turn to do the talking!
45' + 1'
The one extra minute of the half is played without much drama and that's the end of the first 45 minutes. Real Madrid are cruising.
The players are trudging in for their half-time team talks, wonder what is going to be said it that home changing room. Join me in 15 for the conclusion of this one.
Sevilla with a free kick in a dangerous position after Negredo is fouled by Marcelo but the delivery is poor and Iker Casillas comes out to collect with the minimal amount of fuss.
Diarra does brilliantly well, when he has nowhere he to go. He is fouled but stays on his feet looking to play it back and keeping the game alive before he is thrown to the ground by a frustrated Negredo. Lass has done well tonight.
Yellow Card Sergio Sánchez
If you are a Sevilla fan and are looking for a bif of consolation, the foul that brought a stop to your side's best attack...Ramos was booked for that. I did say, "bit of".
Assist Mesut Özil
GOAL! KAKA! Ozil lays it off to the Brazilian, who looks up, picks his spot and bends it beyond a helpless Varas. Lethal stuff this from Madrid, 3-0 and it isn't even half-time. Corrrr, I sound like Andy Gray; I'm sure you know it isn't half-time...!
Yellow Card Sergio Ramos
Great, great work from Sevilla for this time as Romaric plays a wonderful one-two with Kanoute. The ex-Tottenham man then lays it off for Diego Capel and Sevilla are in behind Madrid with Ramos out of position......and then the whistle goes for a foul on Romaric and the start of the move. Poor refereeing there.
Ronaldo takes his time to tee a shooting chance for Xabi Alonso who looks to place it beyond Javi Varas but the Spanish stopper does well to palm it away for corner with both hands on the dive.
Ronaldo strikes one with real venom from 25 yards but, even though it is hit with some pace, it is straight at Varas who gets his entire body behind it to make the save.
Lass is learning from Xabi in training it looks like as he sends a rasping 60 yard pass to Benzema's feet who tries too much, too close and Sevilla clear, for the time being.
I think that counts as a shot? Sanchez sends in a cross from deep towards Negredo who heads from the edge of the 18 yard box but can only flick it so it lands between goal and corner flag.
Marcelo is playing like a left striker of a front three here. This time he shows his quick feet with some stepovers before driving it low to Ozil who looks to return it to the Brazilian, but the ball back to him has too much on it and he can't get it under control.
Goal Cristiano Ronaldo
GOAL! CRISTIANO RONALDO! Marcelo sends a diagonal ball across into the penatly area which Pepe knock downs for his fellow international team mate giving Ronaldo the simpliest of tasks, control and shoot. He hits an unstoppable shot past Varas, for his 31st goal of the season. "I'm coming Lionel".
Madrid with a devastating counter attack with Ronaldo running at Sevilla's defence. The Portugual international touches it to Ozil who show's great pace to get to it ahead of Dabo and send it towards Ronaldo who is fractionally beaten to it by Fazio.
Zokora comes through the back of Kaka, not once, not twice but thrice and on the third time the referee awards the freekick to the Brazilian. Nothing more though...
Kanoute adjudged to have controlled the ball with his hand and Madrid are able to reassert their dominance on this game which they have been losing in the last few minutes here.
Sevilla with some possession here and they feel as if they should have a freekick when Medel goes to ground but the ball falls to Kanoute, and had the No. 12's touch been better he might have been away but instead he showed too much of it to Pepe who saw it back to his 'keeper.
Kanoute with a neat drag back before sending a cross field ball towards Capel who does well to get it under control but the Spanish international loses it a persistent Marcelo.
RONALDO! It should be two! This time Kaka sends the corner in and 'CR7' is left unmarked but his header comes crashing back off the upright. Where was Sevilla's defence, I could do better than that, and I'm 5'4!
From side-to-side resumes as Madrid are allowed more corner kicks to practice...
Assist Mesut Özil
Goal Sergio Ramos
GOAL! Ozil gets the assist with a terrific corner which SERGIO RAMOS connects with superbly to hammer his header past a stationary Javi Varas.
Sevilla have obviously decided they have attacked too much and are happy to sit back in their penatly area as Kaka and Ozil trade corner kicks.
The freekick is cleared for a corner, but from the corner Escude should have put his side one up. The Frenchman had a free header, just six yards out but he directs it into the ground and it bounces up and away. Whistle had gone anyway, for...nothing. Cannot see anyting wrong in that, but something was given!
Although this may change that, Xabi Alonso gives a freekick away allowing Capel to swing one into the dangerzone...
Kanoute is having to come deep in search of the ball, his latest venture towards the centre circle sees the ex-Tottenham man win a throw in for his side. And when I say that is the best to say about Sevilla's attacks so far, it really, really is.
Kaka takes the resulting corner and swings it in right underneath the crossbar but Javi Vara gets there first and punches the ball clear under pressure.
Capel loses out with five dark shirts around him as Madrid look to make this early pressure count but this time Benzema wastes a good crossing position as he delays it a fraction too long and Sevilla get back well.
Great feet from Marcelo in the penalty area as he looks to invite a challenge but the Sevilla defenders do well not too bite and the Brazilian is left to cross into the middle which Escude hacks away.
Game isn't being allowed to flow at all...Marcelo looks to take a quick free-kick in his own half but our man in the middle blows for it be to taken again on a technicality.
BENZEMA!! And they should have done! The striker is presented with a free, low header inside the six yard box after Ronaldo's cross but somehow the Frenchman misses the target. How? Only he knows!
Los Rojiblancos down for ten whilst Dabo gets ready to come on the pitch and Madrid are looking to take advantage of their extra numbers.
Fernando Navarro is in some pain here, clutching his groin after seeing a ball out a play and we are having the games first substitution as a result.
First save of the game, and it's Javi Varas who has to make it. Benzema gets some room in the area, but it is an acute angle to score from but the No. 9 tries his luck anyway but the Spanish stopper covers his near post well to get down low and keep it out.
Calmly done by Iker Casilla, the pass back is awkward from Ramos and the Spanish No. 1 does will to drag the ball inside of Negredo who was charging him down. Flashbacks of last weekends clanger which gifted Zaragoza their first goal may have gone across the Casillas mind their.
Ronaldo and Ozil combine on the edge of the area well with the latter looking to prod a ball through to the advanced Marcelo but it's ahead of the Brazilian and goes out harmlessly for a goalkick which Javi Varas will launch upfield.
Sanchez with a less than convincing header clear, loops it into the path of Ronaldo who knee's it toward Benzema. The striker looks to return it to 'CR7' with a back heel flick but he doesn't get it right and Navarro hacks clear.
Xabi Alonso looks to keep the ball in play but it just runs out of reach and Sevilla have the throw on the near touch line, niehter side settling as of yet.
The Mourinho update; he is in the stadium. Unless you have been living under a rock you'll now the Madrid coach faces five European matches away from the touchline after el Clasico Champions League mayhem.
Diego Capel looks to chip one forward into Negredo but the ball is a wee bit overhit and runs all the way through to Casillas; in all fairness Ramos was watching it all the way too so no serious danger.
Karim Benzema looks to get underneath a high ball but Navarro rises above the Frenchman to comfortable win the freekick.
And we are way, with Sevilla getting us under way kicking from left to right.
Sevilla are in their usual all white strip, against a Real Madrid side donning their away kit, a navy blue strip from top to toe.
Players just making their way out onto the pitch now, shaking of the hands and such before the football does the talking...
One last fact for you then, been working hard I have, two Real Madrid players are absent because of suspension tonight; Carvalho and di Maria. Interesting to learn that in the four games in which any of these two have been absent Madrid have won....
With the end of the season nearing both of these teams are eight points from where they wish to finish the season. Sevilla are eight points adrift of Villarreal who currently hold the last UEFA Champions League spot, whilst Madrid are the same number of points behind Barcelona at the summit of la Liga.
Reading our Match Preview would mean you already know this; but for all of you who didn't think you needed to (you know for next time), Sevilla have scored at an average of 2.6 goals per game against Madrid in the last seven years. Mental.
Now, about los Blancos' record at the Sanchez Pizjuan....Real Madrid have won just once in their last seven appearances here; although that victory was the last time they were here; a 1-0 victory in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
Jose Mourinho's team selection includes Karim Benzema, who missed the midweek clash with Barcelona, ahead of Higuain. Pepe and Ramos both return to the team sheet after suspensions ruled them out of the same fixture which saw Madrid eliminated from the Champions League.
Sevilla are without Rakitic and Caceres, who are normally start for los Rojiblancos and are expected to be out until the end of the season due to injuries.
Real Madrid Starting XI: Casillas; Arbeloa, S. Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo; Lass, Xabi Alonso; C. Ronaldo, Kaka, Ozil; Benzema.
Sevilla Starting XI: Javi Varas; Fazio, Navarro, Escude, Sanchez; Romaric, Zokora, Capel, Medel; Kanoute, Negredo.
