Made an array of smart saves in the first half which kept his side in the match. Produced an excellent stop from a Di Maria shot inside the box and also successfully batted away an effort from distance from Cristiano Ronaldo. The scoreline would be more if not for the Chilean.
Was guilty all through the game of standing off opponents and allowing them too much room, which resulted in team-mates having to break out of position to fill in. Was also guilty of a few very silly fouls which gave Madrid some respite whenever Sociedad were in the ascendancy.
Was the centre player of the five-man back line so had a certain responsibility to distribute well from the back. However, continually pumped the ball forward to the isolated Carlos Vela, which the Madrid players managed to clean up easily every time.
Failed to see the run of Higuain for the all important Real Madrid goal due to a lack of concentration. Improved in the second half and did not give the Argentine a sniff but the damage had already been done.
Had a nightmare of a first half. Could not deal with the threat of Coentrao bombing down the left hand side. Also failed to pick up Ozil when the German ventured out to the wing. Was just as bad going forward; poor touches and badly executed passes stopped a few potential attacks for his side. Improved in the second half like his team did.
Failed to communicate with the rest of his defenders, which contributed to the goal of Real Madrid. Tried to play Higuain as offside as his team mates missed the run. Did manage to help add solidity in the back line in the second half.
Sociedad's attempted attacking play in the first half was channelled down the right-hand side but the winger could not manage to take advantage of the possession he had. Was outnumbered whenever he received the ball and spent most of his match tracking back. Was substituted on the hour mark.
Got in the faces of Madrid better than his team-mates and kept Ozil at bay fairly well in the first half. However, his distribution was poor and gave the ball away needlessly on more than one occasion. Wasted a great opportunity when Sociedad had plenty of players forward but instead hit a shot from distance that trickled wide.
Failed to get on the ball for his team which resulted in wave after wave of Madrid attacks in the first period. Positioning was better as his post in front of his defence left Mesut Ozil little room to operate, which hampered the attacking creativity of Jose Mourinho's side.
One of the few Sociedad players with any creative licence in the match, but barely offered anything in the final third and when he got the ball, any possible threat was negated by fast-acting Madrid players who fought to get possession back.
he on-loan Arsenal player was extremely isolated as the lone striker for Sociedad. In fairness, he had no service for the vast majority of the match and his only moment of note was a decent shot that Casillas managed to parry away in the second half.
Only a few moments of action for the Real Madrid captain. Had two similar shots to deal with from Carlos Vela and Antoine Griezmann from outside of the box that he managed to parry away to safety.
Has been very impressive in his tenure at centre back. His reading of the play is improving game by game and combined with his determination and passion, he is becoming an integral player for Madrid. Also showed some endeavour going forward and very nearly scored late in the game.
Had very little to deal with and kept it simple in every aspect of his play. Refrained from going on marauding runs from the back and did not award Vela any time or space to affect the play.
Enjoyed his freedom down the left wing, especially in the first half. Gave Carlos Martinez a torrid time with his charging runs. Did well when coming inside also, which led to the Real Madrid goal when he threaded a neat pass through the middle of the Sociedad defence for Higuain to score.
Has been very consistent in the right back position for Madrid. Extremely solid throughout the game. Bought a few intelligent fouls in his own half when Real Sociedad had his side under the cosh.
Was neat as always in the centre of midfield and utilised the Anoeta pitch well with his pin-point crossfield passes. As Sociedad probed for an equaliser, he acted as a calming presence for his side and his intelligence got Madrid through the match.
Had a quiet match up until just before the hour mark. The introduction of Griezmann added pace and quality to Sociedad and Diarra struggled to deal with the Frenchman for 10 minutes before eventually being substituted for Khedira.
Á. di María
Buzzed about dangerously and look a threat when coming inside. Put a few fantastic crosses into the box which none of his team-mates converted, most notably a cross with the outside of his foot to the back post for Sergio Ramos, who failed to score.
A quiet match from the German. Spent most of the game drifting out to the left-hand side as there was very little room in front of the Sociedad defence. Unfortunately, this lack of space hampered his game. Showed neat interplay at times, but failed to pick out dangerous passes.
Took his goal expertly in the first 10 minutes with a delightful dink over Bravo. Drifted in and out of the match after that but continued his brilliant form with a very important effort for his side.
Ineffective. Only attacking moment of note was a speculative shot in the first half that was easily saved by Bravo. Was also petulant in his demeanour and was lucky not to be booked after kicking out at opposition players out of the sight of the referee.
- 13 Adán
- 19 R. Varane

Came into the match when Real Sociedad attempted to mount a comeback. Played simple passes and kept possession.
Slotted in for Diarra well and dealt with the threat of Griezmann more effectively.
- 21 José Callejón
Late substitution for Gonzalo Higuain.
