A virtual spectator in the Madrid goal.
Returning to the side on the left of defence, this was a typical energetic performance from the Brazilian, who came close to scoring with one decent first-half effort and got up and down the pitch as he does so well.
A mature display from the Frenchman, who looked comfortable at the back alongside Pepe and passed the ball with confidence.
Back in the role of right-back, Ramos made some good forward runs and curled one decent effort over the bar, albeit after the whistle had gone. Bundled in Benzema's shot to make sure of second goal - although the ball had already crossed the line - and also headed over a decent opportunity.
A solid performance from the Portugal defender, who helped Varane look comfortable against a discreet Racing attack.
Not at his brilliant best but looked close at times. Set up Cristiano with a corner which the Portuguese headed against the post, before heading across goal for Ronaldo to make it 1-0 moments later. Won the applause of the crowd as he chased to win a ball back, hit the side netting with a very good effort and was involved in much of Madrid's good work.
His partnership with Xabi Alonso continues to blossom and the former Getafe man was a positive influence with his passing again in this match. Also put in a lot of good work defensively.
Kept the passing ticking over in his role of deep-lying playmaker but gave the ball away once or twice. Set up Ronaldo for a good chance which the Portuguese could not capitalise on.
Lively as always but less decisive than usual, Ozil was unable to make a big impact on the game and was replaced by Di Maria with just over an hour gone.
Involved in the first goal and then scored the second himself, albeit in an offside position when he received the ball. Worked hard and tested Tono on a couple more occasions before lashing home a deflected fourth goal for Madrid late on.
Immediately involved as he headed against the post and then nodded Madrid in front from point-blank range moments later. But he also missed several good opportunities and was woefully off target with his free-kicks once again.
Alert to cut out a Cristiano cross early on and saved a stinging right-footed effort from the Portuguese later. Not really much he could have done with the goals.
A good game from the former Espanyol man, who nevertheless fought a losing battle alongside his team-mates as Madrid dominated. Came close with a header and volleyed into the side netting at the other end.
Was having a decent game on the left but saw red after two separate handball incidents, the second of which was highly contentious and it left Racing with a mountain to climb with 10 men.
The right-bck was given a torrid time by Cristiano Ronaldo and his hard challenge on the Portuguese just before half-time could have been red and not yellow.
Worked hard but his partnership with Torrejon could do little to cope with the quality of Kaka, Benzema and Ronaldo early on. Good positioning helped Racing stay in it for a long time, though.
Put in a shift defensively but had too much work to do and that intensified after Cisma was sent off.
Saw little of the ball in attack and was sacrificed after Racing went down to 10 men.
A decent outlet on the right but was pegged back by Marcelo and didn't see enough of the ball. Wasn't able to restrict the Brazilian's influence, either.
Poor passing and wasteful in possession, the midfielder never looked likely to hurt Madrid and could have done more defensively.
Deployed in the playmaker role but was forced to track back and defend most of the time. And that's not his game.
Worked hard in attack but failed to hit the target with his one decent opportunity and was eventually replaced.
- 13 Adán
Came on for Pepe and looked comfortable in the final 15 minutes.
- 15 Fábio Coentrão
Replaced Granero for just under 20 minutes and slotted in seamlessly in midfield alongside Alonso.
Á. di María
Looked a little rusty initially as he replaced Ozil but buzzed around the pitch, put in a couple of decent crosses, scored a wonderful goal as he cut in and unleashed an unstoppable left-footed drive, before he missed a good chance to bag another late on.
- 21 José Callejón
- 20 G. Higuaín
- 1 Mario Fernández
Came on and looked lively as he put in some decent crosses and worked hard to try and create something out of nothing.
- 15 Francis
- 20 Edu Bedia
- 16 K. Bakircioglü
Another late replacement who was left chasing shadows as Madrid continued to attack.
The former Madrid man came on as a late substitute but was unable to exert any real influence.
