Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has a number of injury issues ahead of the visit of in-form Stade de Reims on Saturday afternoon.

Midfielder Clement Chantome suffered injury while on international duty with France, in last week's 1-0 defeat to Japan, joining Thiago Motta on the sidelines. With Italy international Marco Verratti suspended, Ancelotti could be forced to use either Mathieu Bodmer, or youngster Adrien Rabiot, who featured earlier in the Ligue 1 season, in the middle.

Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic trained individually on Thursday along with Mohamed Sissoko, though it is not yet certain that they will be rested, with the club having one eye on the Champions League clash away to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.

Surprise side Stade de Reims are unlikely to alter their team after a good start to the season, in which they currently occupy fifth place, just two points behind Saturday's opponents.

Hubert Fournier will be without striker Nicolas Fauvergue who is suspended, though substitute Gaetan Courtet scored twice in their previous outing, a 3-1 victory over Nice.

  • Paris Saint-Germain endured a 2-2 draw against arch-rivals Marseille in their last Ligue 1 outing.
  • Carlo Ancelotti's side have gone fifteen games unbeaten at the Parc des Princes.
  • PSG have averaged three goals per game in their last six home encounters against promoted sides.
  • The club are yet to concede a league goal in the second half so far this season.
  • Stade de Reims have catapulted to fifth place in Ligue 1, just two points behind the hosts. They can leapfrog PSG with victory.
  • Reims have not conceded a first half goal in the league this season.
  • Hubert Fournier's side have failed to win an away game in 23 attempts in Ligue 1.
  • Reims' Diego and Gael Courtet have scored almost two thirds of the club's league goals so far this season.

The Sweden international has enjoyed a fairly productive international break, and will be returning to add to his impressive nine-goal tally in Ligue 1. The 31-year-old has really settled in to his new club well, scoring important goals, and none more so than his superb double last time out at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille. His big, powerful presence will surely unsettle a sometimes inadequate Reims rearguard.

G. Courtet

With Nicolas Fauvergue suspended, the stage is set for Gaetan Courtet to complete his inspirational comeback. The striker was unfortunately sidelined with testicular cancer last year, and made a miraculous recovery to help Reims in their promotion charge. With four goals so far already this season, the 24-year-old will want to maintain his good form in one of French football's biggest arenas.

Editor's Prediction

PSG have been a formidable side at home, and despite Reims' recent good form at home, their away record speaks for itself, with no wins so far this season, or even in their last 23 trips in the top division. The hosts have been sluggish in their last two outings, and so will want to re-announce themselves with a confident performance.
