Made a number of saves denying Sunderland, but several of them were sloppy, but covered well by Zakuani and Co.
Took a bang to the head early on, but came back on. Made a number of blocks and last-ditch tackles in a fairly solid showing.
Looked nervous early on but grew into the match. Did well to provide a last wall of defence for Lewis by pulling off some good tackles when a Sunderland chance seemed inevitable.
Usually a centre-back, the Manchester United loanee was deployed in the holding role in midfield and pulled off a number of good challenges, but his passing, particularly in the first-half, was very poor.
Given a torrid time by McClean. The youngster ran at the full-back time and time again with the Northern Irishman having the better of the duel throughout.
Provided bite and steel in the Posh midfield as well as some forward drive, but his touch deserted him on several occasions. The Manchester United youngster showed some promise, but was largely disappointing.
Given a tough evening by Larsson and Gardner. Almost gifted the visitors a goal inside the first 10 minutes. Always looked uncomfortable.
One brilliant, mazy run almost ended in a very memorable goal for the forward, but he just missed the target. Always looked to put the Sunderland defence under pressure and was a willing runner, but the supply to him wasn’t great.
Very disappointing from the tricky attacker. Offered very little in terms of support to his teammates and created even less himself.
Similarly to his midfield colleagues, failed to create much in attack, and for the most-part, was a little wasteful in possession. Played better in the second-half but still created little.
A willing runner and put himself about, but he often struggled with the more physically imposing Sunderland defenders.
Comfortable evening in truth. Posh managed a few shots in the first-half, but most, if not all, were off target, leaving the Belgian with only the goalkicks.
Looks glad to be playing football again after over a year on the sidelines. Dealt well with much that was thrown at him, but didn’t have to do too much.
Rarely troubled defensively but didn’t offer McClean enough support in attack, in a surprisingly stunted showing from the former Manchester United man.
Similarly to Kilgallon, didn’t have that much to think about, but made a number of headers to clear pressure.
Solid. Rowe offered a few dangerous forays for the hosts, but more often than not, Bardsley came back with a well-timed last-ditch tackle.
Tricky and vibrant as ever, while his forward passing was also fairly accurate. Often struggled with physicality of Zakuani and Bennett as he started up front by himself.
Composed in midfield, as usual, misplacing very few passes and kept his team moving.
Good performance from a more advanced position than he is perhaps used to. Delivered some good crosses from the right and offered another dimension in attack.
Tackled well, passed accurately and had a generally solid evening in the centre. Booked late on.
Very good evening for the Swede. Opened the scoring in the second half with a well-taken free-kick that found its way through a body of players and then supplied the corner for McClean’s header.
Looks an extremely promising player. On the back of scoring against Wigan, the young Northern Irish winger scored again at London Road, a header from Larsson’s corner. Also hit the bar in the first-half, played in some brilliant crosses and, all round, looked dangerous.
- P. Jones
- J. Thompson
On for Rowe in second half and coped a little better at right back.
On for Wootton 10 minutes into the second half and barely touched the ball.
On for Sinclair with 20 minutes to go, but the youngster came on when the match was already lost.
- D. Lawler
- J. Gordon
- K. Westwood
- M. Turner
Ahmed El Mohamady
On with about five minutes to go so didn’t have enough time to make a difference.
Played the majority of the second half, but did very little to make an impact either way.
- C. Wickham
- R. Noble
On for the last 15 minutes, but didn’t offer too much as the match petered out.
