Commentary

Brazil let a two-goal lead slip in their last match, but with an incredible comeback, they've given a taste of that recipe tonight to Paraguay, who surrender a 92nd-minute equaliser for the second match running. Both teams end the international break with a pair of 2-2 draws, but la Albirroja will feel disgusted with themselves after they dominated matters on the pitch, only to fall to a pair of goals in the final 11 minutes. That's all the time we've got, thanks for tuning in!
Willian
Assist
Brazil
90' + 2' Willian spotted the run of Alves and played the pass right into his path.
Dani Alves
Goal
Brazil
90' + 2' ALVES HAS RESCUED BRAZIL! Lovely strike from the Barcelona man, racing into the box, side-stepping his man and finishing with his weaker left foot to complete the comeback!
90' + 1' Renato Augusto sends a searching ball towards the back post, but it's ultimately too high for Jonas to reach. That may just be the last opening as the home fans celebrate with the final whistle imminent.
90' Brazil have the ball and are prowling around the edge of the area, but there's no way through for them. Paraguay have earned a reputation as a tough defensive team, and are proving it again here.
88' Lima clips a cross out of play, and that affords Paraguay the opportunity to milk the clock a little more from the goal-kick. Brazil win the ball back, but la Albirroja have all their players back in defence.
86' Paraguay will no doubt be remembering what happened against Ecuador in their previous game, where they surrendered a 2-1 lead late on by conceding an equaliser. They would hardly deserve it tonight, but you still mae your own luck (or misfortune).
84' A good move down the left for Brazil sees Hulk beat his man and square one into the penalty area, but it's cleared away before one of his team-mates can pounce. Six minutes for Paraguay to hang on now.
J. Villar
Yellow Card
Paraguay
82' Villar gets a yellow card for time wasting, after he moved at a snail's pace to restart the game from a goal-kick. Suddenly, Paraguay have to eomploy such tactics to protect this result.
Jonas
Ricardo Oliveira
Brazil
80' Oliveira will not get the chance to ride out the momentum of his goal as Jonas enters the fray.
Ricardo Oliveira
Goal
Brazil
79' NOW THEN! Oliveira scores a crucial goal for Brazil! Villar spilled a shot into the path of the striker, who kept his head to tuch his finish under the body of the goalkeeper just before the challenge came in!
76' Paraguay are standing off a little bit too much here, and are inviting some pressure on themselves with their lack of possession. It's providing a little encouragement for the visitors.
74' Next up for Brazil is a match against Ecuador in the Copa America, while Paraguay will travel to Mexico for an international friendly, before embarking on their own Copa campaign against Costa Rica.
72' Lima, fresh off the bench, attacks a cross but can't make the most of it, to his frustration. One or two little glimpses for Brazil in the last few minutes, but they haven't been much more than half-chances.
J. Iturbe
D. Lezcano
Paraguay
70' Lezcano departs, job done once again, with another goal for his country in the bag. On comes Iturbe for the final 20 minutes or so.
Lucas Lima
Luiz Gustavo
Brazil
70' Lima also enters the fray for Gustavo.
68' It's amazing to think that Paraguay are the third-worst Conmebol side in terms of the Fifa rankings. Doubtless that they will be rising soon enough if performances such as this one persist.
66' OVER THE BAR! Augusto latches onto a good ball into the box, but fails to test the goalkeeper with his effort, and looks frustrated at that. First glimpse in a long while for the Samba Boys.
64' The only negative in this game from a Paraguay perspective has been the injuries sustained by Jorge Benitez and Ootiz, which resulted in a pair of enforced changes. No word yet how severe either case is.
62' A good move from Benitez leaves his marker flat-footed, but Santa Cruz can't get ahead of his own defender to latch onto a pass in shooting space. Still, the big striker has been influential since coming on.
60' Only half an hour left now, and there's little to suggest that Brazil can offer anything in the time that remains to avoid sinking to their third defeat in World Cup qualifying. It's been shambolic from them.
58' The commitment from the Paraguay players has been incredible throughout this match, and it's really been a driving factor in their ability to force so many turnovers from the sloppy Selecao.
J. Santana
R. Ortiz
Paraguay
56' There's trouble here for Ortiz, who has taken a knock and needs medical attention. The mobile stretcher is called for, and he departs this game in tears, unable to play any further part. On comes Jonathan Santana.
53' Brazil continue to struggle to put more than a few passes together. Even though Neymar has not been at his best in recent international matches, they're desperately missing that type of game-changer in their ranks.
51' Benitez has now contributed a goal and an assist to send Paraguay into a two-goal advantage, and given how this match has gone, you can't deny la Albirroja a single thing. They deserve this lead.
R. Ortiz
Assist
Paraguay
49' Ortiz has been decisive in the final third, and picked the right pass again.
E. Benítez
Goal
Paraguay
49' IT'S A SECOND FOR PARAGUAY! Santa Cruz starts the move with some intelligent touches, and lays the ball off to Ortiz, who then lifts a pass into the area that is pounced on by Benitez, who converts ahead of his marker!
46' Here we go again.
Hulk
Fernandinho
Brazil
46' Fernandinho is off and Hulk is on in an attacking change.
And that will do it for now from Asuncion, with Paraguay holding a fully deserved 1-0 lead against an out-of-sorts Brazil. Lezcano continues his hot streak in front of goal with the opener five minutes before the break, and the Selecao have the woodwork and Alisson to thank that the deficit is not greater. A lot to play for in the second half, so stay tuned.
45' + 2' Paraguay have a man being treated by the physios, and Brazil nearly make the temporary numerical advantage count, as Oliveira attacks a cross on the turn, but hammers it over the top.
M. Samudio
Yellow Card
Paraguay
45' Another booking just at the end of the half, the third yellow card of the game. This is the clearest one of the lot, as he slid right into Augusto under the nose of Dunga on the touchline.
G. Gómez
Yellow Card
Paraguay
42' Gomez has seen plenty of the ball in the final third, and he tries to prevent Oliveira from doing the same for Brazil, but clips him late and earns himself a yellow card.
E. Benítez
Assist
Paraguay
40' Good run by Benitez, and he lifted his head to pick out his team-mate in enough space.
D. Lezcano
Goal
Paraguay
40' LEZCANO BURIES IT! Paraguay race into a deserved lead five minutes before the break, as a storming attack sees Benitez sprint down the right and deliver a cross to the forward, who finishes high into the net!
38' Less than 10 minutes to go until half-time now, and Brazil will be relieved to still have the score at 0-0. They've offered little in attack but it's mostly been a case of how disorganised their defence has looked.
36' A scrappy period in the game as both sides struggle to keep a hold of the ball, leading to a spell of frustration in the stands. It's Brazil who still look the shakier side out there though.
34' Brazil have done well to navigate that earlier spell from Paraguay, and are now trying to take the sting out of the game, but sloppy passing is preventing them from getting a rhythm going.
32' Paraguay fans behind Alisson's goal appeal for a penalty after some pushing and shoving in the area in the buildup to a free-kick, but there was never going to be a call by the referee on that one.
30' Gustavo takes a piece out of Ortiz, and it looks for a moment that he would follow Miranda into the book, but the referee opts to let him off with just a stern warning instead. Paraguay win the initial header from the set-piece again, but it's cleared this time.
João Miranda
Yellow Card
Brazil
28' First booking of the game and it goes to Miranda, who has committed a few fouls already here. He bundles into a Paraguay player and accepts his yellow card rather sheepishly.
26' WAY OFF THE MARK! A clever reverse ball from Willian puts Costa in a pocket of space, and he beats his man on the edge of the area to set up a shot on his left foot, but he gets nowhere near the target.
24' A foul on Willian by Ortiz gives Brazil the chance to work a bit of possession, but their attempts to gain a foothold in the game disappears when Alves turns the ball over to Benitez.
22' OVER THE BAR! Brazil are shambolic defending a set-piece once again, allowing Paraguay to get the first touch. It's flicked to Aguilar at the back post, but the defender lashes a half-volley above the goal.
20' This is one-way traffic at the moment, with Paraguay dominant from open play and set-pieces. The home fans have been right behind their team from the first whistle, and appear to be intimidating the Selecao.
18' MAGNIFICENT SAVE BY ALISSON! Benitez's initial free-kick is cleared right back to him, and he advances across the byline, whipping a ball into the area that is touched into the path of Gomez, who is denied from inside the six-yard area!
16' OFF THE POST! Great chance for Paraguay as a free-kick is flicked towards goal by Ortiz, where a combination of Alisson and the woodwork deny the visitors the opening goal of the game!
14' Halfhearted appeals for a penalty from Oliveira, but there was nothing doing from the referee. The fouls continue to pile up as Miranda, stand-in captain with Neymar absent, barges into Santa Cruz.
12' Paraguay have definitely been the quicker side to settle into this game, even with an injury to one of their forwards. Most of the action has been concentrated around the Brazil penalty area.
R. Santa Cruz
Jorge Benítez
Paraguay
10' Jorge Benitez is clearly not fit enough to re-enter this game, and he will have to be substituted here. In his place will be Roque Santa Cruz, Paraguay's all-time leading goalscorer with 32 goals.
9' Trouble here for Jorge Benitez, who went down in pain after an innocuous tussle with Filipe Luiz. It looks like his left hamstring that has flared up, and he'll need attention on the sidelines at the very least.
7' Another set-piece for Paraguay, this time a corner. However, Paraguay fail to make anything of it once more as Edgar Benitez's delivery sails over the head of his team-mates at the back post.
5' Busy start for the referee, who has already been forced to award a few free-kicks here. Paraguay win the latest dead-ball, but Gonzalez executes a poor delivery that is cleared before it enters the area.
3' Brazil fashion the first chance of the game and it falls to Willian, who can't generate an effort on target, flashing it high and wide. A lot will depend on the Chelsea man tonight with Neymar absent.
1' Off we go.
Neymar is suspended for this game after picking up too many yellow cards, meaning that Ricardo Oliveira takes his place up front. Gil also gets handed a start in defence, with David Luiz absent tonight.
Only one change for Paraguay following the Ecuador result, with Pablo Aguilar coming into the side in place of Bruno Valdez. Dario Lezcano, who scored twice in that game, begins up top again, partnering Jorge Benitez.
Brazil (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alves, Miranda, Gil, Luis; Gustavo, Fernandinho; Willian, Augusto, Costa; Oliveira.
Paraguay (4-4-2): Villar; Aguilar, Da Silva, Gomez, Samudio; Gonzalez, Ortigoza, Ortiz, Edgar Benitez; Lezcano, Jorge Benitez.
These two sides last met in the 2015 Copa America, where la Albirroja knocked out the Samba Boys on penalties at the quarter-final stage. The last three matches between the pair have ended in draws after regulation, with Brazil most recently tasting victory in 2009, and Paraguay a year earlier.
Paraguay were also pegged back in their most recent outing, courtesy of a 92nd-minute equaliser against Ecuador that saw them record a 2-2 draw as well. Ramon Diaz's team generally don't manage a lot of goals at either end, with five scored and four conceded in their opening quintet of games.
Brazil are coming off a disappointing 2-2 draw with Uruguay, where they surrendered a 2-0 advantage they had gained after the first half-hour to settle for only a point. Since losing their opening qualifier to Chile, the Selecao have not tasted defeat in four games - although two of those were draws.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Conmebol qualifier between Paraguay and Brazil.
