Shots on Target
Chris Hughton will have to wait for his as Norwich boss as his side were outplayed for most of the game. But credit to the hosts, they never gave up and their first win should just be round the corner.
Full time: Norwich 2-5 Liverpool. A fine hat-trick by Luis Suarez, a second consecutive one at Carrow Road for the Uruguayan, sees Brendan Rodgers earn a first Premier League win of the season.
90' + 3'
Credit to Norwich. They are looking for another goal to get back into this one. A bit late but the fact they have not stopped is a credit to them.
Chance for Liverpool. Suarez is not happy with three and attempts a fourth but the shot is blocked when inside the box.
Goal!!! Norwich have a goal back. What do I know? Substitute Grant Holt runs on to a fine ball over the top from Jonny Howson. Martin Skrtel runs over the top of the ball allowing the striker a free run at Reina and he curls the ball past Reina.
And that is what they have done for the past few minutes. They are slowing down the tempo to see the game out at 5-1.
The game has become very open in these last few moments. Both sides trying to get on top of the other. When Liverpool get the ball they keep it rather well.
Raheem Sterling has just tried to take on the entire back five or six and almost has a solo goal to his name but his shot is well blocked. Norwich's defence just watched as he danced around them all.
Oliver Platt has an update on that Gerrard goal: "Raheem Sterling had a low-key first half but he's produced two telling contributions in the second. This time, he hops away from Javier Garrido before rolling the ball across for Steven Gerrard. The captain's shot from the edge of the box is deflected past John Ruddy and trickles over the line."
Chance for Liverpool! Luis Suarez goes close for his fourth and Liverpool's sixth. Sterling has been a lot brighter this second half and finds the Uruguayan with a delightful ball and the striker just prods past Ruddy's goal.
Goal!! Liverpool extend their lead back to four. Great work by the visitors. Having held possession for a while, the visitors' find Sterling, who breaks down the right hand side. He plays the ball to Steven Gerrard whose shot takes a wicked deflection and ends up past a stranded Ruddy.
Break in play as Liverpool make a change. Jordan Henderson replacing goalscorer Nuri Sahin.
And here he is discussing Morison's goal for the home side: "Norwich have a goal back and it doesn't reflect too kindly on Pepe Reina. The Spaniard has played very well up to this point but parries Russell Martin's powerful shot straight into the path of Steve Morison, who makes no mistake with the rebound from eight yards out."
Oliver Platt has an update on Luis Suarez's hat-trick finish: "It's not from the halfway line, but it still completes another wonderful day at Carrow Road for Luis Suarez. Absolutely no pressure is put on the striker as he receives the ball just outside the box and curls an accurate shot past John Ruddy and into the bottom corner."
Goal!!! Norwich get a consolation goal back through Steve Morison. He bundles the ball past a despondent Reina and it is fully deserved for their efforts in the second half.
Goal!!! Luis Suarez does get that hat-trick. He does not know how to score easy goals and he curls an effort from the edge of the box, past an outstretched Ruddy, and into the bottom corner. Two hat-tricks in two appearances at Carrow Road.
Oliver Platt has more on Liverpool's third: "Norwich committed too many men forward in an attempt to grab a quick goal and are punished, with Raheem Sterling starting a counter-attack by speeding away from Russell Martin at the halfway line. The youngster sends Luis Suarez into space on the left and after his initial cross is blocked by Javier Garrido, the striker rolls the ball into the path of Nuri Sahin at the second attempt to leave the Turkish midfielder with an easy finish."
Wes Hoolahan is putting his shirt on and looks ready for action for Norwich and as soon as I say that, the ball is kicked out of play, and he comes on for Surman - much to the delight of the home fans.
How have Norwich not pulled scored in the opening exchanges of the second half? Russell Martin this time with a shot that just goes wide after a bout of pinball in the box where substitute Grant Holt has been getting involved.
Goal!!! Liverpool capitalise on that miss and this time Suarez turns provider and lays the ball across to Nuri Sahin who fires past Ruddy.
Norwich get us underway and immediately should be one back. Somehow Robert Snodgrass scoops over from a yard out after Andrew Surman's volley across goal.
Oliver Platt reports from Carrow Road: “Half-time at Carrow Road where, for the second consecutive season, we've been treated to the Luis Suarez Show. Amid the usual abuse from the home supporters, the Uruguayan has produced some individual moments of stunning quality. Suso has fared reasonably well but Raheem Sterling has been muted, and Suarez has really grabbed the match by the scruff of the neck single-handedly. Norwich are struggling to complete a pass out of defence but have threatened on the rare occasions that they have managed to work the ball to Steve Morison and Simeon Jackson.”
Norwich have their work cut out if they are to get back in this one but as it stands, Liverpool look set to earn their first Premier League win of the season.
Suarez's first came after only 65 seconds, beating Ruddy from the edge of the box after a half-clearance fell at his feet. The second was a piece of brilliance. Having just missed an easier chance moments earlier, he attempts to beat Ruddy with a curling effort with the outside of his right boot and he did exactly that.
Half time at Carrow Road. Norwich 0-2 Liverpool. Luis Suarez has only played here for a game and a half and already has five goals. The home side can not deal with him.
Here's Oliver Platt, who is at Carrow Road, with an update of Suarez's goal: "The two sides of Luis Suarez, showcased in under 30 seconds. Racing through on goal, the Uruguayan shoots an awful side-footed effort well wide of John Ruddy's goal and holds his head in his hands as he is jeered by the Norwich supporters. From the resulting goal-kick, Suarez robs Michael Turner of possession on the edge of the box and fires a brilliant shot with the outside of his foot into the far corner. The Liverpool fans unveil a banner reading 'El Pistolero' and the Reds look to be on their way to their first three points of the campaign."
Robert Snodgrass earns a corner after dazzling Johnson with his trickery but the set-piece is cleared.
Yellow CardLeon Barnett
Goal!!! Luis Suarez is on a hat-trick at the ground he did exactly that at last season. After just missing a one-on-one moments earlier, he nutmegs Michael Turner and bends an absolute beauty with the outside of his right boot past Ruddy.
Brilliant saves at both end. Luis Suarez picks out Steven Gerrard who, point blankly, heads straight at John Ruddy. The ball is cleared down the other end and Morison's shot is deflected and Reina extends an arm one way as his body is going the other and tips round well. The shot came from an offside position but Reina was not to know.
Steven Gerrard whips in a delightful ball into the box and Glen Johnson does well to get to but the ball goes out for a corner. The resulting set-piece is easily cleared.
Chance for Norwich. Oh so close. Simeon Jackson volleys over from six yards after a fine header back from Morison.
Penalty to Liverpool No. No penalty. Referee Mike Jones sees Leon Barnett's nudge into Suarez's back as a coming together. Harsh.
Pepe Reina has to act fast again but his clearance spins sideways and Norwich are nearly in but Snodgrass overcooks his touch, much to his annoyance, and the ball goes harmlessly out of play.
A floating free kick from Bradley Johnson does exactly that and floats long and out of play.
Pepe Reina has to be alert as the onrushing Steve Morison chases down a loose ball.
Jonny Howson has a shot blocked after a brilliant pass and move interchange between Robert Snodgrass and Andrew Surman. Lovely play.
Martin Skrtel is being booed every time he touches the ball as it was his nudge into the boardings which resulted in Garrido receiving treatment.
Chance for Norwich. Andre Wisdon caught napping and Norwich almost get in. Break in play for Javier Garrido as he receives treatment.
Great challenge by Leon Barnet on Suarez. He watched the striker and the ball all the way and he gets the ball first sending Suarez flying.
Chance for Liverpool. Almost a second. Free kick gets whipped in by Suso and Daniel Agger heads just over Ruddy's bar.
GOAL!!! Luis Suarez after only 65 seconds. The ball is only half-cleared and it falls to the Uruguayan international on the edge of the box who takes a touch before rifling past John Ruddy in goal.
We're underway at Carrow Road.
Wes Hoolahan drops to the bench despite a starring role for Norwich away at Newcastle last weekend and Sebastien Bassong and Anthony Pilkington both failed late fitness tests.
Liverpool have only scored once away this season and it was Luis Suarez who notched at Sunderland. He returns to the ground where he scored a hat-trick last season with the pick of the bunch a 49 yard effort.
Norwich, like Liverpool, are winless in the Premier League but have only conceded once in the top-flight this season.
Liverpool begin with a youthful side, with Andre Wisdom making his third appearance for the club and his first Premier League start.
