Alan Pardew's men aim to continue home dominance over visitors who haven't won at St James' Park since 1977, but the Toon must be wary of the Baggies' comeback ability

Newcastle (4-4-2): Krul; Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique; Gutierrez, Barton, R Taylor, Ferguson; Ameobi, Lovenkrands.
Newcastle have been hit with injuries in recent weeks so they are without skipper Kevin Nolan and defender Mike Williamson.

Steven Taylor has impressed since his return and Ryan Taylor had a decent game in place of Nolan last week so expect him to continue in the middle despite the return from injury of Alan Smith.

One doubt for the Magpies could be Jonas Gutierrez who picked up a knock at Stamford Bridge but he is expected to play.
West Brom (4-4-2): Carson; Reid, Tamas, Olsson, Shorey; Brunt, Mulumbu, Scharner, Thomas; Cox, Odemwingie.
Roy Hodgson will probably stick with the same team that beat Everton last week. With the Baggies safe no risks will be taken especially with Graham Dorrans who is expected to miss the game so he can fully recover in time for pre-season.

With Premier League safety guaranteed expect Albion to blood a few youngsters from the bench as Hodgson will look to experiment with his side.

  • Newcastle have won only one of their last eight Premier League final day games.
  • The Magpies have conceded a lower proportion of headed goals - 13 per cent - than any other team in the Premier League.
  • Newcastle have scored 38 goals at home in the Premier League this season; only Manchester United (45) and Chelsea (39) have scored more.
  • The Toon are unbeaten in nine home meetings with the Baggies, who haven’t won at St James Park in the league since September 1977 (3-0).
  • West Brom have never lost on the final day of a Premier League season, winning one and drawing three times.
  • Roy Hodgson’s side have won way 26 points from trailing positions this season, more than any other top-flight side.

This has been an excellent season for the midfielder. He’s improved dramatically both on and off the field and has played a crucial part in maintaining the Magpies' Premier League status.

His delivery from set pieces has led to many goals this season for Newcastle and he has contributed with strikes of his own to boost his already lofty reputation on Tyneside. The Baggies will need to be at their best to nullify him, as if he gets going he can control the game and make life very difficult for the opposition.

His 15 goals in his debut season in the Premier League show how impressive he’s been this term, especially in a team that has languished in the bottom half of the table for most of the campaign.

His finishing ability and movement have caused defences up and down the land all sorts of problems so expect the Newcastle defence to have their hands full on Sunday. The Nigerian’s creative instincts have also endeared him to his team-mates as he’s helped to set up nine goals for Albion this season.
Newcastle have been good at home towards the end of the season despite their injury problems. Their free-flowing style of football helps them to get on top of teams quickly especially at St James’ Park where a first goal is usually followed quickly by a second.
This killer instinct has helped them rack up some impressive home wins this season.

West Brom have improved greatly under Roy Hodgson so expect a close contest in this one. Neither side is great defensively so there could be a goal-fest on offer on Tyneside.
