Could do nothing about Bony's header and was largely untroubled throughout the afternoon.
Didn't get tight enough to Bony and allowed the Ivorian to score from a corner. Improved in the second half.
Had a good battle with Routledge all afternoon but didn't really put a foot wrong. Not great on the ball but looked solid when defending and helped break up Swansea's passing moves.
Solid as usual, dealt with Bony's strength and power and won plenty of headers to contain the Swans attacks.
Moved from defence to attack to accommodate Cisse's injury. Looked a little lost higher up the field and didn't create anything meaningful but almost scored a great half volley.
Did a brilliant job in the middle, kept breaking down Swansea's passing and made some great tackles to start Newcastle attacks. But his performance will be soured after giving away the stoppage time penalty.
Worked hard down the right hand side but didn't create too much going forward. Almost scored with a volley only for Vorm to tip it away.
Held up the ball well and took his goal with aplomb. Was a constant threat all afternoon and used his physical presence to cause the Swansea defence problems.
L. de Jong
Looked lively in the opening half hour and helped set up Ameobi's goal, but was forced off due to an ankle injury.
Missed a golden chance to double his side's lead with a poor header just before half time. Despite that he was industrious and looked dangerous when running with the ball.
Injured in the opening 15 minutes and didn't have enough time to make an impact.
Rarely called into action, partly due to Swansea's solid defending and Newcastle's poor attacking play but may feel he should have done better with Ameobi's first half strike.
Strong performance by the Swansea captain. Kept Ameobi quiet, not that that's a huge achievement but was solid and ensured Remy didn't get a sniff.
Had a good duel with Gouffran down the right but was largely untroubled. Linked up well with Britton.
Was caught out a few times by Remy in the second half but formed a strong partnership with Williams in a stubborn defensive display. Always showed for the ball too.
Looked good going forward and defensively and assisted Bony's goal from a corner.
Great bit of skill to outfox Debuchy but was largely subdued by the Frenchman and didn't create as much as usual.
J. de Guzmán
Didn't get at the Newcastle defence as much as Monk would have liked and was peripheral figure for much of the game when out wide.
Still looks a little confused at exactly what his role is. He seems unsure when to be direct or reserved and gave another uneven performance.
Tidy in possession as always but lacks that killer pass to unlock a defence. Dealt with Tiote's physical presence well.
Brightest player in the opening half for the away side, made some good runs and helped release De Guzman. Faded as the game went on.
Where would Swansea be without this man's goals this season? Another towering header to go with his calm penalty meant another great display by the Ivorian.
Came on for the injured Cisse. Had a good battle with Routledge and De Guzman, got booked but Newcastle fans will be pleased to see him back.
On as a late sub so didn't have time to make an impact.
Made his return to action in place of the injured De Jong. Looked a little behind the pace and you could see he wasn't match fit.
