Y. Cabaye 35'
A. Le Fondre 71', 77'
This win for Reading his huge as it pushes them outside of the relegation zone for the first time since the season began. These back-to-back wins over Newcastle and West Brom could be the springboard they need to survive this season.
Newcastle will be devastated by this defeat, they were on top for 70 minutes but threw the game away after Yohan Cabaye departed. Papiss Cisse should have had a hat-trick today but he didn't have his shooting boots with him. The Magpies are in deep trouble now and may have to do so without the captain Fabricio Coloccini who looks set to leave the club this month.

Yellow Card Jimmy Kebe

It's all over Reading have won here at St James' Park thanks to a double from Adam Le Fondre and have come from behind for the second week in a row to secure a vital three points in their quest for Premier League survival.
90' + 2'
CHANCE!!!! Bigirimana launches the ball into the penalty area where he finds Ameobi, the striker knocks the ball down to Obertan who fires a volley at goal. But Federici is there again to make the save.
Newcastle are trying to throw everything they have at Reading but the visitors are holding strong at the back. They're looking to hit the Magpies on the counter when they can.
CHANCE!!!! Cisse misses a golden chance to get Newcastle level as he fires over the bar with only Federici to beat, after he latched onto Perch's knockdown from Debuchy's cross into the area.
Federici is called on again as Bigirimana fires a dangerous cross into the area but the keeper is off his line in a flash and punches the ball clear which averts the danger for now.
It's Reading who are doing all the pressing now, as McCleary is pushing Newcastle back and is keeping them penned in their own half. The Magpies who have played so fluently are struggling to string two passes together now.
Newcastle are shell shocked by that Le Fondre goal but it had been coming since his arrival on the pitch. He's looked so sharp in and around the six-yard box and he's made the Magpies pay.
Yellow Card Mathieu Debuchy
Assist Hope Akpan
Goal Adam Le Fondre
GOALL!!!!! Le Fondre gives Reading the lead smacking the ball home from close range as Kebe knocks the ball back to him beating Coloccini in the air.
Newcastle are really against the cosh now, as Reading have been inspired but Le Fondre's equaliser. They're now getting all the decisions and are first to every ball.
The Newcastle fans aren't happy with Alan Pardew as he subs Yohan Cabaye. The Frenchman is coming back from a spell on the sidelines but he has been brilliant today.
Assist Jimmy Kebe
Goal Adam Le Fondre
GOALLL!!! Reading equalise out of nothing and it's Le Fondre who gets the goal as somehow forces the ball over the line coverting Kebe's cross from the right. Game on!!
Le Fondre gets a goal with his first touch after replacing Danny Guthrie. Newcastle pay the price for sitting back.
Adam Le Fondre
Fortunately for the Magpies on this occasion Harte's free kick is poor and is easily cleared.
Newcastle keep giving Reading chances to knock the ball into the penalty area as this time Debuchy brings down McCleary when under no pressure whatsoever.
Yellow Card Stephen Kelly
Slight break in play as Gutierrez is down on the pitch after colliding with Kelly.
Yellow Card Danny Guthrie
CHANCE!!!! Pogrebnyak spurns a great chance to get Reading level as fires well over the bar after Kebe had done well to knock Guthrie's hopeful lofted ball into the area back to him, on the edge of the area. Wasteful.
Cabaye is really pulling the strings for Newcastle. He gets free of his man in the middle of the park and plays the ball to Marveaux. His team-mate, lifts the ball over the top of the defence looking for his run, but it's too hard and goes behind for a goal-kick.
CHANCE!!! Reading get presented with a good opportunity from a free kick as Kebe is fouled by Williamson 25 yards out. Guthrie lines up the set piece and fires just over the bar.
Yellow Card Mike Williamson
Newcastle look at ease with the ball, as Coloccini lifts the ball over the Reading midfield to Cisse. The striker takes a touch and finds Cabaye, the Frenchman shoots first time but his effort goes well wide of the post.
CHANCE!!!! Newcastle should be further ahead and Ameobi has missed an absolutely golden chance as he blasts the ball over the bar with the goal gaping from 12 yards out. Poor finishing from the striker.
Another chance for Reading to put a dangerous ball into the area. This time McAnuff puts the ball deep towards the back post but Williamson does well to out jump Pearce and clear the danger.
CHANCE!!!! Reading have an excellent chance to equalise immediately after the restart. Harte whips a free kick in from the right, the ball hits Leigertwood and goes just past the post, with Krul scrambling.
We're back underway at St James' Park.
Our man at St James' Park, Matt Scott, reports: "The Magpies deservedly lead at the break on Tyneside. Papiss Cisse could have had a hat-trick already, but has been denied every time by Adam Federici. There was nothing the Aussie could do about Yohan Cabaye's free kick, however, that whistled into the net from 20 yards. The Frenchman has been absolutely magnificent so far, in his first start for two months, suggesting the Magpies' recent drop in form can be correlated to his absence."
Half-time at St James' Park and Newcastle lead 1-0 thanks to a sublime effort from Yohan Cabaye. The Magpies have dominated this game from the start and should be a lot further ahead but Adam Federici has been in inspired form between the sticks for Reading. The visitors have been poor but did have a chance to take the lead but Pavel Pogrebnyak fired wide, which proved to be costly. They're going to have to play a lot better in the second half to get something here.
Newcastle have eased off slightly as we approach half-time and it will be interesting to see if they can match the tempo they had in the first 30 minutes of the game.
For all Newcastle's dominance so far they aren't looking that convincing defensively with Debuchy especially struggling to cope with the pace of McCleary. Something to monitor in the second half, perhaps.
An opening for Reading as Kelly and Kebe combine down the right, the former whips a ball into the area but no player in blue and white is there and Krul collects with ease.
Justice is done as Newcastle get their goal. They've been all over Reading and fully deserve their lead, but the Royals showed they can comeback as they did last week against West Brom. This game is far from over!
Goal Yohan Cabaye
GOAL!!!!!!! Newcastle take the lead finally! Cabaye lined up the free kick and curled an absolute beauty of an effort into the top corner leaving Federici with no chance. A great strike.
A great chance for Newcastle to finally break the deadlock as Marveaux is fouled on the edge of the penalty area.
Newcastle are all over Reading and how they aren't in front is anyone's guess.
CHANCE!!!! Federici denies Newcastle and Cisse again, with a brilliant save. Anita releases Debuchy down the right and the Frenchman slides the ball across the area where Cisse meets the ball and strikes but Federici makes a point blank save and Reading hack the ball clear.
CHANCE!!!! Another Cabaye free kick causes mayhem in the Reading box, the ball pinball's around the penalty area and eventually comes to Cisse who fires a vicious volley at goal, but it's straight at Federici who makes the save.
CHANCE!!!!! What a chance for Reading! McCleary breaks down the left and beats Debuchy for pace, he cuts the ball back into the middle where he finds Pogrebnyak. But the Russian can only divert the ball wide of the post with the goal gaping.
Another chance for Newcastle to threaten as they win a free kick deep in the Reading half. Cabaye whips the ball to the back post where Coloccini and Ameobi are waiting but the flag is up as the Argentine is offside.
CLOSE!!!! Cabaye lifts the ball over the top of the Reading defence again, this time Mariappa has the lead on Cisse. But his ball back to Federici lacks pace and the keeper has to act quickly to stop the striker blocking his clearance.
Reading have offered very little going forward and their midfield are going to have to do a better job keeping the ball. This time McCleary gifts possession back to Newcastle deep in their own half with team-mates around him in space.
The game has settled again after that Newcastle burst, will they regret those missed chances though. You can't help but feel Demba Ba may have buried one of those opportunities.
CHANCE!!!!! Cabaye lifts the ball over the Reading defence and finds the run of Cisse, the Senegalese striker heads at goal but Federici is there to make another excellent save tipping the ball past the post.
CHANCE!!!! Cabaye is played behind the Reading defence and shoots at goal but Federici makes an excellent stop to deny the Frenchman as he narrowed the angle superbly.
Newcastle's turn to break and Ameobi gets the ball on the right and has Cisse to hit in the middle, but he puts a tame cross into the area and Federici gathers.
Leigertwood releases Kebe with a lovely through ball down the right, the winger takes a touch and tries to find the run of Pogrebnyak but Krul easily gathers the ball. What an opportunity for Reading.
Nice bit of play from Newcastle's new signing Debuchy as he gets out of a tight space between two Reading players and plays the ball across to Coloccini to launch an attack down the opposite flank.
Little forray into the Newcastle half for Reading as Guthrie and Leigertwood combine but as the ball goes forward to McAnuff he's crowded out and loses possession.
Action has calmed for the moment as Newcastle are knocking the ball around nicely in the midfield with Anita dictating the tempo.
Newcastle's turn to threaten from a set piece and Cabaye's free kick goes through a crowd of players to Williamson but he loses his footing and Reading scramble the ball away.
Newcastle under pressure from a set piece from Harte but Coloccini rises highest to clear the danger and Kebe's ball back into the penalty is poor and cleared once more.
Federici has a couple of early touches as Gutierrez's through ball over the top of the Reading defence goes straight into his hands.
We're underway at St James' Park.
STAT ATTACK: Reading have won none of their eight Premier League games against teams in the bottom nine of the current table.
The teams are out at St James' Park, we should be getting underway shortly.
STAT ATTACK: Reading have won two of their last three Premier League matches after only winning one of their opening 19 games.
Our man at St James' Park, Matt Scott, has a great stat attack for us involving Shola Ameobi: " Newcastle have not lost in the last 22 games that Shola Ameobi has scored in, which makes his selection today a little more understandable. A 2-1 defeat at Fulham on November 9 2008, was the last time the Big Sho hit the net and saw his side lose."
STAT ATTACK: Newcastle have only won one of their last seven league games.
Reading manager Brian McDermott has made three changes to his team that beat West Brom last week. New signing Stephen Kelly goes straight into the line-up, along with Mikele Leigertwood and Gareth McCleary.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has made two changes to his team that drew 0-0 at Norwich last week. In come Yohan Cabaye and Shola Ameobi, as James Perch and Gabriel Obertan drop to the bench. New-boy Mathieu Debuchy continues at right-back.
