Y. Gouffran 38'
L. Fer 80'
That defeat is Norwich City's eighth in their last ten league games. What must Chris Houghton do to stop this dreadful run of form? Newcastle will not be worried as in Loic Remy, they have one of the hottest strikers in the league at the moment and continue their impressive run. I hope you enjoyed our coverage today. I have been Hayden Gribble and if you'll excuse me, I must be off! 'Till next time!
FULL TIME: NEWCASTLE 2-1 NORWICH. Alan Pardew's men win their third Premier League game on the trot and climb up the table at the expense of a spirited Canaries side. Remy and Gouffran took advantage of soem slack defending in the first half but put their foot on the break after the break. Leroy Fer's superb header from a corner gave Chris Hughton's side hope but he was unable to have the last laugh against his old side who derserved all three points.
90' + 6'
Yellow Card Ryan Bennett
90' + 4'
CHANCE! Norwich have piled forward and a glorious cross from Redmond is sent into the box and finds Turner, but the defender is offside. Newcastle fans breath a sigh of relief.
90' + 2'
CHANCE! Norwich lose the ball...and Newcastle break! It's two on two and Cisse is pleading for the ball in the box but Remy is greedy and takesthe shot on, which is deflected wide. Corner to the Magpies.
There will be FIVE (yes...FIVE!!!) minutes of added on time!
The clock is ticking...can Norwich find an equaliser? They are finding pcokets of space in the Newcastle back four...
OFFSIDE! Cisse goes a second too early after being put clean through and sees his low effort chalked off for offside.
CHANCE! Oh, poor Cisse. The substitutes combine as Ben Arfa sends a left footed cross onto the head of the Senegal International, but the striekr's effort is over the bar.
Hatem Ben Arfa
Looks like Hatem Ben Arfa will make his bow this afternoon. Cn he make the points safe for Newcastle? Not long to go now!
Assist Nathan Redmond
Goal Leroy Fer
GOAL! Norwich are back in it! The Canaries win four corners in quick succession and Leroy Fer manages to make one count with a bullet header that flew past Krul and into the bakc of the net. Grandstand finish? You bet!
Elmander manages to win Norwich their first corner of the match...in the 78th minute! That sums them up today!
STAT ATTACK - The Canaries scored as many goals against West Ham (three) in their last match as they had done in their previous seven league games. (BBC Sport)
OVER! Oh, what a chance to give Newcastle the late jitters, Olsson whips a cross into the box and finds Fer, who rises above his marker Santon but puts the ball over the bar. That would have been interesting!
This half really has been lacking in the entertaining, exciting 45 minutes that preceded it. Pappiss Cisse is getting ready to enter the fray, will today be the day he ends his goal drought?
TAKE A BOW, SON! Gouffran shows some fancy French flair to turn past three Norwich players and get himself out of a tight spot near the corner flag.
...But manages to fire his effort stright into the wall. What a waste!
Cabaye wins a free-kick for the home side roughly 20 yards out. He lines it up...
CHANCE! Nathan Redmond has been one of the few bright sparks in the Norwich side today and he has a good chance again but manages to fire over from outside the area.
STAT ATTACK - Eight of the last 10 meetings between the two clubs in all competitions have ended as home wins. (BBC Sport)
With just half an hour to go in this game it looks as though the home side are comfortable to hold into their lead,They certainly are not breaking a sweat out there!
The visitors are enjoying a spell of possession but they are unable to penetrate the Newcastle defence. But Norwich are growing in confidence, can they nick a goal soon?
It has to be said that tempo has been sucked out of this game following that injury to Pilkington. Norwich really are having no luck today.
STAT ATTACK - The Magpies have lost only one of their last five league games. (BBC Sport)
CHANCE! Ameobi really deserves a goal this afternoon and he jinks in front of two Norwich defenders but finds his shot deflected into the grateful arms of Ruddy.
CHANCE! Gary Hooper, who has been quieter than a mouse with a sore throat, hooks a shot wide from 12 yards.
INJURY: Oh dear. Pilkington has pulled up with what looks like a knee injury and it looks as though he is in too much pain to continue. The wayhehas reacted to that looks like he might be out for a while. The Canaries' afternoon goes from bad to worse.
We are back underway at St James' Park!
The teams are nearly ready to start again, can Norwich do anything to spark a comeback? The second half is moments away!
HALFTIME - NEWCASTLE 2-0 NORWICH. The Canaries poor away record this season looks set to continue as a Remy goal after just two minutes made it eight goals so far for the Frenchman this season. Redmond and Pilkington came close for the visitors but Gouffran doubled the home sides advantage when he pounced on 38 minutes. What can Chris Houghton do to inspire a comeback from his men?
SAVE! Ruddy dives low to turn astinging shot from Ameobi out for a corner. There will be ONE minute of added time.
HIGH AND WIDE! Remy decides it's time to do a Tiote and blast the ball over from 35 yards.
STAT ATTACK - Norwich have exactly the same points (11) as the same stage as last season, despite spending £25m this summer.
We have five minutes to go before haltime...can Norwich get a goal back?
Goal Yoan Gouffran
GOAL! The scoreboard will say that is Gouffran's goal, but Ameobi was stunning in the build-up. The fans favourite starts the attack on the halfway line and finds his striek partner Remy out wide. The forward lays the ball off to Sissoko woh swings the ball into the box. Ameobi heads towards Ruddy, who spills to an unmarked Gouffran who taps home!
HALF CHANCE! Tiote faces the wrath of the home fans...for shooting from 35 yards!? That's the fourth time he has lashed the ball out for a goal kick so far this half and it's winding the Geordie support right up!
CHANCE! Norwich are so unlucky not to get back on terms. Pilkington manages to get his header to flash across the goal and Krul is in no man's land. Eventually, the Magpies get the ball clear. All it needed was a man in the six yard area as Hooper was struggling to get there in time.
CHANCE! Sissoko shows brilliant movement off the ball to race through two defenders and latch onto an Ameobi through ball, but the Frenchman fails to find the target from inside the area. What a moment to double Newcastle's lead!
STAT ATTACK - Norwich have won just three of their 24 league matches away from home since Chris Hughton took charge. (OptaJoe)
PENALTY SHOUT? The home side apply some pressure on the Norwich defence and Remy manages to swing a shot at goal, but he is impeded slightly. The Frenchman cries foul, but Mike Dean is having none of it.
Chris Hughton will be livid at his side's disasterous start. But to be fair, proceedings have levelled in terms of possession and chances. This game has a good, entertaining tempo to it and the Canaries will want to test Tim Krul again before halftime.
Newcastle win a corner when the ball bounces off Russell Martin and behind Ruddy's goal. What can the home side do here? Norwich deal with the pressure.
HIGH AND WIDE! Newcastle's midfield talisman, Cabaye, decides to line one up from 30 yards. We have seen him hit the target from here, but this one fails to trouble Ruddy in goal.
It must be said that since Remy opened the scoring, I don't think Newcastle have had a shot on goal. But they are knocking the ball around the park like it's a Sunday game, confidence surging around the ground.
STAT ATTACK - 8 - Loic Remy has scored eight and assisted one in just 10 appearances in the league for Newcastle. Allez. (OptaJoe)
CLOSE! Tim Krul is bringing his form from the 1-0 over Spurs into this game. The Dutchman, who made 14 saves in that game, manages to get his hand to a shot from Fer, but Coloccini eventually clears the danger. Good start, this!
OVER! Finally Norwich get their first chance. It's Redmond on the ball, he bears down on goal with only Krul to beat and it's...blasted over. Looks like the winger has left his composure in the dressing room!
OUCH! Cabaye has just clattered into Olsson, who writhes on the touchline near to Pardew's technical area. The Frenchman was entitled to slide in on the defender, but the Swede looks to be in a spot of pain, there. He gets back up and is back on after some treatment.
The visitors are struggling to find a foothold in this game so far. Meanwhile the Magpies are playing the kind of free flowing, attacking football the Geordies support expect from their side.
STAT ATTACK - Newcastle have not conceded a goal in the last three league meetings between these two sides.
Nobody expected a goal that quickly in this game, but all the possession is at the feet of the black and white stripped home side. Chris Houghton has a problem here...
Assist Yohan Cabaye
Goal Loïc Remy
GOAL! Talk about coming out of the block quickly. Newcastle win and early corner and Cabaye swings it into the six-yard-box to be met by - who else - Loic Remy, who nods it home under little pressure from the Norwich defence. What a start!
And we are off at St James' Park!
The teams are on their way out here, kick-off is just moments away!
Not long now untill kick-off. Who is your money on today?
STAT ATTACK - Hide thine eyes, Canaries fans. Norwich haven't won at St James' Park since 1988 when Dale Gordon and Robert Fleck gave them a 2-0 victory on the day!
Menawhile, Chris Hughton makes only his second return to the club he was sacked by in 2010 and makes just two changes to the side who picked up a vital three points against West Ham last time out. Bradley Johnson and Nathan Redmond come in for Johan Elmander and Robert Snodgrass.
Magpies' manager Alan Pardew has been forced into one change today as Fabricio Coloccini comes in for the suspended Mathieu Debuchy as the Tynesiders continue their surge up the table following recent victories over Chelsea and Spurs.
Norwich: Ruddy; Martin, Turner, R Bennett, Olsson; Johnson, Fer, Howson; Redmond, Pilkington, Hooper. Subs: Whittaker, Bassong, Hoolahan, Elmander, Becchio, Nash, Murphy. Ref: Mike Dean
Newcastle: Krul; Yanga-Mbiwa, Coloccini, Williamson, Santon; Sissoko, Cabaye, Tiote, Gouffran, Sh Ameobi, Remy.Subs: Anita, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Haidara, Elliot, Obertan, Sa Ameobi.
