Nearly 2-0 right at the death, Ameobi's shot on the turn blocked.
Big chance for Morison as he reacted first after Norwich won the header from Krul's goal kick. It was two against one with Hoolahan waiting for the square ball but a combination of pressure from Collocini and a poor attempt at a shot from Morison let the home side out of jail there.
Norwich are looking for Morison and Holt with the long diagonal pass from the right, but the Newcastle defenders are standing firm and clearing their lines time after time.
Norwich haven't been able to provide any service for Holt since his arrival despite getting into good crossing positions on a few occasions.
Newcastle 10 minutes away from their first win in four and their first against Norwich at home since 1995.
Yellow Card Zak Whitbread
Norwich fans delighted to see their top scorer Grant Holt introduced here, with only 15 minutes or so left on the clock, can he make a difference?
Ameobi's introduction has certainly helped Newcastle hold on to the ball in the final third. The other substitute Santon hasn't done bad either, he picks up the ball near the halfway line and races towards the byline winning a corner.
Norwich somehow survive going two behind. Perch finds Cabaye in space in the box, the Frenchman turns and stings the hands of Ruddy with a good shot. The loose ball falls to Ba who has two swings at the ball missing it entirely on both occasions. Let off for the visitors.
The goal scorer Cisse comes off for Ameobi as Pardew looks to close out this match.
It's all gone quiet and tense here as Norwich are keeping hold of the ball in midfield. Shola Ameobi is receiving instructions from Steve Stone in the Newcastle technical area.
Tim Krul looks in pain after a goal kick and decides to continue on after a short discussion with the Alan Pardew. Meanwhile Ben Arfa is brought off for Santon, with Gutierrez moving into a more advanced position on the left hand side. Lambert yet to make a change with Holt, Hoolahan and Jackson on the bench.
Hatem Ben Arfa
Yellow Card Elliott Bennett
Great intricate passing from Norwich inside the Newcastle box. Surman and Pilkington at the heart of it. Surman collects Pilkington's threaded ball and rounds Krul but his cut back only finds a Newcastle defender.
Ba picks up the ball outside the penalty area and fires a rasping shot just wide of Ruddy's goal, it was a shot in anger if nothing else.
The crowd is urging Newcastle to attack as they can see visitors are beginning to get on top here. Norwich have seen more of the ball since the break.
Best moment of the game for Norwich. Pilkington is fed by Surman down the right handside and charges into the box firing his shot at Krul who saves well. The resulting corner is swung back in by Bennet and headed by Whitbread who thinks he's scored but is denied by another save from Krul! Paul Lambert has his head in his hands. Two stops from the Dutchman straight out of the top drawer!
Newcastle looking fragile in defence as Norwich cross a couple of balls into the box which the home side don't deal with convincingly. Norwich look a lot more confident since the break.
Cisse looks in the mood in the second period as he tries a speculative effort from all of 30 yards which Ruddy collects at the second time of asking.
Jonny Howson has an early sight of goal in the second half, he chases Pilkington's hopeful ball over the top of the Newcastle back line but blazes the shot high and wide.
The teams are out and it's Newcastle who get the second half underway.
HALF-TIME! Newcastle lead Norwich thanks to a goal from Papiss Cisse. They might be ahead but the Magpies know they should have put this game to bed. Goalkeeping heroics from Ruddy denied Cisse a first half hat-trick. The visitors will be grateful they are still in the contest.

Norwich earn a free-kick 25 yards from goal, but it is struck harmlessly over the bar.
First chance for Norwich, and its a good one too. Bennet's cross is headed only as far as Surman who brings the ball down in acres of space only a few yards from goal, but he couldn't control his shot which is well wide in the end.
Papiss Cisse should have a hat-trick! Gutierrez provides a sublimely weighted through pass leaving Cisse one on one with Ruddy. The striker opts to bend it round the keeper but doesn't direct it wide enough forcing a good save from Ruddy. Norwich have been poor and are fortunate to be only one behind.
It's that man Ben-Arfa again, his cross from the right this time finds the goal scorer on the penalty spot but Cisse's volley is blocked from close range.
Hatem Ben-Arfa is the star of the show so far, he has been at the heart of almost every Newcastle attack.
Free-kick to Newcastle for a foul on Tim Krul who is impeded by Morison as he jumps to collect a high cross. Moments later and the frustrated Morison this time fouls Coloccini who is going nowhere. Norwich have been disappointing so far.
Penalty shout for the home side, Guthrie looks to play a ball into the penalty area which seems to come off the hand of a Norwich defender. Phil Dowd waves away the protests.
Great save from Ruddy! It's Gutierrez again with the cross from the left, it gets a flick on from Ba but Ruddy denies Newcastle a second with a magnificent finger tip stop at full stretch! The resulting corner is again turned away by Ruddy, who at the moment is keeping the visitors in it.
Newcastle are inviting pressure from Norwich and looking to spring onto the counter-attack. They seem fairly comfortable sitting on the 1-0 lead for now.
There is a break in play as a flailing arm from Cisse catches Whitbread who requires some medical attention. Referee Phil Dowd deems it an accident.
Norwich are now settling into the match. A ball over the top is collected by Morison, he holds it up and finds Pilkington but he shoots straight at Krul.
Alan Pardew is furious as Williamson overplays in defense and is dispossessed by Howson. Fortunately for him, the Norwich man fires his shot over the bar.
Norwich string a few passes together for the first time in the match and Bennet directs a cross toward Krul's near post which the goalkeeper collects comfortably.
Newcastle are passing the ball with confidence and waiting for another opening. Norwich aren't applying any pressure on the ball in the Newcastle half.
Assist Jonas Gutierrez

GOAL! Papiss Cisse scores on his return to the first team, Gutierrez fires a tempting cross from the left into the box and the Senegal striker got in front of Whitbread a finished with aplomb! It's his 3rd league goal of the season, Newcastle lead 1-0!
Half chance as Ben Arfa flicks the ball into Ba who passes to Cisse, he the slips in Cabaye down the left but Norwich manage to clear his low cross with three Newcastle players in the box.
Neither team has managed to keep ball so far but Newcastle look the more dangerous in the attacking third.
Wonderful chance in the opening moments, a lofted ball from Cabaye finds Cisse in acres of space. The offside flag stayed down but Cisse couldn't lift the ball over Ruddy. Should have done better from that.
Norwich get the game underway!
This is the first time the Newcastle fans have seen Ben Arfa, Cisse and Ba start a game for the club together. They will be hoping those three can cause the Norwich defense problems.
A minutes applause before the game as both sets of fans and players send their best wishes and prayers for Fabrice Muamba.
