90' + 12'
The referee blows the full-time whistle at Stadium MK, as MK Dons are left to concentrate on their campaign for promotion from League One, while Barnsley are through to the quarter-finals as the on-form side continue fighting on two fronts as they attempt to climb out of the Championship's relegation zone.
90' + 10'
Barnsley are awarded a free kick after MK Dons' Chris Lines was denied a foul. The last few minutes have been uneventful, with the home side deflated after conceding a late goal and seeing Alan Smith sent off in stoppage time.
90' + 7'
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "It gets worse for MK Dons as Alan Smith, who seconds earlier had been named man of the match, is sent off after an aerial challenge. Smith is mystified and Karl Robinson incensed, but the striker walks."
90' + 6'
Red CardAlan Smith
90' + 6'
Alan Smith is sent off! The striker challenged for a header and the referee saw something he deemed a straight red card. It's a shame because the former Manchester United and Leeds striker has been impressive today, and won most of his aerial duels impressively today.
90' + 3'
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "That's that in Milton Keynes. Chris Dagnall, yet again, breaks MK Dons' offside trap and calmly rounds goalkeeper David Martin before finishing into the empty net. Barnsley are headed for the quarter-finals."
90' + 2'
Chris Dagnall runs in behind the Dons' defence to put his side 3-1 up. He rounded goalkeeper David Martin neatly after receiving the through-ball and Barnsley now have a two goal lead with ten minutes remaining.
12 minutes of added time is announced by the referee and it's still end-to-end at Stadium MK.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "A third Barnsley goal looks more likely now as the Dons pour forward and leave gaps at the back for the visitors to exploit. Both Jason Scotland and Jacob Mellis have now missed good chances at the end of swift counterattacks upfield."
Lines advances down the left flank and passes back to Lewington, who is unable to find Chadwick. Barnsley counter-attack quickly through Mellis but the Tykes cannot seal the tie.
After Chris Lines attempts to deliver a cross into the Barnsley box, the Tykes counter-attack through Mellis and Jason Scotland gets the chance to put his side 3-1 up but misses his effort.
Shaun Williams forces a save from Luke Steele from a free-kick, and wins a corner. Alan Smith strikes the ball over the bar from the corner after the goalkeeper had been reluctant to claim the delivery.
Barnsley have come under much more pressure in the second half, which continues going into the last fifteen minutes of the match. The Tykes have missed the hold-up play of Marlon Harewood after he was taken off at half-time.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "So close to an equaliser! Alan Smith rises just outside the six-yard box to meet a free kick and plants a header that Luke Steele does superbly well to tip over the crossbar."
Alan Smith reaches Darren Potter's cross but his powerful header is directed straight at Barnsley keeper Luke Steele who saves the effort. What a chance!
Yellow CardJacob Mellis
Dagnall drags his shot wide after getting forward to get a chance for his eighth goal of the season.
Yellow CardShaun Williams
Daniel Powell threatens again to run in behind the Barnsley defence, having moved forward into a front two alongside Alan Smith.
Daniel Powell breaks into the box but is unable to find substitute Chris Lines, who has appeared from the bench in place of Dean Bowditch.
Sweeper Bobby Hassell is taken off by Barnsley manager David Flitcroft for Stoke's on-loan midfielder Rory Delap, who specialises in long throw-ins.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "For all MK Dons' improvement, Barnsley could have just put this tie to bed. David Perkins wriggles into the box on the left-hand side and fires the ball across goal, but Dean Lewington denies Jacob Mellis a tap-in with a vital header. Good defending."
MK Dons' Dean Lewington almost concedes an own goal after being forced to make a challenge to clear a cross which was about to reach Mellis.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "MK Dons keep coming and look a different team now. Daniel Powell looks to have beaten Scott Wiseman to run through on goal but is tripped at the last moment. The home fans want a penalty, but it's a free kick on the edge of the box and Shaun Williams blasts narrowly over the crossbar."
Dean Peter Bowditch
Shaun Williams went for power and his effort flies over the bar.
Daniel Powell receives a flick-on from Alan Smith and as he dribbles towards the defence he is fouled right on the edge of the box.
Adam Chicksen advances forward down the flank and puts the ball across to Chadwick and raises a cheer from the home crowd, but Barnsley clear.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "MK Dons are back in it thanks to Dean Bowditch, who catches the Barnsley defence sleeping to halve the deficit. Bowditch stretches to knock a pass through the middle past Tom Kennedy and outpaces the centre-back to advance on goal before slotting past Luke Steele. Game on."
GoalDean Peter Bowditch
Dean Bowditch grabs a goal back after running in behind the defence! The winger expertly took the ball around his opponent before finishing, prompting joyous celebration from Karl Robinson. Alan Smith ran forward in support of his teammate but Bowditch took the chance on his own with aplomb.
Play resumes after stoppage.
Substitute Jim O'Brien is readied, as Kelvin Etuhu is stretchered off the pitch.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "Barnsley midfielder Kelvin Etuhu seems to have a problem here - he's been down receiving treatment from paramedics for a couple of minutes now. Best guesses indicate that he was involved in a clash of heads with Adam Chicksen, who is back on his feet and seems fine to continue."
Kelvin Etuhu is knocked to the ground after an aerial challenge and is currently being attended to by medical staff, with a stretcher being readied.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "We might have something of a game left here - MK Dons have come out after the break showing more drive and enthusiasm but they will need a goal soon if they are to get back into this tie. Dean Lewington had a goal-bound header blocked but Jacob Mellis continues to threaten and has just flashed a volley narrowly wide."
Yellow CardJon Otsemobor
Jason Scotland has appeared in place of Marlon Harewood for Barnsley at half-time but was unable to make the most of possession when it came his way following MK Dons' two opportunities.
Luke Chadwick takes a shot which is blocked to appeals for handball, but the referee is unsympathetic. It's been a good start for MK Dons.
The referee gets the second half underway at Stadium MK. Dean Lewington almost gets a goal back after attempting to get his head to a cross from Dean Bowditch.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "Jason Scotland, who has scored three goals in his last three substitute appearances, has replaced Marlon Harewood in attack for Barnsley. Karl Robinson, meanwhile, switches midfielder Ryan Harley out for Adam Chicksen, who goes to left-back. Dean Lewington is now in central defence with Shaun Williams pushing into midfield."
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "This tie has not materialised as the home supporters, who have enjoyed two victories over higher-division opposition, had hoped. Barnsley, though, are good value for their 2-0 lead and have gone into cruise control since Marlon Harewood doubled their lead after 19 minutes."

Yellow CardLuke Chadwick
45' + 1'
The referee blows the half-time whistle, and MK Dons go into the tunnel disappointed after going in 2-0 behind to their in-form opponents from the division above.
Mellis finds Harewood and looks to receive the ball back again, but Scott Golbourne intercepts.
The Dons build an impressive move starting with Lewington on the left flank and moving across to Otsemobor on the right, but Barnsley counter-attack effectively resulting in a Mellis shot which the Dons defence blocks.
Alan Smith has been excellent in the air today and wins another header which Daniel Powell looks to capitalise on as the Dons pour forward, but the attack breaks down eventually.
Barnsley unsuccessfully appeal for a free kick after Mellis goes down after being caught with a flailing arm.
Darren Potter finds Luke Chadwick but Barnsley defend in numbers and thwart the attack comfortably.
Harewood tries to hold the ball up but eventually concedes possession to Lewington, who attempts to find Alan Smith but Martin Cranie clears for Barnsley.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "MK Dons have switched to 4-3-3 now, with Darren Potter sitting deep to pick up the influential Jacob Mellis. That has helped to nullify Barnsley's threat but the Dons aren't showing many signs of sparking into life going forward."
Alan Smith expertly heads the ball onto Daniel Powell who ran beyond him, but the winger was unable to control the ball and keeper Luke Steele could put the ball out for a corner, but the delivery was disappointing.
MK Dons' midfielder Darren Potter combines effectively with Otsemobor and attempts to find left-winger Daniel Powell but his team are unsuccessful in breaching the defence.
Alan Smith attempts to flick the ball on but Bobby Hassell clears promptly and Harewood looks to threaten but the move breaks down.
The match opened brightly and after conceding an early goal MK Dons looked to be regaining their composure, but Barnsley's second looks to have reduced the Dons' morale.
Etuhu cuts out a Dons pass and finds left wing-back Golbourne, who looks to take on Otsemobor but the Dons deal with the danger.
Forward Dagnall presses centre-back Gary McKenzie effectively and forces a nervy clearance from keeper David Martin.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "It's all too easy for Barnsley and this tie already looks a foregone conclusion. Jacob Mellis is key again, sliding a through pass into right-back Scott Wiseman, who takes one look up and smartly cuts the ball back for Marlon Harewood. The big striker has done a superb job in holding the ball up so far and takes his chance from 12 yards to double the lead."
Marlon Harewood extends Barnsley's lead! Dean Lewington gives the ball away and casually expects the ball to roll out of play, but instead midfielder Jacob Mellis takes possession and finds right wing-back Scott Wiseman who releases the barrel-chested front-man who retains his composure to put the Tykes 2-0 up.
Luke Chadwick loses the ball and as Chris Dagnall looks to take advantage, Dean Lewington wins the ball with a commanding challenge.
Jon Otsemobor advances most of the length of the pitch from right back but his teammates are unable to capitalise on his effort.
Williams successfully closes down Kelvin Etuhu's long range effort.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "MK Dons are lucky not to be two goals behind. Again, Chris Dagnall latches on to a pass behind the defence but this time the former Rochdale man can't keep his shot down. Barnsley look a potent force going forward.
Chris Dagnall is allowed to continue running in behind the defence despite appearing offside, but he does not take the opportunity.
Dagnall's pace has complemented Harewood's strength so far, and as the speedy forward attempts to get in behind the Dons defence, centre-back Shaun Williams is alert to prevent the chance.
Harewood attempts to hold-up the ball and allow his teammates forward but the Barnsley attack breaks down.
Gary McKenzie takes a free-kick and Alan Smith flicks on but the Barnsley defence clears. Moments later Dean Bowditch, starting on the right flank, takes a shot in the Dons' best moment so far.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "Barnsley have an early lead at Stadium MK thanks to Chris Dagnall, who finishes a simple move to give the Tykes the advantage. Jacob Mellis was allowed the space to chip a pass behind Gary MacKenzie and Dagnall latched on to the ball to finish with his left foot before Shaun Williams could come across to cover."
Goal Chris Dagnall! Ex-Premier League target-man Marlon Harewood expertly receives the ball and chests down to his fellow Barnsley teammate Jacob Mellis, who threads the ball through to Chris Dagnall who finishes neatly to put the Tykes 1-0 ahead.
Former Manchester United striker Alan Smith receives the ball from a Jon Otsemobor throw-in and passes back to another ex-Old Trafford man, midfielder Luke Chadwick, who gets in a first shot of the game.
The referee gets the game underway at Stadium MK.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "The players have completed their warm-ups and, after a quick performance by The Pigeon Detectives, who are among the bands competing to supply this year's FA Cup final anthem, we're just about ready to get started in 10 minutes' time. The stadium is filling up reasonably well, with 3,000 or so Barnsley fans and around 13,000 expected in total today."
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "It's as expected for MK Dons, with Alan Smith the only senior striking option available for Karl Robinson. The Liverpudlian has been boosted by the recent return of Luke Chadwick, who is integral to everything the Dons do going forward. Barnsley make three changes, with Bobby Hassell, Scott Wiseman and Jacob Mellis coming into their starting XI at the expense of Rory Delap, Stephen Foster and Jim O'Brien."
Barnsley: Steele; Hassell, Cranie, Kennedy; Wiseman, Etuhu, Perkins, Mellis, Golbourne; Dagnall, Harewood. Subs: Alnwick, Foster, Delap, Scotland, Cywka, Rose, O'Brien.
MK Dons: Martin; Otsemobor, MacKenzie, Williams, Lewington; Harley, Potter; Powell, Chadwick, Bowditch; Smith. Subs: Kouo-Doumbe, Chicksen, Flanagan, Alli, Galloway, Lines, Rasulo.
Oli Platt at Stadium MK: "Good afternoon from Stadium MK where MK Dons, fresh off their 4-2 defeat of QPR, will take on Barnsley. The Dons have enjoyed their best-ever run in the FA Cup this season but their disappointing league form has been in stark contrast to that of today's visitors, who have been rejuvenated by the appointment of David Flitcroft as manager."
