Barely had anything to do, and was a spectator for most of the game. Had limited vision for the equaliser, but should still have done much better with Radovanovic's shot.
Huffed and puffed in the final third, but failed to offer a genuine threat. Was often stopped in his tracks and subsequently caught out of position.
Drifted in and out of the game, and generally failed to impress. Looked isolated at times, and lacked inventiveness on other occasions.
An encouraging performance from the defender, who showed great reading of the game and fine positioning. Made a few decent blocks.
The veteran had a strong game, making a number of vital interventions, especially in the first half. Positioned himself superbly, and showed immense anticipation.
Had some trouble with Garcia on the flank, but grew into the game and was formidable at the back. Had little impact in the final third, though.
The former Palermo and Juventus man had yet another good game. Worked tirelessly, and even threaded some fine passes, including the one that led to the opener.
The midfielder did his fair share of defensive work, and made sure Milan had the upper hand in the centre of the pitch. Kept it simple on the ball.
The German had a fine game, showing a wide array of passes and flicks. Worked hard and covered a lot of ground as well. Almost provided an assist with a fine pass for Inzaghi after the break.
Looked a bit rusty, and, at 38, was not as agile as he once was. Still, positioned himself superbly, but failed to convert the chances when they fell to him.
S. El Shaarawy
The forward took his goal superbly, and was a constant danger for Novara. Showed quick feet and mind, and great technique. Blasted a few chances horribly over the bar, but still had a very nice game.
Could not do anything for El Shaarawy's goal, but managed to impress with his command of the area. Organised the defence well, and was dominant in the air. Was rather easily beaten for Pato's strike, though.
Was rarely troubled on the flank, and generally did a decent job at the back. Supported Garcia well on the left side of the defence.
The Stevan Jovetic look-alike was fairly active on the left flank, but failed to offer much in terms of final product, with his crosses often failing to find the intended target.
Could have done better to stop El Shaarawy in the build-up to the opener, and generally struggled when attackers ran at him. Lacked confidence.
The right-back did not get much opportunity to get forward, but dealt fairly well with the threat of Antonini. Kept it simple on the ball, and showed decent positioning.
Was often found lagging behind AC Milan's strikers, meaning he was hardly a hurdle for the Rossoneri's attack. Failed to use his experience to marshal the defence.
The midfielder saw a lot of the ball, but failed to be much of a threat with his passing. Looked hesitant in possession, but did his fair share of defensive work. Popped up with the equaliser with a fine strike.
Showed combative spirit and was at the heart of every good Novara move in this match. Had a decent shot saved by Amelia in the first half, and troubled AC Milan's defence with his positive runs.
Had a busy night in the middle of the park as he constantly had to close down Milan's dynamic midfielders. Made a few good passes, but offered nothing special
The striker missed Novara's best opportunities in the first half, and will be disappointed with his performance in this match. Was often slow and indecisive.
Lacked confidence on the ball, and was often easily dispossessed. Troubled the hosts' defence with his energetic movement, but his final ball was poor.

Provided a much-needed injection of pace an skill on the flank for Milan. Created an fantastic opportunity for Pato in the 98th minute with a superb cross.

Replaced Inzaghi in the second period, and missed a bunch of good opportunities, with one in 98th minute particularly glaring. Quickly made amends, however, by netting the winner.
Completely changed the game after he came on. Novara had no answer to his pace and skill. Demonstrated immense vision to create Pato's goal.

The former Werder Bremen man failed to turn the tide in Novara's favour after coming on.
Inserted much needed dynamism to Novara's attack, and drew a lot of fouls in dangerous areas.
Replaced Morimoto in the second half, but was inefficient in attack.
