While the Community Shield is traditonally seen as the season curtain-raiser, Wigan have already started their campaign. A comprehensive 4-0 victory over Barnsley last week was the perfect start for Owen Coyle and the new Latics boss has no new injury worries to contend with ahead of their trip to London.

However, defender and summer signing Thomas Rogne is likely to remain sidelined with the back injury he picked up during pre-season, but Coyle has plenty of options with Leon Barnett and Emerson Boyce impressing during the season opener at Oakwell.

Republic of Ireland winger James McClean completed his move to the DW Stadium from Sunderland on Thursday, becoming the club's tenth summer signing, and should be involved in some capacity as he looks to make an instant impact.

Meanwhile, veteran Grant Holt is expected to lead the line ahead of fellow new-boy Marc-Antoine Fortune but Gary Caldwell (hip) and Ivan Ramis (knee) are out until at least October.

The future of Wayne Rooney remains uncertain and, despite being named in England's squad for next week's friendly against Scotland, the striker is a major doubt for Sunday's clash according to his manager.

Rooney has missed the majority of United's pre-season preparations with a hamstring injury but is now struggling with a shoulder complaint.

The involvement of defender Jonny Evans and winger Nani is also in question after the pair limped out of the 1-1 draw with AIK on Tuesday.

However, Moyes should be able to call upon David de Gea and Javier Hernandez who are both expected to feature in Rio Ferdinand's testimonal against Sevilla on Friday.

After an impressive string of performances in pre-season, Wilfried Zaha is likely to be afforded minutes while Darren Fletcher (bowel condition) and Nick Powell (leg) remain sidelined.

The Scotland international has struggled in recent years to find consistency but his talent is undoubted. The tricky winger seems to have come into his own at the DW Stadium and enjoyed a fantastic season last year. His ability to find space and wicked shot means that he's a threat to any opposition defence, which was highlighted by six Premier League goals last term as well as eight assists and he bagged a double and an assist in the comprehensive victory over Barnsley last weekend.

With the future of Wayne Rooney still up in the air and United's bid to sign Cesc Fabregas seemingly over, Moyes will be looking to the Japan star to have a greater impact than he did during his first season in England. His performances for former club Borussia Dortmund highlight his ability to play the No.10 role and he could establish a formidable partnership with Robin van Persie should he be utlilised correctly. The 24-year-old will be eager to improve on the six goals he scored last term and Sunday is the perfect place to start.
Prediction
Eight of the last 11 Community Shield matches have been won by side that claimed the Premier League title in the previous season and expect 2013 to be no different in a one-sided encounter.

It must be noted that the Latics defied the odds by beating United's rivals, Manchester City, in the FA Cup final back in May to book a third Wembley date in one calendar year and will be confident of causing another upset in David Moyes' first real test. But, the Red Devils should have too much for their Championship opponents and come out comfortable winners.
