Fulltime at Old Trafford and United get the three points today, despite a very spirited performance from Norwich City. The visitors will be wondering how on earth they didn't score at least once, but United will be relieved to get the win after consecutive draws against Stoke and Basel.
90' + 2'
On the counter, Rooney was so close to getting United's third. The Norwich defence couldn't deal with the long-ball towards Rooney, allowing the ball to fall to the striker. As he approached the area, he once again attempted a chip from outside the area, but this time it goes just over the bar. Ruddy wouldn't have stood a chance.
Some decent late pressure from Norwich here, but you just feel it's too little too late.
Assist Ji-Sung Park
Goal Danny Welbeck
GOAL!!! Game over here as United grab their second of the day. Park did well to get into the area and instead of shooting, he squared it to Welbeck who had an open goal.
This match is so open at the moment. After Norwich attack, United went down the other end, but Welbeck's outside-of-the-boot pass into the area for Giggs was poor.
Norwich with the corner after a poor effort from Morrison. The striker was through on goal, but his shot was hit into the ground and put behind by Rio Ferdinand.
Again, Rooney looks to grab a second for United, but he attempted an audacious chip from 35 yards out, but it was too comfortable for Ruddy.
This time Rooney goes agonizingly close! Giggs plays a great long ball over the top for Rooney. The striker takes on Martin and shoots across goal, but his effort goes just wide of Ruddy's right post.
Great chance for United! Welbeck also grabs his third goal in four days as Jones crosses between the 'keeper and Norwich defence, but Welbeck, on the stretch couldn't quite reach the ball.
So nearly 1-1! Pilkington hits a half-volley from just outside the area, but a deflection completely deceived Lindegaard, bouncing off his right post, before allowing the Dane to jump on the ball. Norwich were incredibly unlucky there.
Yellow Card Danny Welbeck
Norwich almost with a good opening as Hoolahan is found by Morrison in the area, but Jones once again came across to make the tackle and concedes a corner.
Assist Wayne Rooney
GOAL!!! United take the lead! Giggs's corner his smacked to the back and headed back to Rooney by Jones. The England striker flicks it on to Anderson and the Brazilian heads past Ruddy! The midfield has been very poor this afternoon, but that goal was invaluable.
Giggs looks like he means business since coming on, running at the Norwich backline with intent.
What a chance for Norwich!! Anthony Pilkington pounces on a Valencia mistake, but when one-on-one with Lindegaard, he puts his effort wide. Awful finish.
Rooney has been very poor this afternoon. The striker loses possession once again allowing Norwich to counter, and although nothing comes of the attack, Hoolahan gets a shot away, but Lindegaard sees it over.
Norwich are not allowing United to have anything down the wings. Nani looks threatening at times, but he hasn't been as effective as he would have liked. Every time the hosts look to attack down the wings, they are shown inside by the Norwich fullbacks.
United continuting to pressure Norwich, but the visitors look very dangerous on the counter-attack.
Brilliant tackle by Jones! Morrison out-muscled Evans and was through on goal, but when he proceeded to play the ball back to Hoolahan in the area, Jones charged across to make a great tackle.
Anderson should have done better there! Rooney passed forward to find the Brazilian in the box, but he cut it back onto his left foot and his effort goes well wide of Ruddy's right-post.
Good move by United as Nani, now on the left, draws Naughton to him before slipping pass down the outside to Evra who then crosses, but Ruddy does well to catch the ball.
We're back underway at Old Trafford.
Halftime at Old Trafford and 0-0 is the score. United have not been great at all with their passing in midfield being particularly poor, but Norwich should be given credited as they have defended very well.
Nani with an almost-trademark effort as the winger comes inside, drags his foot over the ball before adding a stepover and letting rip with his left foot, but it goes just wide of the far post.
Long ball for Morrison, but Jones does well to marshal the big striker, and nods the ball back to Lindegaard.
United looking for some late pressure in this first half with Norwich again in their own half.
Rooney tussles with Tierney and Johnson before shooting from range, but it goes wide. The England striker looks frustrated with how this first half has gone.
That looked a certain goal! Nani whips in another corner that takes Ruddy completely out of the equation and Rooney leaps for it, but it appears to hit the top of his back and go out.
Another corner for United as Nani's fairly poor delivery meets Fletcher's near post flick on, but Morrison's presence on the post saves it from going in.
The final ball has been United's biggest problem so far. They have spent much of the last 10 minutes just outside the Norwich penalty area, but they haven't looked able to truly make anything. Nani looks a threat, but Park on the left wing does not.
United putting on a bit more pressure now as they hold Norwich in and around their own penalty area, but the visitors' defence are holding strong at the moment.
Great tackle by Evans as he catches up with Morrison and knicks the ball with an impressive last-ditch tackle. The big striker is giving the United centre-backs a headache early on here.
Corner for the hosts as Park marches into the penalty area, but his left-footed strike deflects behind for a corner.
Good cross from Nani as he once again beats Tierney with ease before playing a very good ball from the right, but Ruddy dives out and collects before Hernandez can get to it.
United very sloopy so far. Their passing is far from impressive, particularly from Anderson who has been very poor early on.
Morrison causing Jones and Evans problems once again as he chests down a long-ball before volleying left-footed, but his effort goes wide of Lindergaard's left post.
Wayne Rooney appears to be carrying a slight knock on his groin.
Decent chance for United. Rooney pressured the Norwich defence and blocked a clearance before smashing the ball back across the penalty area, but Naughton produced a great tackle just as Hernandez looked like to was about to hit the back of the net.
United corner. Nani beats his man very easily on the right and crosses left-footed, but before Hernandez can get on the ball it is flicked behind by a Norwich player.
Nani wins a free-kick from some thirty yards out. Taken quite quickly and given back to the Portuguese winger, but his left-footed striker goes wide.
The final ball by United has been very poor so far. Several times in the opening 10 minutesa United player has looked for the forward pass, but failed miserably with it.
Good opening for Norwich there Bennet marched down the right, but when he had to play the final ball, he couldn't get it past the first man. They get a corner, but it comes to nothing.
First chance of the match as Phil Jones surges forward and finds Rooney, but his shot was straight at Ruddy.
And we're underway at Old Trafford.
The last time these two teams met at Old Trafford, United ran out with a narrow 2-1 win Alan Smith scoring with a marvellous volley and Paul McVeigh grabbing the Yellows' solitary goal.
For Norwich, Grant Holt can only take a place amongst the subs as Steve Morrison, a goalscorer last time out against Sunderland, starts alone up front. Elsewhere, Ritchie De Laet is inelligible due to the Belgian being on loan from the Premier League champions.
There are two particularly noticeable changes in the United team with David De Gea dropping to the bench allowing Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard to get his first Premier League start for the club, whilst Park Ji-Sung has replaced Ashley Young on the left wing with the England international failing to make the bench.
The Canaries team looks like this: Ruddy; Naughton, Russell Martin, Barnett, Tierney; Bennett, Hoolahan, Johnson, Fox, Pilkington; Morison Subs: Rudd, Drury, Crofts, Holt, Jackson, Surman, Chris Martin
The United team for today is: Lindegaard; Valencia, Jones, Evans, Evra; Park, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani; Rooney, Hernandez Subs: De Gea , Ferdinand, Owen, Berbatov, Giggs, Carrick, Welbeck
