Saved well from Colback but should have done better with Wickham's second. Dealt well with balls into the box though his distribution was not always perfect.
Still looked slightly off the pace after his knee injury but was more solid than at Anfield on Sunday. Outmuscled Wickham with regularity.
Fortunate to get away with a poor touch inside his own box when Borini fired wide in the first half and was outpaced at times. Carried the ball out of defence well enough.
Looked to push forward on the overlap as much as possible but was rarely found. Strong defensively as very few Sunderland attacks came down his flank.
Like Zabaleta, he was unable to have any real impact going forward, though he did keep the ball and look to play the odd incisive pass. Allowed Johnson to cut inside on too many occasions and lost Wickham for Sunderland's leveller.
Sat in front of the City defence but offered very little other than playing simple balls into the midfield. Never able to lift the tempo of the game.
Handed a start after impressing from the bench against Liverpool, he struggled to make the same impact and gave the ball away far too often in the final third.
Took the opening goal very well despite having all the time in the world to finish past Mannone. Perhaps should have made it 2-0 soon after when he blazed over the bar.
Had plenty of the ball but did precious little with it. Got lucky as Mannone spilled his shot over the line for the equaliser before missing a great chance to win it as he blazed over the top.
Full of running on his return to the starting line-up, he claimed an assist for Fernandinho's opener. His pace caused Brown no end of problems before he was withdrawn early in the second half.
Looked close to his best as he got in behind the Sunderland defence and produced some wonderful touches. His dummy allowed Fernandinho to open the scoring early on.
Should have done better with Fernandinho's opener as he was beaten at his near post. Looked shaky thereafter and cost his side a win with a fumble over the line for Nasri's goal.
One of his better games for the Black Cats as he dealt admirably with the threat of Nasri. Never really a threat going forward.
Caught out of position for Fernandinho's opener and was left for dead on occasion by Milner. Failed to cause Kolarov any problems.
Missed two great headed chances very early on but was strong at the back. Stepped out to intercept a number of passes looking for the City frontmen.
Never got to grips with Aguero and was totally foxed by Negredo's dummy for the opening goal. Lucky to stay on the pitch as he put in a terrible challenge on Aguero in the first half.
Whipped in some excellent set-pieces early on and looked to keep the visitors moving forward. Replaced midway through the second half.
Drove forward form the heart of midfield at every opportunity and forced Hart into a save after he broke the offside trap in the second period.
Lost the ball far too often early on but improved as the game wore on. Sat in front of the visitors' defence and made a number of interceptions.
Put in an excellent showing on his return to the Etihad Stadium as he constantly cut inside and caused City problems. Also got back well to help the defence.
Ran tirelessly down the left-hand side, though he should have levelled matters after Demichelis's mistake. Replaced in the second half.
Anonymous for much of the game, he came to life in the final quarter to turn the game on its head. Volleyed home from close range before a fine finish looked to have won it for the Black Cats.
