Thank you very much for joining me this evening as we took in that 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium. I've been Chris Teale, and it's been a pleasure to have your company.
90' + 3'
FULL-TIME, and Everton take a point against the Premier League champions. That won’t help City’s title challenge, with Manchester United playing the late game against Reading. It was a game slightly low on quality and definitely low on real chances, so both teams will perhaps be glad to take a point, although Everton’s winless streak continues.
90' + 2'
Three minutes of added time will be played.
Free kick Everton, it bobbles away from Hart slightly but his defenders are there to get rid of the ball. Slight worry there for the England man.
Yellow Card Pablo Zabaleta
City pour forward again, but Sylvain Distin is there to head away.
Nasri draws a foul from Jelavic in the centre circle as the game is becoming a bit frantic in the closing minutes.
Maicon digs out a cross from the right but none of his fellow City players can take the ball down and get a shot off.
Jelavic does well to hold up the ball and bring in the overlapping Tony Hibbert, but the right-back can't quite get the ball under control.
The game is starting to stretch out a little bit as both teams start to go for the win. However, neither is able to force a chance in the final third.
Baines sends in a free kick but it's headed away by a City defender. From the resulting corner, the home side clear as Baines can't clear the man on the near post.
Yellow Card Marouane Fellaini
Fellaini is booked for one too many poor tackles, having gone in a little too hard on Zabaleta.
Fellaini is very dangerous in the air and causes some problems as a cross comes in but goes just over his head. How it manages it given his impressive head of hair, no one really knows.
Nikica Jelavic has struggled up front on his own in this game. He looks very isolated as Everton have 10 behind the ball including Tim Howard.
Chance again! Maicon powers forward from right-back and has his brutal shot parried away by Howard.
A chance! A cross comes in from Nasri, but Tevez heads over. Better.
Maicon tries twice to whip in crosses from the right, but fails twice. City haven't got going at all in this half, and neither have Everton.
Toure fouls Fellaini again. Those two have been going at each other in this game, with neither giving an inch.
Samir Nasri was quite quiet in the first half but has burst into life in the second period as he wanders over to the right and tries to burst through. He can't manage it, quite.
That got a little bit physical between Tevez and the Everton defence, but the Argentine can't quite get through to take a shot on Tim Howard.
Tevez is free in the box but his shot doesn't have anywhere near enough power and is comfortably cleared away.
We're back for the second half, which is kicked off by City.
45' + 2'
Yellow Card Joleon Lescott
Penalty Goal Carlos Tévez
Penalty City! Dzeko is brought down at a corner, the referee awards a penalty, and Carlos Tevez steps up to power the ball home and equalise from the spot!
Goal Marouane Fellaini
GOAL!!! Everton are 1-0 up!!! A cross comes in from the left and there is Fellaini to tap home having seen his header initially saved! Great finish from the big man at the back post.
Oh Everton. They have a good amount of pressure but can't make an opening.
Fellaini has the beating of City's central defenders, as he wins a header in front of Vincent Kompany but can't direct the ball goalwards.
Not the most convincing from Howard, who elects to punch away a Silva free kick rather than catch the ball. To be fair, he was under some pressure, but could still have caught it.
Everton have arguably been the slightly better side, as they once again come forward on the left but see a low cross from Baines cleared well.
Marouane Fellaine is a lucky boy, as he gifts the ball to David Silva but isn't punished as City try to be too intricate with their passing and see their chance disappear.
City haven't quite found their rhythm yet, as yet another ball is sprayed long by Yaya Toure and goes out harmlessly.
A long ball is launched towards Carlos Tevez from the back, but he's unable to get anywhere near it with his bounding strides.
City are starting to put the heat on Everton a little bit but with no reward as Zabaleta's cross is straight at Howard.
Unfortunately, Kolarov is subbed off and replaced by Pablo Zabaleta. Poor boy.
Early cross from City's left through Kolarov, straight at Tim Howard.
Everton have started pretty well out there, pouring forward through Leighton Baines but just about being stopped.
Here we go! Everton kick off the first half.
HALF-TIME, and it’s 1-1 in what hasn’t been a brilliant game so far. Everton took the lead through Marouane Fellaini, with Carlos Tevez equalising from the penalty spot. Neither side have created that much, but it’s been an interesting game as both sides look to come forward at every opportunity. If it continues in this vein, the second half should also be very interesting.
Chance Everton! A cross comes in, a header is glanced towards the net and there is Hart to turn the ball away.
There'll be two minutes of time added on.
Great save again from Howard, who deflects Edin Dzeko's stinging shot inside the box away for a corner.
Everton are coming forward again and looking dangerous, but can't quite maintain their momentum as a cross-field pass is hit long and out of play.
City are starting to hammer on Everton's door, but Tim Howard refuses to let them in as he catches Carlos Tevez's deflected shot after he picks up a rebound in the box.
Cracking save there from Howard, who is very fast across his goal to claw away a header.
Fellaini is down under what was a very heavy tackle from Gareth Barry, with Toure in close attendance.
The ball is all over the place but no one seems able to keep hod of it and make their possession pay. Not the greatest passage of play at the Etihad.
Roberto Mancini makes five changes from the side that beat Wigan during the week, with Carlos Tevez starting up front alongside City’s so-called “super sub” Edin Dzeko, with Joleon Lescott, Aleksandar Kolarov and Samir Nasri also starting. Everton are unchanged from their draw with Arsenal, with Leighton Baines coming through after an injury problem.
Then, here’s Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Naismith, Pienaar, Osman, Gibson, Fellaini, Jelavic. Subs: Mucha, Oviedo, Heitinga, Hitzlsperger, Barkley, Vellios, Gueye.
How are the teams looking? First, here’s Manchester City: Hart; Maicon, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov; Yaya Toure, Barry; Silva, Nasri; Dzeko, Tevez. Subs: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kolo Toure, Sinclair, Garcia, Aguero, Balotelli.
Meanwhile, the Toffees are in sixth place, far above Merseyside rivals Liverpool and just four points away from the Champions League places. Everton have had real problems with converting draws into wins, having picked up just five victories all season compared to seven draws. They haven’t won since they beat Sunderland on November 10, so a positive result here would be much appreciated by manager David Moyes.
Manchester City are currently locked in a battle with their city rivals Manchester United for the top spot in the Premier League and are unbeaten in their first 14 games of the season. However, draws seem to be the problem for Roberto Mancini’s men, as their five draws this term have slightly checked their progress. However, with nine wins and a healthy goal difference, they will be confident of defending their crown and beating this Everton side.
Good afternoon, and welcome to Goal.com’s LIVE! text commentary of this Premier League clash between Manchester City and Everton. My name is Chris Teale, thank you for joining me.
