Manchester City switch their attentions to Europe now as they take on Barcelona on Tuesday night in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash. As for Chelsea, they have a week to recover before taking on Everton in the Premier League. Thanks for joining me on this live commentary. Until next time, goodbye.
I think one of the biggest bonuses in that game for Manuel Pellegrini was that several of his fringe players such as Joleon Lescott, Javi Garcia and Stevan Jovetic stepped up to make a big impression. Manchester City were the best side from the first whistle and I don't think Chelsea fans can have any complaints about that result.
FULL TIME: Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea. The quadraple hopes are still alive for Manuel Pellegrini's side as they secure a deserved win courtesy of goals from Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri. Jose Mourinho's side looked a shadow of the team which won here 12 days ago and he will be particularly concerned at how little Costel Pantilimon was tested.
90' + 2'
Oscar combines well with Salah down the right but once again the Egyptian cannot pick out a teammate with his cross. The PA announcer at the Etihad Stadium announces that David Silva is man-of-the-match. In truth, I think several of the Manchester City players could have got it, with Javi Garcia and Vincent Kompany also worthy of the award.
Navas uses his fresh legs to burst beyond Azpilicueta before standing up a cross towards the back post. However, Negredo does not anticipate the cross and Ivanovic heads the ball to safety.
Yellow CardNemanja Matić
It's all heating up in the closing stages here as Nasri becomes embroiled in a confrontation with Mikel before Matic is cautioned after bringing Toure to the floor with a strong challenge. The Ivory Coast international certainly felt the effects of that one.
Hazard has struggled to show his recent blistering form and his intended through ball for Torres is well intercepted by Lescott. The 31-year-old centre-back has not put a foot wrong in the Manchester City defence today.
Yellow CardJavi García
Javi Garcia picks up Manchester City's fourth booking after he brings down Mikel. Oscar then delivers a wonderful ball into the box and it requires a crucial last-ditch challenge from Lescott to prevent Matic from reducing the deficit.
Mohamed Salah has failed to make an impression from the bench and his cross is easily cleared by Javi Garcia. Hazard then floats another ball into the box but it is too close to Pantilimon who comfortably plucks the ball out of the air.
Manuel Pellegrini opts to make another substitution as Alvaro Negredo comes on for Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian can be satisfied with his performance this evening and earns a rest for the final ten minutes ahead of the match with Barcelona.
Chelsea continue to struggle in front of goal as Oscar fails to divert a pass into Salah's path before Azpilicueta sends an ambitious shot over the bar. I can't imagine Jose Mourinho will be too impressed by his side's performance today. They have been second best all over the pitch.
Dzeko is hungry to add his name to the scoresheet but he sees his goalbound effort well blocked by Cahill. Pantilimon is yet to make a meaningful save for Manchester City.
THE BALL IS IN THE NET BUT IT WON'T COUNT! Javi Garcia has enjoyed a fine game in the heart of the Man City midfield and he forces Cech into a good save when he meets a corner with a strong downward header. Mikel then sees his clearance ricochet off Lescott and into the roof of the net but his blushes are spared as the linesman's flag raised for offside.
SO CLOSE TO 3-0! Dzeko has run his socks off up front for Manchester City today and he holds the ball up excellently before teeing up Nasri. The Frenchman meets his lay-off with a fine strike but Luiz produces a good sliding challenge to prevent Chelsea from going further behind.
Jose Mourinho has been "out-tactic-ed" by Pellegrini this afternoon and he decides to make his final change as Oscar replaces his international colleague Willian.
The home fans let out a loud cheer as Milner produces a good challenge to dispossess Hazard. The Belgian has not been at the races this afternoon and that has been a reflection of Chelsea who have been very disappointing going forward.
Jesús Navas González
Manuel Pellegrini feels that the win is in the bag now and he switches his attention to Tuesday's Champions League clash against Barcelona by introducing Jesus Navas in place of David Silva.
NASRI MAKES IT 2-0! The Frenchman makes it a goalscoring return as he plays a wonderful pass beyond the Chelsea defence for Silva before continuing his run into the box and converting the Spaniard's return pass. A one-two of the highest quality! The Chelsea players appeal for offside but the goal stands.
CAHILL TO THE RESCUE! The Chelsea centre-back produces a superb block to deny Dzeko after his poor header had gifted possession to the Bosnian. Can Manuel Pellegrini's side find a second goal?
Jose Mourinho is beginning to get more animated on the sidelines as his side struggle to find a way past the Manchester City defence. In truth, it's been a very comfortable match so far for Pantilimon.
Yellow CardYaya Touré
Yaya Toure becomes the third Manchester City player to be cautioned after he trips Matic.
One substitution apiece here for Manchester City and Chelsea. Samir Nasri makes his comeback from injury to replace the goalscorer Stevan Jovetic while Fernando Torres comes on for Ramires.
The FA Cup door is just starting to creak close on Chelsea here while Manchester City still harness ambitions of the quadruple. Chelsea have in fact won four of the last seven FA Cups.
Yellow CardStevan Jovetic
Jovetic joins Kompany in the referee's notebook for simulation. The goalscorer played the ball past Luiz and then ran into the Brazilian before flinging himself to the floor. Phil Dowd is alert to his playacting however and rightfully brandishes the yellow card.
Silva and Jovetic combine excellently to spring the Chelsea offside trap but the Montenegrin tries to pick out Dzeko instead of going for goal and Luiz uses his pace to get across and make the interception.
Chelsea win a free kick in a good area when Willian is brought down by Jovetic on the right. However, the Brazilian's delivery is poor and fails to beat the first man. Mourinho must be contemplating another substitution soon.
It's all Manchester City at the beginning of the second half and Mourinho's substitution has had no impact at all. Silva delivers a series of corners from the left but Azpilicueta and Cahill rise highest to head clear.
Manchester City are looking dangerous in wide positions and Clichy combines excellently with Dzeko to escape the surveillance of Ivanovic down the left. However, once again he cannot pick out a teammate with his low cross although Jovetics manages to nip the ball away from Luiz before slicing a shot high over the bar.
Manchester City pick up where they left off as Jovetic feeds Milner down the right. The England international sees his low cross blocked by Cahill before he fires the rebound high over the bar.
The teams emerge from the tunnel for the second half and Chelsea get the game back underway. Jose Mourinho has decided to make a change as January signing Mohamed Salah comes on to replace Samuel Eto'o. It seems the Egyptian will play as a false No.9.
Chelsea have looked lacklustre in the first half and you get the feeling that their midweek game has taken a toll on their fitness today. Petr Cech, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta have not looked convincing for the visitors while the in-form Eden Hazard has not got involved as much as Mourinho would have liked. I wonder whether the Chelsea boss will make a change at the break, he certainly isn't afraid of making decisions.
HT: Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea. Stevan Jovetic's well-taken goal on 16 minutes gives Manuel Pellegrini's side a deserved lead at the break. Manchester City have enjoyed the better of the play and the chances, with Chelsea looking a shadow of the side which earned a 1-0 win here just 12 days ago. Big team-talk ahead for Jose Mourinho.
Yellow CardDavid Luiz
Azpilicueta has been exposed on more than one occasion this afternoon and he is relieved when Dzeko fails to get on the end of Milner's fizzing low cross. David Luiz becomes the first Chelsea player to be cautioned after his late tackle on Jovetic.
Manchester City have the chance to test the Chelsea defence when Toure is fouled by Mikel. However, Milner wastefully overhits the resulting free kick and it goes straight out of play.
There are some strong tackles taking place on the field now as both managers shout instructions from the touchline. Mikel produces a good challenge to deny Dzeko before Milner tracks back excellently to break up Willian on the Chelsea counter-attack.
Yellow CardVincent Kompany
Vincent Kompany picks up the first booking of the game after he brings down Hazard. A battle of the Belgians right there.
David Silva was rather anonymous in the recent league meeting between these two sides but he glides beyond Ramires with ease once again. The Spaniard picks out Jovetic on the left but the goalscorer disappointingly fails to find a teammate with his lay-off.
The home fans scream for a penalty when Milner finds himself sandwiched between Luiz and Azpilicueta. However, Phil Dowd is not interested in the appeals and rightfully waves play on.
Hazard shows a glimpse of his quality when he scoops a pass towards Ramires. However, Kompany anticipates the danger superbly and gets across to make a vital interception.
Manchester City win a free kick when Azpilicueta brings down Zabaleta on the right. However, the hosts cannot take advantage as Dzeko's header is well cleared by Cahill. Chelsea have offered very little going forward so far.
Jovetic has been impressive in the first half hour here but he cannot add to his tally as his tame left-footed effort is comfortably held by Cech.
Cech has not been convincing in the opening 29 minutes here and he flaps at Clichy's cross from the left. Fortunately for the Chelsea goalkeeper however, there is no Manchester City shirt gambling at the back post.
That's better from Chelsea! The Premier League leaders switch the ball from left to right excellently and Ivanovic tees up Willian on the edge of the box. However, the Brazilian leans back and balloons an effort high over the bar.
BRILLIANT PLAY FROM MAN CITY! The hosts are dominating the possession at the moment and Jovetic picks out Dzeko outside the box. The Bosnian striker cuts inside the challenge of Luiz before bending a shot towards the far corner which Cech does well to punch to safety.
Yaya Toure is winning the midfield battle at the moment and he bursts forward once again before dragging a right-footed shot wide of the far post. Chelsea look out of sorts at the moment.
SHAKY FROM PANTILIMON! Ivanovic was the difference last time these two sides met and he uses his strength to bulldoze his way down the byline. The Serbian looks to pick out Eto'o with a low cross but it is too close to Pantilimon who spills the ball but pounces on it at the second attempt.
Pantilimon is yet to touch the ball between the sticks for Manchester City and that looks set to continue as Lescott comfortably heads Mikel's cross to safety. Disappointing start from the visitors.
That goal is no less than Manchester City deserve for their endeavours and Chelsea are yet to get going in this contest. Mourinho does not look too pleased on the touchline.
JOVETIC GIVES MAN CITY THE LEAD! Dzeko is the architect as his perfectly-weighted pass picks out Jovetic on the right. The Montenegrin opts to shoot first time and his well-placed finish goes across Cech and into the bottom corner. Where was Azpilicueta?
LET-OFF FOR CECH! Yaya Toure shows his power as he bursts beyond Matic and his powerful effort is spilled by Cech who is relieved to see Jovetic put the rebound against the top of the bar.
Manchester City have started the brighter of the two sides here and they are not allowing Chelsea to settle to ball. Hazard has been particularly quiet in the opening 13 minutes.
It's not been the greatest 11 minutes of FA Cup action this season and Yaya Toure miscontrols Milner's low cross inside the Chelsea box. I'm sure Mourinho will have a lot to say if he ends up being the matchwinner today.
Silva has looked sharp in the opening stages and it is Manchester City who are shading the possession here. Neither goalkeeper has been tested so far.
Gael Clichy gets into a good position down the left but Dzeko does not anticipate his low cross into the middle and a promising opportunity breaks down. Manchester City fans are no doubt anxious for Sergio Aguero's return ahead of the big Champions League clash with Barcelona on Tuesday.
David Luiz was at fault for Anichebe's late equaliser in the week and his raking diagonal pass just fails to pick out Ramires' clever run. The Chelsea fans are making their presence known with a loud rendition of their manager's name.
A slow start at the Etihad Stadium with both sides feeling their way into the contest. Manchester City work the ball out to Milner excellently but his low cross into the box is easily blocked by Cahill.
Phil Dowd blows his whistle and Manchester City get the game underway. Can they avenge their Premier League defeat from 12 days ago?
Phil Dowd appears to have recovered from his collision with Kolo Toure in Liverpool's midweek win over Fulham and he is today's referee. There will be a minute's silence for former England international Sir Tom Finney who sadly passed away yesterday.
Captains Vincent Kompany and Petr Cech lead out the respective sides to a huge roar from both sets of fans. Who will earn the place in the hat for the quarter-final draw? Kick-off is moments away...
These two sides met in the FA Cup semi-final last season when late goals from Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri handed Manchester City a 2-1 win which took them to Wembley where they were suffered a shock defeat to Wigan. The Latics are already in the hat for the quarter-finals after they knocked out Cardiff City while Sunderland continued their great cup form by beating Southampton 1-0.
Yaya Toure was the inspiration behind Manchester City's FA Cup final triumph in 2011 and he can consider himself fortuntate to be starting this afternoon after the FA cleared him of charges after his kick on Norwich's Ricky Van Wolfswinkel. Costel Pantilimon replaces Jo Hart between the sticks while Joleon Lescott, James Milner and Stevan Jovetic are also given the opportunity to impress.
Branislav Ivanovic was the difference when these two sides met 12 days ago and he takes his place in a strong Chelsea line-up. Jose Mourinho makes only one change to the side which drew 1-1 with West Brom in midweek as John Obi Mikel comes in for Oscar. John Terry remains sidelined through injury.
CHELSEA (4-3-3): Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, David Luiz, Azpilicueta; Mikel, Matic, Ramires; Willian, Hazard, Eto'o.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-4-2): Pantilimon; Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy; Milner, Garcia, Toure, Silva; Jovetic, Dzeko.
Without further ado, here are today's lineups...
Manchester City will be seeking revenge after Chelsea ended their 100% home league run just over a fortnight ago. In fact, Manuel Pellegrini's side have experienced a recent blip as their free-scoring attack has failed to find the back of the net in their last two matches. Can they rediscover their scoring touch today?
Greetings everyone, and welcome to what is certain to be an epic FA Cup tie, as Manchester City host Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium in the fifth round. We've got the lineups and all the buildup coming your way before kickoff, so stay tuned.
