  • And there it is, the full-time whistle. Villa have their final chance of a trophy this season removed by a very clinical Manchester City side. Manager Gerard Houllier won't be too disheartned as his young starting line-up was possible a sign of intent that the Villans are loking toward more important priority in the form of Premier League survival. City go on to the sixth round of the competition now to face Everton's triumphant victors Reading. Thanks for joining Uk's live coverage of Manchester City against Aston Villa in the FA Cup adn we hope to see you next time, but for now, good night.

City have proberly their last effort on goal tonight as the ball finds its way to substitute Jo and the Brazilian striker gets off a shot from 18-yards out, but the low shot doesn't have enough on it and Friedel is able to clear up easily enough.
  • 88'
There's a party amongst the City supporters as they play their own match of football between them ignoring the millionaires below as the game comes to its inevitable end. Villa may still push to get a goal, but it doesn't like happening anytime soon.
  • 85'
The visitors are awarded a free-kick just on the edge of their host's area after a handball from Zabeleta. Ashley Young takes it, but has no control on what was always going to be a shot from that distance regardless of their situation, and the ball goes high and wide, leaving Villa without a consolation of any kind.

Villa have had no say in these last few minutes, as they haven't for most of the game. City are still attacking Friedel's goal, with Tevez hitting a powerful effort straight at the American from short distance on the angle, but it need something more than power if the striker were to put Mancini's side four goals to the good.
  • 75'
Houllier may have brought on his big guns in the forms of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing, but the French manager will know that the game is lost and his two stars will use the last 15 minutes or so to stretch their legs to be ready for their league tie away at Bolton this weekend.

Goal!!! And it's game over for Villa, after failing to properly get a grip on this second-half, City finally break down their defence and get their third goal to kill the match. A run down the right from Zabeleta finds its way to Balotelli's replacement Tevez, but is knocked back by Herd, however only as far as Silva and the Spaniard hits it hard and low to get his first FA Cup goal from 18-yards.
  • 66'
Better from Villa. Agbonlahor down the left again using his speed and movement to work the ball into the area, worrying the City defenders. The attacker's quick ball is cleared to the 18-yard line and drops to Petrov who immediately lashes at the chance on his left, but his dramatic effort is too high and City can relax.
  • 62'
Neither 'keeper has been tested in a half known so far more for bookings and complaints from fouled playing staff. City still look the most likely, but have been restricted to long-range efforts, whilst Villa look to bring some control their way and even out the possession once more.
  • 61'
    Yellow Card Gabriel Agbonlahor

A wild effort from Yaya Toure as he looks to add another to his tally goes high and stray into the half-filled stand behind Friedel's goal. City seem to have dismissed Villa's positive start and are looking for a third to kill off this game.
  • 52'
Agbonlahor sprints to catch up with an attacking Richards on the right-side, but fouls the City player with a push on the by-line. The following free-kick is blasted deep into the area and misses Balotelli's head by a hair's length and rolls out for a throw-in.
  • 48'
Villa are awarded a corner after good positive play from Agbonlahor and the set-piece finds Dunne in the middle after a poor clearance City made it only as far as the penalty spot, but the Irishman's header is blocked and Clarke fouls one of the City defenders and the danger is averted through Villa's own doing.
  • 45'
City kick-off to begin the second-half here at Eastlands.
  • Our man at Eastlands, Steve Hewlett, updates us: Half time here at Eastlands and it has been a one sided affair to say the least. Yaya Toure got City of to an ideal start and they built momentum from there on in. Balotelli’s goal was route one but productive nonetheless. It will take something remarkable for Aston Villa to turn this game around. Roberto Mancini will be very pleased with what he’s seen, Houllier will not. 2-0 to City it stands.
  • And there's the half-time whistle and City go into the changing rooms with a healthy lead.
  • 45' + 1'
A training ground routine from a Kolarov corner comes at Balotelli on the 18-yard line with pace and the Italian strikes low, but can't get it on target.
  • 43'
Villa are looking far more positive, but can't find a way through that City defence. The Midlands team seem to be regaining strength in the midfield battle, but are struggling to get any further and persist in allowing their opponents to counter.
  • 40'
After cries from his manager to improve his movement, Gabby Agbonlahor immediately springs to action, working his way into the host's area, but Mancini's men are quickly on to the attacker as he gets to the by-line and give the Villa man nowhere to go. On an additional note, City are looking dangerous on the break.
  • 36'
Gerard Houllier's team look to be taking the possession as the half comes to its concluding period, but don't look to be doing anything particulary important with it and are still getting caught out dangerously in their own third of the pitch.
  • 30'
Villa know they need to act quickly to limit the half-time damage and Heskey is fully aware of this as the visitors try to make something happen, the England international comes in from the left-side and into the City area, finds a space for a shot and gets it off towards Hart's far corner. But the 'keeper is there to get his hands on it and parry the ball and the City defence put it out for a corner.
  • 25'
    Goal Mario Balotelli
  • 25'
Goal!!! City double their lead just over half-way through the first-half. A fantastically accurate ball from Yaya Toure loops over the Villa defence as Balotelli slips inbetween them and taking his time, lets the ball bounce before applying a gently placed shot into the top left-hand corner.
  • 20'
It's all City at the moment especially in midfield, Silva is ruling the second third to his own tempo, with his teammates mirroring the patience of the Spanish international as the hosts build up the play once more.
  • 17'
    Yellow Card Stilian Petrov
  • 14'
Villa try to test City's goal with passing play with Delfounso and Bannan combining in an attractive piece of play, finalising with the former hitting a shot off target. Shame.
  • 13'
Some great play by that man Sliva again. The Spaniard links up with the goalscorer Yaya Toure and the ball finds its way to Richards in space just outside the area, but is unfortunately offside by inches.
  • 11'
City are playing the ball around the pitch nicely and without pressure as they look to settle the game down and gradually push once more at the Villa defence.
  • 5'
    Goal Yaya Touré
  • 5'
Goal!!!! And it's City in the lead after just 5 minutes. An attacking move by the home side leads to a corner which is taken quickly. The set-piece is headed down into the six-yard area clipping Clark on the way down and into the path of Yaya Toure who cracks it in from close range.

And Villa get the game under way.
  • Aston Villa line-up: Friedel; Dunne, Agbonlahor, Bradley, Delfouneso, Delph, Heskey, Petrov, Clark, Bannan, Herd. Subs: Marshall, Downing, Young, Pires, Albrighton, Reo-Coker, Walker
  • Manchester City line-up: Hart; Richards, Boateng, Lescott, Zabaleta; Viera, Barry, Yaya Toure, Kolarov; Balotelli, Silva City Subs: Taylor; Johnson, Dzeko, Jo, Tevez, Boyata, Wabara.
  • Neither side have won the FA Cup for some time now, with City last winning in 1969 and Villa all the way back in 1957. Roberto Mancini's side will still be looking to go all the way in this competition, regardless of their main priority, a much coverted Champions League place. The Italian knows that this, along with the Europa League, will be a rare chance to add something to the club's longing trophy cabinet.
  • Hello and welcome to UK's live commentary for the fifth round tie of the FA Cup between Manchester City and Aston Villa at Eastlands.
