Pulled off some solid saves from Mirallas and Jagielka in the first half but had little to do thereafter. Will have been expecting a busier game.
Flanagan – Had the better of Steven Pienaar all evening and frustrated the South African with his solid defensive skills. Defied his slender years with a commanding display and was given a standing ovation after being replaced.
Will have been relieved to see Lukaku taken off with an injury as the Belgian appeared to have targeted him early doors. Dealt with the threat of Naismith well when he entered the fray.
At times gave Mirallas and Stones too much space down his left flank and slowed the play down a little too much as his side looked to capitalise on Everton being on the ropes. A solid display nevertheless.
A really brave display from the centre half. Blocked a number of Everton shots to keep his side in a commanding position. Distributed cleverly to set up some free flowing counter-attacks for the red.
Tested Howard with a well-executed volley early doors but had a relatively quiet game from then on. Kept the game ticking over with some clever passes and won the midfield battle.
Opened the scoring with a powerful header from a Suarez corner and played every part of the captain’s role thereafter. Didn’t give the Everton attacking players an inch all evening. Loves a Merseyside derby goal.
Perhaps should have opened the scoring when played through by Sturridge but his slotted effort was well met by Howard. His pace frightened a makeshift Everton defence all evening. Proving to be a real influential player in this Liverpool side.
His through ball for the second goal was a thing of beauty to put Sturridge in and frightened the Everton defence with his trickery all game. Replaced late on after an all action display.
Worked his magic to earn his side a corner and then expertly delivered the cross onto the head of Gerrard. A typically hard working display was rounded off when he scored the fourth after dispossessing Jagielka on the half way line.
Everton simply couldn’t cope with the England international who managed to bag himself a brace with two high quality first half goals. Should have made it three when he blazed over from the spot.
Not at fault for any of the goals and pulled off some decent saves to prevent his side conceding further. Distribution skills weren’t at their best but at times put under pressure by his defence. Needlessly gave away a penalty but saw Sturridge blaze over the bar.
Good on the ball but not so good defensively today. Simply failed to cope with the pace of Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling and looked out of sorts all game.
Would have liked to have sealed a positive week after signing a new deal with a result and performance to match but it wasn’t to be. Struggled to match Sterling for pace and didn’t get forward as much as he would have liked. Provided some decent crosses all game.
Had acres of space down the right flank but perhaps not the pace to exploit it. Linked up well with Mirallas down the right but struggled to cope with the pace of Sterling.
At sixes and sevens with his defensive partner, Alcaraz as Liverpool’s forward line showed too much class. At fault for Liverpool’s fourth after he gifted the ball to Suarez on the halfway line. A poor afternoon for the skipper.
Saw a lot of the ball and was the one player looking to make things happen for the blues. At times took on an unrealistic shot when a pass was the better option but didn’t give up.
Started a few decent attacks with his precision passing but didn’t do enough in advanced positions to influence the game. Often pressured into going backwards as Suarez hassled him all game. A quiet one.
Battled all the way and deserved better from some of his team mates. Didn’t back out of a single challenge all evening but failed to make his usual impact on the game. Should have pulled a goal back with a left footed effort mid way through the second half.
Replaced at half time after a frustrating first period. Struggled to get the better of Flanagan down the left and was often wasteful in possession. Replaced at half time for Leon Osman
Stretchered off injured midway through the first half after making little impact beforehand.
Tried his best to influence proceedings with his usual trickery but his efforts were in vein. Tested Mignolet with some fierce drives but it was never going to be enough.
Brought on for the impressive Flanagan late on.
Only given ten minutes to impress and saw little of the ball to do that.
Introduced late on when the game was already won. Made little impression but kept the ball in some tight areas. Should have made it five late on.
Given little time to impact proceedings.
Introduced at half time to replace the disappointing Pienaar and showed glimpses of quality with his quick feet. Often shrugged off the ball too easily and looked lightweight.
Often isolated up top after replacing Lukaku and didn’t see enough of the ball to make any sort of impact. Didn’t trouble the Liverpool defence all evening.
