Showed his experience throughout the match, even when dealing with the trickery of Ibrahim Afellay.
Terrorised by the pace of Lionel Messi and could not deal with the runs towards him. Did however keep the Levante defence an organised and solid unit for the majority of the match.
Guilty of a few rash challenges on the edge of his box but for the most part communicated with his defensive partner to keep the defence well structured.
Forced Dani Alves to come infield to affect the play and did not let the Brazilian make his trademark runs behind the defence.
Was simple in his passing and did not try anything too spectacular, was a calming presence when in possession.
Got the better of Eric Abidal a few times and was determined in his pressing of the ball which forced Barca into a few rash clearances. However, did not manage to get on the ball enough.

Provided good protection for his defence and stopped Barcelona attacks with a few well-timed challenges.
Always a thorn in the side of the Barcelona defenders, who were often struggling to deal with his pace and power. His determination to chase down the ball earned him a goal and epitomised his performance.
