And that my friends is that. Hope you enjoyed my coverage tonight. 2-1 is all she wrote and actually all I wrote...good night!
Bit upset at Elland Road! Banana skin. I told ya! 2-1 to the little (big) guys and Neil Warnock takes Leeds into the fourth round for only the second time in 10 years. Oooff.
90' + 5'
Taken deep...claimed by Jamie Ashdown! And that's it! Leeds have beaten Everton 2-1. Full-time!
90' + 4'
Yellow Card Aidan White
90' + 4'
Crunching tackles on your own men? Check. Crunching tackle on an opponent? Check. Aidan White is booked, last chance for Everton...
90' + 3'
Jason Pearce adds a yellow card to his headband as 'accessories won during tonight's 90 minutes'... for a bit of a set-to with Anichebe. Diouf wins a free-kick off Neville deep in the Everton half with just 30 seconds to go. I think they've done it.
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Marouane Fellaini
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Jason Pearce
90' + 2'
Everton nick the ball off Leeds as they try and hold it in the corner and deliver their own set-piece deep into the box. Nothing doing again though as Fellaini is adjudged to have fouled in the box. And it's FIGHT time. Big ruckus over precisely nothing that eats up valuable seconds...
90' + 1'
Ooof! I got that one wrong...FOUR minutes added on.
Another penalty appeal as Heitinga lobs a ball into the box. Jason Pearce and Victor Anichebe are wrestling but there's nothing doing from the official's point of view. Play on...
Remember when I said Bryan Oviedo was good going forward? Well he just crossed so deep it went out for a throw-in. We're nearing additional time...can't be a lot.
They've left it late but Everton are rolling now. Kevin Mirallas gets down the right but his drilled cross is deflected behind for a corner. BUT...that is one of the worst corners I've ever seen from Mirallas...bobbles through to Ashdown.
And from the corner Nikica Jelavic meets it and plants a firm header at goal! But...it's straight at Jamie Ashdown who holds easily.
Hmmm. Shouts for a penalty as Jason Pearce chest/shoulders a shot behind for a corner...close.
So, who do Leeds reply? They've yet to make a change and I'm sure Neil Warnock has something up his sleeve...but what? Expect an onslaught now.
Goal Sylvain Distin
GOAL!!! Everton pull one back through Sylvain Distin! A wide free-kick is met at the near post by Victor Anichebe and his flick is then turned home by Distin. GAME ON. 2-1 Leeds.
Roll up, roll up. This time it's Steven Pienaar who tries his luck from distance, but again he shoots off target...not his strongest attribute in truth. Time is running out...
Yellow Card John Heitinga
Yellow card for Heitinga as he hauls Diouf down on the halfway line but the real injustice was not allowing an advantage as Aidan White was racing onto the loose ball. Neil Warnock is NOT happy.
You might say some of the defending has been typically Warnockian tonight. Stout and resolute and Everton just can't get a clear chance....
Oviedo gets forward again (he's looked good on the ball) and delivers into Anichebe's feet. As the big man hits the ball on the turn it takes a wicked deflection but loops behind for a corner. And that came to nothing, unfortunately for the Evertonians out there.
Yellow Card Bryan Oviedo
Bryan Oviedo picks up a yellow card on his full debut with a lunging challenge out wide. This was just after conceding possession with a very poor pass. Not a good night for Everton debutants...
Instant response from Everton and Marouane Fellaini's powerful hit from 25-yards is kept out by Jamie Ashdown.
Goal Rodolph Austin
GOAL!!! Diouf's clever pull-back from the wide free-kick is hit first time by Danny Pugh and his shot through a cluster of bodies is deftly touched home by Rodolph Austin. That's his third of the season! 2-0 Leeds.
On the left flank, Seamus Coleman gets the wrong side of Rodolph Austin and hauls him down just on the edge of the box. Dangerous free-kick...
Urgh, just when you think Everton are staging a promising attack it's thwarted by great diligent defending. This time Pienaar is stopped in his tracks.
Another well-taken Diouf corner is only semi-cleared by Everton and it takes a right old hoof by Sylvain Distin to prevent a scrambled effort. Another corner...
Another change for Everton, that's all three done now. Nikica Jelavic joins Victor Anichebe up top in place of Steven Naismith...
Kevin Mirallas gets motoring down the left but he's abruptly stopped by Byrom and he engineers Leeds' own counter-attack. Steven Pienaar jumps in on a loose pass by Becchio to avert the danger though.
Yellow Card Michael Brown
Another chance for Everton! Victor Anichebe uses his strength to roll Lees and fires a low drive across goal but his shot flies just wide of Jamie Ashdown's far post. Close but not close enough.
But when it is finally taken, Victor Anichebe finds space to swing a great cross to the back post to an unmarked Steven Naismith. He MUST score...but doesn't. In fact, he's headed so far wide from so close to the goal, you actually have to applaud him.
Quick free-kicks aren't allowed in Leeds Mr Moyes...the ref pulls a quick one back and the Everton boss rages...
Straight down the other end and Michael Tonge finds space on the left to glide into the box but just as he shifts the ball onto his right, his shot zips past the far post for a goal kick. Good chance for Neil Warnock's men to double their lead there.
Wide free-kick is taken by Everton and the cross finds the towering figure of Marouane Fellaini but his header sails wide. The Belgian looks unhappy with himself, he should have done better.
Decent chance for Everton! Steven Naismith runs onto a pass intended for Anichebe and as the ball is intercepted, Steven Pienaar gets a sight at goal. His effort is wild though and flies into the away fans behind the goal.
This has been a scrappy start and Fellaini takes the next clattering in the middle of the park.
Loose touch from Phil Neville and his next one is a pretty poor tackle on Diouf...Leeds free-kick.
Bit of a tussle between Byrom and Mirallas but it's much ado about nothing really. Free kick to the visitors.
Can't say I'm too surprised by those changes, Everton must do more in the final third and Pienaar should help. Junior was very poor and the experience of Phil Neville should help.
We are back underway at Elland Road. Phil Neville and Steven Pienaar are on for Junior and Magaye Gueye.
So Aidan White's goal separates the teams and was a real high point in a game that hasn't been full of quality. His run and finish came out of the top drawer and gave the hosts a deserved lead. Can they hold onto it? Everton will certainly improve and have a very strong bench to turn to.
Half-time at Elland Road and Leeds go in 1-0 up against a lacklustre Everton.
45' + 2'
CHANCE! Ooh and he almost silences them! Diouf's deep cross is met by Luciano Becchio but Jan Mucha defies him with a firm stop on his line and is relieved to see Steven Naismith hook the ball off the line. Close.
45' + 1'
Diouf is having a whale of a time in front of the Everton fans...really baiting them.
We've got two minutes of added time to be played.
El-Hadji Diouf trots down the right, takes a minor foul from Bryan Oviedo, tumbles and is awarded a throw-in. He then gets up and starts having a go at Oviedo. I'm confused. He had the ball. Is it written into his contract that he HAS to be a moany, spiteful idiot?
OUCH PT II: Jason Pearce leaps up and heads the back of Steven Naismith's noggin. The Scot is seemingly ok but Pearce caught that right on the eyebrow. There's specks of blood, a definite black eye and a man in a daze.
Dear oh dear. Seamus Coleman massively overcooks his return pass to Steven Naismith and it zips off the surface for a goal kick. That more or less sums up Everton so far. Their final product has been far short of what you'd expect and David Moyes is still prowling...
Lovely link-up play by Leeds down the right sees El-Hadji Diouf backheel a ball into the goalscorer Aidan White but his first-time shot is well gathered by Jan Mucha. Excellent move by the hosts.
Anichebe and Gueye link up well but the through ball to Bryan Oviedo is deemed irrelevant as he is flagged offside. That was a good chance for Everton as well.
Rodolph Austin, the Jamaican central midfielder, fancies his chances from 25-yards but Jan Mucha can just watch it totter wide of his left-hand post. Jan Mucha translates to Jon Fly if you're wondering. Jon The Fly. Quite apt for a goalkeeper.
Great period of pressure from Everton but everytime they threaten to really test Jamie Ashdown, something lets them down. This time Magaye Gueye's first-touch is poor and denies him a shooting chance. When the ball is eventually recycled, Ashdown claims the deep cross to relieve the pressure.
CHANCE! Fellaini rolls Bryan Oviedo in on the left flank and the Costa Rican shows great pace to accelerate past his marker. His low cross finds Anichebe but the Nigerian side-foots his shot high and wide. Not really high and wide, just marginally high and wide. It was a tough finish to be fair.
Hmm. Danny Pugh runs up and lashes the ball right-footed at the far post. It has power and pace and judging by his reaction he's close...until you watch the replay and see he was way off target. Poor set-piece in truth.
Really poor from Jonny Heitinga who first gives away the ball on the edge of his box before blatantly shoulder-barging the off the ball runner to concede a dangerous free-kick from the corner of the box. Really sloppy play from the Dutchman.
Marginal offside decision has Becchio reeled back in after he threatened to escape down the channel. Even though the whistle went, he tested Mucha nonetheless with a low drive.
Welcome to English football Mr Oviedo. Rodolph Austin clatters into the Costa Rican leaving him prone on the touchline.
Better from Everton, who find some territory, but when the pass is played by Distin, Magaye Gueye's first touch is pitiful and he cedes possession. It's not clicking for the Toffees yet and David Moyes is on the prowl. He wants to win this competition.
Kevin Mirallas, who has been pretty quiet so far, engages Jason Pearce in a game of 'Strangle the centre-back'. Unfortunately for the Belgian, this is spotted and he concedes a free-kick as he tried to hold off his marker.
OUCH! Victor Anichebe hunts down a backpass and Jamie Ashdown crunches it first-time straight into the big man's abdomen. He winces, takes a minute, before scuttling off and presumably muttering "I'll get you..."
He may look isolated but it's nothing Becchio can't handle. The Argentine front-man looks a demon with his back to goal - already troubling Jonny Heitinga with his strength. It's a great out-ball for Leeds to have.
Better from Everton but again the final ball lacks quality - this time Steven Naismith hurls one to the backpost for precisely...no-one.
Jason Pearce rises tallest in the Everton box from a wide free-kick but his header is tame and drifts wide for a goal kick.
Anichebe does well to hold the ball in the Leeds box but his final product is way overhit. However it allows Everton to get forward and string a few passes together. Ultimately it is fruitless though as Coleman's pass to Fellaini is misplaced.
This is a real baptism of fire for Junior. He was sloppy in the build up to the first goal and he's just been caught in possession again, this time by Michael Brown, who thunders into him and wins the ball.
Everton are not at the races yet. Fired up by the raucous Yorkshire crowd, Leeds are refusing to give their visitors a moments peace.
Everton are rattled and Fellaini concedes a free-kick 30 yards out with a naughty tackle on Rodolph Austin. The free-kick is cleared to safety though.
Goal Aidan White
GOAL!!! Aiden White breaks up play in midfield as he robs Junior of possession and weaves his way past Fellaini and Distin. His touch past the Frenchman is perfectly weighted and his next sends the ball high past Howard for the first goal. What a start for Leeds! 1-0.
A deep Leeds free-kick is met by Becchio but nodded out of play in the first hint of trouble for the Toffees.
A couple of throw-ins apiece and a couple of fouls. It's a scrappy start to proceedings here.
We're off as Leeds take kick-off, shooting from left to right.
If, like me, you were wondering who Junior is, well he's a 20-year-old signing from Benfica. Francisco Junior. He's starting in the middle of midfield while Bryan Oviedo, another new signing starts at left-back.
Not long until kick-off here, in fact the teams are on their way out as I type. Elland Road looks semi-waterlogged actually - expected after the biblical storms we've had up and down the country in the last few days...
Stat time: this will be the eighth time in 11 years that Everton have made it to the fourth round if they're to negotiate their way past Leeds. For the hosts, well, they've only made it that far once in the last 10 (TEN) years. Crikey, maybe this isn't a banana skin at all?!
So that's the admin out of the way, onto the serious business as these two historical clubs go face-to-face for the first time since 2004 (have Leeds really been away from the Premier League for so long?!).
And the subs benches for both: Leeds: Rachubka, Drury, Kisnorbo, Varney, Gray, Thompson, Poleon. Everton: Howard, Jagielka, Jelavic, Neville, Pienaar, Vellios, Duffy.
And Leeds: Ashdown; Byram, Lees, Pearce, White; Austin, Brown, Tonge, Pugh; Diouf, Becchio.
First up, the teams! Everton: Mucha; Coleman, Heitinga, Distin, Oviedo; Naismith, Junior, Fellaini, Gueye; Mirallas, Anichebe.
Do banana skins smell? If they do, this League Cup must reek of them because I smell a CUPSET! Welcome aboard for Leeds United vs Everton in the big fixture of this Tuesday evening. I'm Jay Jaffa and I'll be guiding you through events at Elland Road.
