  • Andrea Stramaccioni stormed down the tunnel when Inter were denied that late penalty and like the Nerazzurri boss it's time for me to make my undignified exit. Thanks to all of you who stuck through with my coverage and stay tuned to Goal.com for more reaction to the match as well as further Serie A action. Until next time, arrivederci!
  • That result means Inter fail to capitalise on Juventus' slip up last night and they remain four points behind their Turin rivals. Next up for the Nerazzurri is Europa League action away to Rubin Kazan on Thursday.
  • Fantastic entertainment at San Siro then, Inter will be left wondering how they weren't able to win as they draw their first game of the season. Meanwhile Ivo Pulga can be very pleased with his side's effort and in truth they may be slightly disappointed not to be leaving with all three points.
  • Full-time INTER 2-2 CAGLIARI. The Rossoblu defence holds firm and secure a well deserved point at San Siro. Inter will be left fuming by that late penalty decision however.
  • 90' + 3'
Philippe Coutinho now tries his luck from range and is denied by a great stop from Agazzi. Every time you see that foul on Ranocchia it looks more and more like a stonewall penalty.
  • 90' + 1'
Oh that is a huge should for a penalty! Ranocchia turns on the edge of the area but appears to be brought down by Astori but the referee isn't interested.
  • 90'
Big chance for Inter and that really should have been the winner. Alvarez rips in a glorious cross to the back post but Nagatomo mistimes his run and ends up infront of the ball as it whizzes behind for a goalkick.
  • 88'
Inter are piling bodies forward and this time it's Samuel who finds himself free at the back post. The Argentine hits his volley into the ground which causes a mad scramble in the box which is ended by a foul on Agazzi.
  • 86'
An absolutely barnstorming finish at San Siro. Inter are laying siege to the Cagliari goal but the Sardinians still look threatening on the counter. There are twists to come yet.
  • 84'
Inter are going for broke now and are almost take the lead. A corner is swung in and Ranocchia joins from the back to firstly head straight at Agazzi before volleying straight at the keeper from the follow-up.
  • 82'
    Own Goal Davide Astori
  • 82'
    Substitution Antonio Cassano Ricardo Álvarez
  • 82'
GOAL!!! INTER ARE LEVEL!! That is extremely cruel. Ricky Alvarez has only just come on for Inter and his first contribution is to fire in a low cross that is diverted into his own net by Astori. All square.
  • 81'
Milito earns Inter yet another corner this time his effort is deflected wide. The home side piling on the pressure now.
  • 80'
There is a pigeon sitting comfortably in Handanovic's net. I think that tells you where all the action is at the moment.
  • 78'
A genuine look of concern across the face of Andrea Stramaccioni. His side are now resorting to long distance efforts, Cassano the latest culprit to waste possession by firing wide.
  • 77'
Some neat work at the edge of the are involving Coutinho, Nagatomo and Cassano but again Cagliari hold firm and Cassano's lob into the box is dealt with.
  • 75'
15 minutes remaining at San Siro and Inter are looking out of ideas. A few balls into the box are easily dealt with by the Rossoblu defence.
  • 74'
    Substitution Marco Sau Víctor Ibarbo
  • 73'
    Substitution Juan Jesus Coutinho
  • 73'
    Yellow Card Daniele Conti
  • 73'
Conti is the latest man in the book for Cagliari as he hauls down Cambiasso. Meanwhile there are changes for both sides as Juan Jesus makes way for Inter to be replaced by Philippe Coutinho and Cagliari's man of the moment Sau is rplaced by Ibarbo.
  • 72'
A series of corners now for Inter as they look to get back in this match. They insist on taking them short though, much to the frustration of the home fans.
  • 70'
It's the visitors who come up with the next chance. A long ball is just to far for Sau to reach but he does well to lay the ball back and create a chance for Ekdal but he blazes over.
  • 68'
    Substitution Andrea Cossu Daniele Dessena
  • 67'
Well that's put the cat amongst the pigeons. Inter will have to start taking risks here to level things up. Remember the Sardinians haven't won here since 1995. They make a change in hope of consolidating their lead, Dessena comes on for Cossu.
  • 66'
    Goal Marco Sau
GOAL!!! SAU PUTS CLGIARI AHEAD! Cossu puts in a brilliant cross to the back post where Pinilla cracks the post with an acrobatic volley. The danger isn't over though as the ball falls to Sau who takes his time to round Handanovic and place the ball in the far corner.
  • 63'
Walter Samuel and Marco Sau tangle in the Inter half and a free-kick is awarded to the visitors. The delivery isn't cleared convincingly and the ball back into the box ricochets into the path of Sau but his header is a tame one.
  • 62'
Booking for Cagliari's Ekdal for a foul on Nagatomo. The Sardinian side are resorting to underhanded tactics to keep the nippy Japanese player at bay.
  • 61'
    Yellow Card Albin Ekdal
  • 61'
Neat work from Cagliari in midfield and the ball is eventually worked to Cossu at the edge of the area. He lines up to shoot but he's leaning back and his effort goes high and wide.
  • 59'
It just isn't the Argentinian's day. Nagatomo again causes trouble down the left and plays it inside for Milito who tries his luck from just outside the box but his half-volley is plamed away by Agazzi.
  • 56'
Cagliari respond with a chance of their own as Conti bursts through the centre and feeds through Sau. The Italian can't find the target this time however, blazing well wide. Open second-half this.
  • 54'
Big chance for Inter to go ahead. The crowd are still appealing for a penalty for a foul on Milito when Nagatomo races into the box and flashes the ball across goal. The cross reaches Milito at the back post but somehow fires over with the goal gaping. Astonishing miss.
  • 52'
    Yellow Card Davide Astori
  • 51'
Cassano is brought down by Astori just outside the Cagliari area and the Rossoblu man is booked. Inter's no.99 cannot make the opportunity count though as he drills his effort straight into the wall.
  • 50'
    Yellow Card Radja Nainggolan
  • 50'
Booking for Cagliari's Belgian full-back Nainggolan for a needless foul in the Inter half. Who knows what he was doing there in the first place.
  • 50'
Big chance for Inter to retake the lead. Cassano takes a long ball down expertly and races to the byline before cutting back to Milito. The Argentinian's goalbound effort beats Agazzi but is blocked on the line by Avelar.
  • 49'
Almost a break for the home side as Rossettini gives the ball away uncharacteristically in the midfield. Cassano manages to find Cambiasso but his back heel can't reach Palacio.
  • 47'
No changes at the break for either side. Incidentally Walter Gargano's first-half booking means he will miss Inter's next league match.
  • 46'
Teams are back out and we are back underway at the San Siro
  • The home side's defence look shaky against the cross and Handanovic has been far too busy for the Nerazzurri's liking. Cagliari haven't beaten Inter since 1995. They'll fancy breaking that run in the second half.
  • Cagliari have been very impressive since going behind. Inter probably thought they'd got away with one when the tricky Nene had to go off but the visitors haven't relented and are deservedly level. They could be ahead as well if it wasn't for the heroics of Handanovic.
  • Half-Time INTER 1-1 CAGLIARI. Well I don't think many of us were expecting this scoreline after ten minutes. Inter have failed to build on their fantastic start and Cagliari deservedly leveled just before the break. A few strong words in that Inter changing room then.
  • 45'
We are into stoppage time at the end of the first half and Inter are suddenly back on the front foot. Milito has the chance to volley goalwards but Agazzi stands firm in the Rossoblu goal.
  • 43'
    Assist Andrea Cossu
  • 43'
    Goal Marco Sau
GOAL!!! It has been coming. Cagliari are level through Marco Sau as the Italian meets Andrea Cossu's inch perfect cross to finally beat Handanovic.
  • 41'
    Yellow Card Walter Gargano
  • 41'
Second booking for Inter and again it stops Cagliari from breaking. This time Walter Gargano is cautioned for a clip on Sau.
  • 40'
    Yellow Card Marco Sau
  • 37'
    Substitution Nenê Mauricio Pinilla
  • 37'
Juan is able to continue but only after a ridiculous looking bandage is placed around his head. Not the best bit of physio work I've ever seen.
  • 36'
Pinilla comes on in place of Nene. Big blow for the visitors as they lose one of their biggest threats.
  • 35'
Hmm, that doesn't look too good. Nene recieved heavy treatment after that header having clashed heads with Juan Jesus. The Brazilians both have to go off for treatment but Nene wont be able to continue.
  • 34'
AGAIN CAGLIARI GO CLOSE! More magic from Cagliari down the left and the cross is met by Nene at the back post who has his header saved by Handanovic once again.
  • 32'
Inter are struggling to get out of their own half here. Zanetti drives with the ball down the right but there is no one in the centre to meet his deep cross.
  • 30'
Handanovic just about holds on to the resulting corner. Cagliari are putting up a fight here.
  • 29'
The visitors force their fourth corner of the match and nearly grab the equaliser as Astori flicks goalwards at the front post but Handanovic produces a terrific fibger-tip stop to keep his side in front.
  • 27'
First booking of the match is given for a foul by Esteban Cambiasso in the midfield as Cagliari attempt to break once more. That's only Inter's 13th booking of the campaign, fewer than any other Serie A side.
  • 26'
    Yellow Card Esteban Cambiasso
  • 25'
Cagliari are getting themselves forward on the break but that is wasteful from Nene who shoots straight at Handanovic with Sau pleading for the ball to played wide.
  • 25'
Cagliari are getting themselves forward on the break but that is wasteful from Nene who shoots straight at Handanovic with Sau pleading for the ball to played wide.
  • 22'
Cagliari have only managed to score two or more goals in a match on one occasion this season in Serie A. They'll have to improve on that to turn this fixture around.
  • 19'
Cagliari are frustrating themselves with a couple of needless offside calls, this time Marco Sau ends a promising move prematurely by straying beyond the last man.
  • 16'
A few predictions coming through from you lot on twitter including @amparo_jonathan who is predicting 6-2 goalfest for Inter. The way this match has started you might not be far off.
  • 14'
Brave defending from Walter Samuel has kept his side in front. Costa chases an apparent lost cause down the left and reaches the ball in time to swing in a dangerous driven cross but the Argentinian puts his head in where it hurts to clear behind for a corner.
  • 11'
That was the first time Palacio has netted in the first half for the Nerazzurri, His previous five strikes have all come after the break.
  • 10'
    Assist Antonio Cassano
  • 10'
    Goal Rodrigo Palacio
GOAL!!! Inter make it look look so easy, and that's probably because it was. Cassano is given far too much time on the left to swing in an inviting cross which is met by a totally unmarked Rodrigo Palacio who nods home from eight yards.
  • 8'
What an effort that was! Inter are caught napping down the left flank and the cross is acrobatically met at the back-post by Cagliari's top-scorer Nene who's volley is beaten away by Handanovic.
  • 7'
Big chance for Inter as Antonio Cassano swings in a dangerous free kick which is met by the head of Juan Jesus but the big Brazilian can only direct his header off target.
  • 5'
Albin Ekdal lets fly from way out for Calgiari. That ball stayed hit but was always flying wide of Samir Handanovic's left hand post.
  • 3'
Empty seats aplenty at the San Siro as usual. If you've taken up your seat at home why not get involved with the action. You can get in touch via twitter by tweeting @harryslavin. Let me hear your predictions and opinions of how the action will unfurl.
  • 1'
We are underway at the San Siro, and already Diego Milito is causing problems for the visitors. Inter pounce on a mistake and the Argentinian drives forward but his shot blocked. From the resulting corner the ball falls to the forward again but he can only dig his shot over the crossbar.
  • One problem facing Catania is their inability to score this season. Inter have had no such problems in this fixture scoring in each of their last 28 outings against the Rossublu.
  • Their opponents today meanwhile are looking to put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Ivo Pulga turned the clubs fortunes around when was appointed manager at the beginning of October, winning all four of his first matches but a reality check against Fiorentina and last weeks draw with Catania has signaled the end of the honeymoon period.
  • So Inter are looking to move within three points of Juventus after the perfect set of results yesterday. The Serie A League leaders were held to a goalless draw by Lazio while third place Napoli threw away a two-goal lead at home to AC Milan. Andrea Stramaccioni will be hoping his team can capitalise on those results on those results today.
  • And here is how the visitors take to the field: Cagliari: Agazzi, Nsinggolan, Conti, Cossu, Avelar, Astori, Pisano, Rossettini, Nene, Ekdal, Sau. Subs: Avramov, Thiago Ribeiro, Dessena, Ibarbo, Perico, Casarini, Pinilla.
  • Let's dive straight into the action with some team news shall we? This is how the home side line up: Inter: Handanovic, Ranocchia, Samuel, Juan, Zanetti, Gargano, Cambiasso, Nagatomo, Palacio, Milito, Cassano. Subs: Castellazzi, Belec, Silvestre, Coutinho, Alvarez, Mariga, Pereira, Mbaye, Duncan, Jonathan, Romano.
