The goalkeeper can hardly be blamed for the defeat as he did everything possible to keep his net safe. A highlight was his reflex save on Lewandowski in the build-up to the sole goal of the game.
Tried to be too clever at times and occasionally paid the price. Made a few mistakes at the back, but always showed a willingness to help out in attack.
Credited with one decent cross in the first half, which proved to be the only highlight from his performance before the break. Committed a few petty fouls, but generally did well defensively.
Worked well in sync with Hubnik and provided a solid base for his team. Often drifted further back to sweep any loose balls. Impressive in a second game running against Borussia Dortmund.
Had a torrid time against Kuba and Piszczek, who barely gave him a moment of rest. Had absolutely no influence in the attacking third.

The attacker had a few bright moments, but was guilty of a bad miss in the 51st minute. Showed occasional flashes of blistering pace, but was generally kept under wraps by Schmelzer.
The Brazilian would like to forget this game quickly. Was gifted two clear-cut chances by Hummels, but could not convert them. He is clearly lacking confidence in his own finish and technique this days.
The Colombian combined the brilliant and hilarious all in one in this match. Showed some immense touches on the ball and few superb passes, but also inept shots and useless dribbles. Went close to scoring just after the hour mark.
Showed plenty of desire, but little end product. Disappointing game by the Australia international, who hardly made an impact.
The goalkeeper had virtually nothing to do in this match. Did well to close down the angle on Raffael in the 51st minute and should be credited with some good rushes off his line.
The Serbia international had an average first half as he found himself behind the action on a couple of occasions. Improved as the game progressed and showed good positioning after the break.
Even Hummels has a bad game once in a while and this one in particular was ghastly. Gifted two clear-cut chances to Raffael and lacked concentration throughout the whole game.
The Polish defender's incisive attacking on the right was a key component in Dortmund's play in the final third. His game, however, was cut short after he picked up an injury.
The defender had a very good game as he patrolled the flank with skill and purpose. Caught out of position on a few occasions in the second half, but was generally sound defensively.
The winger looked anonymous for large parts of the game, but was at the right place at the right time when it mattered. Worked tirelessly once again in defensive sense and will be delighted with his goal.
Covered nearly 12.5 kilometres and gave Hertha's holding midfielders plenty to think about. Was calm and assured in possession and prolific in defence,
The Polish striker showed quick feet and great technique as he continues to impress in the absence of Mario Gotze. Played crucial role in the build-up to the opener and was unstoppable on the flank.
The captain delivered yet another impressive performance in the centre of the pitch. His passing was outstanding and he fought for every ball.
The Polish striker played in attacking midfield in this game and generally did well. Held the ball well, and forced the save from Kraft that lead to Grosskreutz's opener.
The Paraguay international was often beaten in the air and looked like he was lacking confidence. Often shrank from trying a dribble or a shot and will be disappointed to be replaced in the second half.

The Brazilian replaced Hummels in the second half. Played well in defence as BVB were holding on to the result.
Came on for Piszczek at half-time, but was hardly as impressive as the Poland international. Had a few good moments in defence, but disappointed with his crossing.
