Despite Cardiff's handsome possession, Stockdale was not overly worked. More confident than his opposite number when rushing off his line, and was powerless to prevent Caulker's header from hitting the back of the net.
Faced little in the way of an out-and-out winger, with Whittingham only nominally drifting out wide. Had little defensive work to do, but provided little impetus from full-back. When he did get forward, he was dangerous.
Often looked cumbersome and nervous, exuding little confidence at the back. Lost Caulker for the Cardiff skipper's goal, even if it was Sidwell that the 21-year-old out-jumped. Really struggled against the Bluebirds' set-piece potency.
Alongside Amorebieta, and despite the duo's considerable height, failed to contain Cardiff's set-piece threat. Bested by Campbell in open play and constantly worried in the air. A poor display from the centre-back.
Could have been taken off to make way for Ruiz, with both he and Kacaniklic largely ineffective. Struggled to affect the match in a meaningful way, and promising moves often broke down at his feet. Wasted several good chances too.
Incredibly negative and stationary in midfield, highlighted even more by the movement of the visitors. Stood idly by as Caulker rose highest to head Cardiff into the lead, though did head clear off the line moments later.
Pacey and direct, Kacaniklic was an occasional threat, though completely failed to produce the right end product. In need of more craft and creativity, he was sacrificed in the first half and replaced by Ruiz.
Once again preferred to John Arne Riise at left-back and provided a great deal of energy down the flank, though was occasionally flustered when put under pressure. Also needed more quality with his final ball.
Cut a frustrated figure up front for Fulham. Showed flashes of his near peerless technique, but could not influence the match in the manner he has done in the past. Grew a tad petulant and missed a great chance by heading over from close range.
Isolated up front, Bent was given precious few chances to stretch his legs, and when he was set free he wasted the opportunities with poor decisions and even worse control. At times, it was like Fulham were playing with 10 men. Mercifully substituted.
Made a fantastic, sprawling save to deny Karagounis, though could do nothing about Ruiz's curling effort that drifted in at the far post. A little nervous on crosses, though was not tested very much in truth.
Tasked with providing much of the width in Cardiff's narrow diamond formation, and got forward well without ever leaving his side overexposed. Had a header cleared off the line by Sidwell.

The 23-year-old brought tremendous energy down the right flank, bombing forward and hitting the by-line, though was occasionally a little overzealous, booked for a cynical foul on Kacaniklic.
The youngster, captaining the side today, struck the visitors' opening goal with a bullet header. He marshaled the defence well throughout, with Berbatov and Bent given little opportunity to show their class.
Formed a solid barrier alongside Caulker, with Bent barely even given a sniff of a chance. The centre-back was also a constant nuisance in the opposition box, posing a real threat in the air.
Drifted between the lines, linking play and probing the Cottagers' backline. Looked very tidy, though lacked a certain predatory quality and drifted too far from Campbell before being replaced by Mutch.
Showed some of the bite and tenacity which has earned him the nickname "Pitbull", but also organised the midfield and contributed to some slick approach play from the visitors. Should refrain from shooting from the edge of the box, though.
Interchanging with the rest of the Cardiff midfield, Whittingham was lively - if culpable of wasting good chances. It was his corner that produced the Bluebirds' opening goal.
A busy, hard-working presence in midfield, he provided much of the hard running and leg work, breaking forward into the box and tracking back.
Earned a start off the back of his goalscoring exploits in the Capital One Cup but never looked like netting at Craven Cottage. Never threatened Stockdale's goal and still adjusting to his new team-mates. Replaced by Bellamy.
Was provided with little service, though did a good job of holding up the ball with his back to goal and feeding his team-mates. Missed a great chance in the second half, prodding over from close range. Replaced by Maynard.
Came off the bench early on due to an injury sustained by Parker. Offered a little more zest than the England midfielder, though struggled against Cardiff's slick midfield diamond. Did produce a fine save from Marshall, though.
Desperately searching for inspiration, Jol brought on the Costa Rica international in the first half and he re-paid that boldness almost immediately, curling a sumptuous effort in from 25-yards. Drifted in/out of the match, though often dangerous.
Replaced Kim early in the second half though was far less cerebral than the South Korean. Busy in midfield, though Cardiff ceded some of their control following his introduction.
Came on in place of Cambell with 20 minutes remaining at Mackay looked for fresher legs up front. Worked hard as Fulham pushed forward.
