Roberto Martinez's side have dropped back into the Premier League relegation spots and face a second side chasing a top-four place in four days in the shape of the Toffees

Marouane Fellaini will miss the game as he serves the second of a three-game suspension for headbutting Ryan Shawcross.

Seamus Coleman faces a race against time to return to fitness in time. The Irish right-back missed the weekend's win over West Ham with a hamstring injury. Darron Gibson was sent off at Upton Park, but is available for this game as the Toffees are appealing the decision.

Kevin Mirallas (hamstring) and Tony Hibbert (calf) are definitely ruled out for David Moyes' side.

Roberto Martinez has seen his side decimated by injuries recently, particularly in defence but captain Gary Caldwell should make his return to the side.

Ivan Ramis, Adrian Lopez (both hamstring) and Antolin Alcaraz (groin) will be missing from the Latics' defence, although Ramis and Alcaraz could return over the festive period.

Ryo Miyaichi (ankle), Albert Crusat (knee) and Ben Watson (shin) are unavailable to Martinez in midfield.

  • Everton are undefeated in their last 12 Premier League home matches.
  • The Toffees' have drawn their last two games against Wigan, including a fixture at the DW stadium in October.
  • Arouna Kone's (pictured right) last Premier League goal was against West Brom on the November 10.
  • Wigan have lost six of their last seven away games in the Premier League.
  • The Latics have failed to beat Everton in their last six attempts, drawing four of those games.
  • The last six matches between the two sides have seen a total of 24 yellow cards been shown.

The striker has failed to replicate his form of last season scoring only six goals so far this term. Marouane Fellaini's absence will be noticeable from the Toffees' attacks, so the pressure will be on the Croatia international to threaten a Wigan defence that has been much-chnaged in recent weeks.

F. Di Santo

Position: Attacker

Games: 0

The fleet-of-foot attacker has proven to be too much to handle for defenders in the past, winning 29 fouls this season already. Di Santo's last Premier League goal came in the 2-2 draw with Everton at the DW Stadium in October and the 23-year-old will undoubtedly be looking to pick up from where he left off in that tie.

Editor's Prediction

The Latics felt aggrieved to have lost to Arsenal at the weekend after putting in a gritty defensive display, and they may need to put in an even better performance if they are to take anything home from Goodison Park. David Moyes' side have been incredibly strong on their own patch this season and, coupled with Wigan's woeful recent record on their travels, should seal a Boxing Day win.
