  • That's all from me for this afternoon guys and girls, I hope you enjoyed that 99 minutes of fun. Goodbye!
  • FULL-TIME: EVERTON 0-0 TOTTENHAM The hosts remain unbeaten at home in 2013, while Spurs move up into fourth, after a game that will be remembered for two penalty decisions not given by the referee Kevin Friend. Both incidents involved Vertonghen and Coleman, with both fouling the other inside the opposition box either side of half-time. A late flurry of chances for both sides could not produce a goal, as the shares were spoiled in Merseyside.
  • 90' + 9'
We've had 99 minutes, but not a goal in one. It's full-time here at Goodison Park, 0-0 the scoreline.
  • 90' + 8'
GOOD PLAY FROM DEULOFEU! The young forward helps out defensively for his side by dispossessing Vertonghen as the left-back surged forward with the ball.
  • 90' + 6'
Townsend cuts in from the right, not for the first time today, and crashes a shot towards goal, that unfortunately for Spurs is straight into the arms of Howard.
  • 90' + 5'
Spurs have burst into life in added time. Eriksen has just had a volley blocked, while Sigurdsson has also dragged a shot wide with his left foot.
  • 90' + 4'
WHAT A DELIVERY! The Danish wizard fires the free kick into the six-yard box but there are no Spurs players attacking the ball and it bounces out for a throw-in on the far side.
  • 90' + 3'
The away side have a free kick over on the right-hand side near the corner flag after a needless foul on Soldado by Distin. Eriksen is teeing it up...
  • 90' + 2'
All by myself... Soldado has been increasingly isolated in this game as Everton have taken control. Spurs are resorting to hopeful punts forward towards the Spaniard and he nods the ball on to nobody.
  • 90' + 1'
There will be NINE minutes of added time here!
  • 90'
Barkley thunders past Dawson on the left but the English defender then does well to get back in position and block the attacker's cross inside the penalty area.
  • 89'
Paulinho acrobatically volleys a corner from Baines clear as Everton turn up the pressure in the final minutes of normal time.
  • 88'
WELL, LLORIS IS FINE BY THE LOOKS OF IT! The Frenchman comes flying off his line to block at the feet of Deulofeu brilliantly after the youngster had breezed past three Spurs players on his way into the box.
  • 87'
Spurs then make their final substitution, as Holtby trudges off to be replaced by Eriksen.
  • 86'
    SubstitutionLewis Holtby Christian Eriksen
  • 86'
    SubstitutionRomelu Lukaku Nikica Jelavic
  • 86'
Lukaku, quite unbelievably, appears to have come off worse in that collision with Lloris. He makes way for Nikica Jelavic as Everton make their final change. Spurs fans will not welcome that switch – the Croatia international scored the winner against them in a 2-1 win 11 months ago.
  • 85'
Baines saunters down the left for the hosts, but his run is brought to an end by a tackle from Walker.
  • 84'
STAT: Spurs have not recorded a win on the road against Everton since February 2007.
  • 83'
That delay will mean we have a fair deal of added time at the end of this game. The score, don't forget, is still 0-0. A win for either side today would catapult them into second place in the league.
  • 81'
Everton's fans are booing Lloris, which makes no sense whatsoever. The France international has taken his place in the Spurs box, and has hammered the free kick upfield.
  • 80'
This is very strange. Lloris seems to be arguing with his teammates and saying he wants to complete the game. His captain Dawson is advising him to make way for Friedel, but the Frenchman is adamant about staying on.
  • 79'
Brad Friedel is warming up for Spurs. Lloris looks like he wants to continue, but the medical team should really insist on him being substitute here, he took a crunching blow to the head.
  • 78'
    Yellow CardRomelu Lukaku
  • 78'
A diagonal ball towards Lukaku by Barry is claimed bravely by Lloris, who receives a knee in the face for his troubles. The Spurs man is down and receiving treatment following that clash, while Lukaku is shown a yellow card, which is somewhat harsh as he was clearly challenging for the ball and did not mean to catch the Frenchman.
  • 77'
This game has burst to life since the introduction of Barkley, Deulofeu and Sigurdsson. I would be very surprised if it ended goalless.
  • 76'
GOOD STOP FROM HOWARD!! The American goalkeeper pushes away Sigurdsson's curling shot from 20 yards after some positive play from Townsend for the visitors.
  • 74'
Spurs look to counter after a heavy touch from Pienaar on the left, but not for the first time they are lacking in ideas as they get into the final third. Vertonghen gets the ball on the left-hand side but he is pushed back by some good pressing by Deulofeu.
  • 72'
More fine attacking play from Everton sees Lukaku flick McCarthy's cross from the right just wide. The hosts are in search of a winner here.
  • 71'
GREAT DEFENDING FROM DAWSON! The Spurs captain earns this weeks' wages with a last-ditch tackle on Barkley six yards out, as the Everton sub looked to connect with Deulofeu's cross from the right.
  • 70'
STAT: Spurs have kept a dozen clean sheets in their last 16 matches in all competitions - winning 13 of them, losing only to Arsenal and West Ham, and drawing against Chelsea.
  • 69'
Everton win a corner as McCarthy's athletic volley from 20 yards is deflected behind by Sigurdsson. That effort looked destined for the bottom right corner!
  • 68'
    SubstitutionAaron Lennon Gylfi Sigurdsson
  • 68'
    Yellow CardPaulinho
  • 68'
Spurs try and shake things up a bit by making their second change. Gylfi Sigurdsson – who scored a divine goal in the Capital One Cup game against Hull on Wednesday – is the man that is introduced.
  • 67'
The first half was all Tottenham and this second one has been all about the home team. Villas-Boas' side have faded while Martinez's men are in the ascendancy.
  • 66'
EVERTON ARE SCREAMING FOR A PENALTY! Coleman bursts into the Spurs box on the right and is clearly clipped by the recovering Vertonghen. Mr Friend repeats his decision involving the same players at the opposite end from the first half, by waving play on! Everton's fans are furious!
  • 65'
And then you've got Barkley too – who has been fantastic in his breakthrough season for the Merseyside club, linking particularly well with Lukaku.
  • 64'
The young Spaniard, on loan from Barcelona, is one tricky customer indeed. He excelled for the Barcelona B side last season and has looked brilliant at youth level for Spain. Let's see if he can make a difference for the Toffees!
  • 63'
    SubstitutionLeon Osman Ross Barkley
  • 63'
    SubstitutionKevin Mirallas Gerard Deulofeu
  • 63'
Ooooh, that's an exciting couple of substitutions. On come Gerard Deulofeu and Ross Barkley, at the expense of Mirallas and Osman.
  • 62'
"Anything you can do I can do better", sings Martinez in his head, as he prepares to make a double substitution for the home side.
  • 61'
    SubstitutionSandro Mousa Dembele
  • 61'
Dembele is set to be introduced for Spurs. Sandro makes way for him, which takes our tally of Belgian players on the pitch up to four.
  • 60'
LET-OFF FOR HOWARD!! The Everton goalkeeper miscues a clearance straight into the path of Holtby, and he breathes a HUGE sigh of relief as Distin is able to dispossess the German.
  • 59'
Distin appeared to suffer an injury as a result of those heroics, but the magic sponge has done its job once again and the Everton centre-back is back on his feet and looks fit to continue.
  • 58'
BRILLIANT DEFENDING FROM DISTIN! The Frenchman throws out a leg to block Paulinho's goalbound effort from 15 yards, after the Brazil international had pirouetted like a ballerina inside the Everton penalty area.
  • 57'
Everton's possession dominance is back. They have had 60% of the ball in the opening 12 minutes of this second half.
  • 55'
VITAL BLOCK FROM DAWSON! The Spurs captain throws himself in front of a shot from Pienaar, which had looked to be curling on target.
  • 54'
Lukaku controls a high ball superbly with his chest on the edge of the Spurs box and again plays in Mirallas. The move results in a corner, as Mirallas' effort is blocked behind by Dawson.
  • 53'
Despite their wayward passing the Toffees have already looked brighter in the first eight minutes of this half than they did at any point in the previous 45. Lukaku is seeing much more of the ball, while Baines has had a couple of chances to bomb forward down the left.
  • 52'
What's happened to all that pretty Martinez-inspired passing that Everton have been doing this season? Their distribution has been very poor today, which is inviting pressure on their defence.
  • 50'
The Everton attacker is booked in the aftermath of losing the ball, following a rant at the linesman on the near side who awarded Spurs a goal kick.
  • 49'
Everton surge forward from that Jagielka clearance and have three on two as Lukaku bursts into the Spurs box. He feeds the ball into the slipstream of Mirallas, but the Belgium international is dispossessed quite brilliantly by the sliding Chiriches just as he shapes to shoot.
  • 48'
    Yellow CardKevin Mirallas
  • 48'
Walker whips an inviting cross towards Soldado at the near post but Jagielka is able to flick the ball away from danger.
  • 47'
CHANCE FOR SPURS! Townsend nicks the ball off the boot of Baines on the right and cuts it back to Holtby, but the German-born midfielder's shot is blocked by the considerable frame of Distin.
  • 46'
Spurs get us back underway at Goodison Park...
  • The worrying thing for Spurs fans is that Everton can only really get better in the second half. Will they come racing out of the blocks after the break and make Villas-Boas' men pay for their profligacy in front of goal? The second 45 minutes is coming right up!
  • STATS STATS STATS: Spurs have had 10 attempts on goal so far, four of which have tested Howard, while Everton have had two shots, neither of which have been on target. The home side have edged possession in every one of their league matches this season, but had just 42% of the ball in the first half today. They have also completed just 169 passes compared to Tottenham's 237.
  • HALF-TIME: EVERTON 0-0 TOTTENHAM The visitors have been dominant at Goodison Park but are yet to etch a 1 onto the scoreboard. Vertonghen has been rampant down the left against his Belgian counterpart Mirallas, while Townsend and Holtby have also looked bright for the away side. Everton, meanwhile, have barely threatened going forward, which could be due to Lukaku's lack of involvement in the opening 45 minutes. Much of the half-time interval will be spent discussing Coleman's unorthodox defending int he 23rd minute. The Everton right-back appeared to climb all over Vertonghen inside his own box but the referee waved play on.
  • 45' + 1'
    There is the half-time whistle!
  • 45'
Marvellous play from Vertonghen! The Spurs left-back steals the ball from Mirallas on the left, before controlling it with a neat back heel. He rumbles forward towards goal before unleashing a shot that is blocked en route by the midriff of Coleman.
  • 44'
Actually it is Mirallas that takes the set piece. Sandro makes amends for his error in conceding it though, by standing firm in the wall to nod the ball behind for a corner.
  • 43'
That slip from Sandro could cost Spurs! The midfielder loses his footing 25 yards from goal and his outstretched arms stops the ball from reaching Pienaar. Baines will certainly fancy this one...
  • 42'
Lukaku lets off a bit of steam on the right thigh of Dawson with a foul that reeks of frustration. The Everton forward has not seen too much of the ball in this first half, which is in stark contrast to his previous games this season, in which he has scored five goals and provided one assist.
  • 41'
His whipped cross is a good one, but Dawson and Chiriches are able to crowd out Osman on the six-yard line and head the ball away for Spurs.
  • 40'
Baines has a chance to dust off his wand and send a cross into the Spurs box after the hosts win a free kick through Mirallas on the right-hand side.
  • 38'
Shot number 25 of the season for Townsend a few moments ago. His only goal so far, of course, was actually a cross, against Aston Villa on October 21.
  • 37'
HALF-CHANCE FOR EVERTON!! Pienaar drifts in from the left and lifts a pass towards Lukaku at the back post, but Lloris is alert to the danger, quickly rushing off his line to catch the ball.
  • 36'
Spurs have come a long way since their midfield pairing of Wilson Palacios and Jermaine Jenas. Sandro and Paulinho have been brilliant in the centre of the park today, winning a series of tackles and starting attacks for their side.
  • 34'
Dawson panics under pressure from Pienaar and sends a hurried clearance straight into the path of Lukaku. The Belgian striker powers past Chiriches before trying to find Osman with a chipped pass, but it is blocked by Walker on the penalty spot.
  • 33'
STAT: Everton and Spurs have both hit the woodwork five times this season. Only the Toffees' Merseyside rivals Liverpool have hit the woodwork more often (eight).
  • 32'
Pienaar takes the corner, but it is a torrid one, curling out of play for a Spurs goal kick.
  • 31'
THERE'S LEIGHTON BAINES! The Everton full-back loves an amble forward but he has been pinned back by Spurs so far, until now. He combines well with Pienaar to win a corner for the hosts, their first of the match.
  • 30'
Chiriches puts his centre-back partner Dawson in a spot of bother with an overcooked pass across the box, but the Spurs captain is just able to hoof the ball upfield under pressure from Pienaar.
  • 29'
Everton threaten for the first time as Osman is afforded far too much time and space on the ball by Sandro and Paulinho. The twice-capped England international is invited forward by Spurs and he happily obliges them before firing a rising effort just over Lloris' crossbar from 25 yards.
  • 27'
The Lilywhites have been accused of being dull by some of their supporters – who in turn have been criticised by Villas-Boas lately – but their start to this game has been far from tepid. They have been all over Everton like a rash!
  • 26'
Holtby plays a one-two with Howard's fists from the set piece before rifling a shot goalwards that is pushed away well by the American.
  • 25'
More decent play from Spurs results in a corner as Soldado weaves his way past a couple of challenges inside the Everton box before flicking the ball off the legs of Baines and behind.
  • 24'
Friend is making no friends here... Now Walker is left bemused after he is quite cynically blocked by former Spurs man Steven Pienaar but does not get a free kick.
  • 23'
Spurs feel they should have a penalty after Vertonghen tumbles to the deck under pressure from Coleman, but Kevin Friend waves play on rather emphatically. That could easily have been given you know, the full-back had got the wrong side of Coleman and it looked like the Everton man did catch him.
  • 21'
Vertonghen is marauding forward to good effect for the away side, just like all talented full-backs do. Mirallas and Seamus Coleman are struggling to follow the former Ajax man's runs so far as he goes inside and outside.
  • 20'
STAT: Spurs have had six attempts on goal so far, two of which have been on target. Everton have had zero.
  • 19'
It is the right-back that eventually takes on the set piece mantle, and his fierce curling effort is parried away well by Howard, who is having to deal with some blazing Merseyside sunshine in his eyes in this first half.
  • 18'
Holtby and Walker are in deep discussion about who should take this one...
  • 17'
    Yellow CardJames McCarthy
  • 17'
Two Belgium internationals clash on the far side as Vertonghen bundles his way past Mirallas. The Everton wideman fails to steal the ball off the Spurs full-back, who is then unceremoniously dumped to the floor by James McCarthy 25 yards from goal, which results in ANOTHER free kick for Villas-Boas' side.
  • 16'
STAT: Townsend has had 24 shots from outside the box this season for Spurs, only one fewer than Hull City have in total. The nippy winger has had two efforts from long range already in this game.
  • 15'
Spurs waste another set piece as Holtby's corner from the left is cleared by Osman. The away side have been much the better side in the opening quarter of an hour here, with Everton yet to threaten going forward.
  • 13'
A fabulous crossfield ball from Chiriches sets Vertonghen away on the left for the visitors, but he only has Soldado available inside the Everton box and Distin is able to head the Belgium international's cross away fairly comfortably.
  • 12'
CONTEXT: Lewis Holtby supported Everton as a youngster, as did his father. The attacking midfielder's dad has flown over with friends from Germany to cheer on the Toffees this afternoon. I'd expect a difficult atmosphere in the Holtby household this evening should Spurs leave Goodison with all three points...
  • 11'
Townsend shimmies in from the right wing for Spurs to push the ball on to his favoured left foot, but his eventual shot is blocked effectively by the rear of Baines.
  • 10'
    Yellow CardTim Howard
  • 10'
GOOD DEFENSIVE WORK FROM LUKAKU! The Everton frontman helps out in his own penalty area to clear Holtby's free kick with a thumping header as Soldado lurked behind him.
  • 9'
Spurs have a free kick in a dangerous position on the right-hand side now, after the electric Townsend was caught by Baines.
  • 8'
SLOPPY FROM MIRALLAS! The Belgian attacker is caught offside on the right as he tries to get behind Vertonghen and latch on to a pass from Osman.
  • 7'
Everton have not really been at the races in the early exchanges here. Spurs have cut through their defence on a couple of occasions already, and only some alert play from Jagielka and Distin has stopped Soldado and Lennon from getting shots away.
  • 6'
It's been all Spurs so far! Jan Vertonghen has just done brilliantly to work his way into the Everton box on the left, but his cutback towards Lennon is intercepted vitally by Sylvain Distin.
  • 5'
Townsend repeats the trick by shooting from some way out, but his effort does not have the accuracy of Sandro's attempt and the ball flies out for a goal kick to the hosts.
  • 4'
STRONG DIVING STOP FROM HOWARD! Sandro forces the Everton shot-stopper into a smart sprawling save low to his left after unleashing a dipping effort from long range. An early sight of goal for the Brazilian, who has scored just twice for the North London side since joining them in 2010.
  • 2'
Jagielka drives a searching pass towards the hulking figure of Lukaku but there is too much on the throughball and it bounces all the way through to Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal.
  • 1'
Off we go at Goodison. Everton get the ball rolling in this first half...
  • The players are lining up to observe a minute's silence around the centre circle, after a number of wreathes have been laid down by members of the armed forces and the captains of both sides.
  • Out come the teams at Goodison, led by members of the armed forces, as Everton mark Remembrance Sunday, as they visit Crystal Palace next weekend.
  • SPURS TEAM NEWS: Andre Villas-Boas fields exactly the same line-up that laboured past Hull last weekend, as Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembele drop to the bench and Sandro and childhood Everton fan Lewis Holtby start. Roberto Soldado continues up front for the Lilywhites. He is supported today by the attacking trio of Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and Hotlby.
  • EVERTON TEAM NEWS: There is one change to the side that beat Aston Villa, as Leon Osman is included at Ross Barkley's expense. Martinez names the same goalkeeper and back four that have started every league game so far this season, while the in-form Romelu Lukaku continues upfront for the Toffees.
  • SUBS: Friedel, Kaboul, Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela, Sigurdsson, Defoe
  • SPURS (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Walker, Chiriches, Dawson, Vertonghen; Paulinho, Sandro; Lennon, Holtby, Townsend; Soldado
  • SUBS: Robles, Jelavic, Oviedo, Deulofeu, Naismith, Barkley, Stones
  • EVERTON (4-2-3-1): Howard; Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; McCarthy, Barry; Pienaar, Osman, Mirallas; Lukaku
  • The teamsheets are in, so let's have a quick peak at those ahead of kick-off...
  • My name is Charlie Scott, by the way, and I'm the man tasked with guiding you through the twists and turns of the match on Merseyside this afternoon.
  • The home side currently sit just one point and one place behind their opponents in seventh place in the league table. They will be full of hope going into this fixture, against a side that have not won at Goodison Park in their last seven attempts.
  • Everton have picked up 28 points from their last 10 Premier League matches at home, yet Spurs have won five successive away matches in all competitions and have conceded just the one goal on their league travels this season. If either side win today they will go second, three points off Arsenal – so there is a rather juicy carrot tempting both managers to go out and attack this afternoon.
  • Something's gotta give.
  • Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and welcome to our LIVE commentary of Tottenham's trip to Goodison Park, where they face an Everton team that have been revitalised this season under the tutelage of Roberto Martinez following David Moyes' departure.
