The American made a wonderful save from Dirk Kuyt's 44th-minute penalty, diving at full-stretch to his left. Could do nothing about either goal but looked shaky under high balls.
Crazy clearance straight into Suarez gifted the Liverpool striker the chance to seal the result. Did some good things but brainless at times.
Reliable performance from the right-back before he was replaced by Vellios 12 minutes from time.
A busy and bustling performance from the Irishman, who got through a lot of hard work defensively as Everton doubled up on Adam.
Offered a good attacking outlet on the left before Rodwell's sending off but then had to concentrate on defensive duties. Good positioning but made some defensive errors, not least when he allowed Suarez a free header in the six-yard box and lost Carroll for the opener.
Gave away the penalty with an unnecessary challenge on Suarez and nowhere near Carroll for the opener. Strong in one-on-one situations but this was a poor performance.
Very unfortunate to be sent-off following what seemed a perfectly reasonable challenge on Suarez in the 23rd minute. Until that moment, the young midfielder had the better of his battle with Adam.
A calming influence in the Everton midfield, although he lacked the yard of pace to set the hosts off on quick counter-attacks. Rarely panicked in possession and his passing was efficient.
Strong and committed in the first half as he set the tempo for the hosts but he clearly tired as the game went on.
Returned to the side as the focal point of Everton's attack and led the line well. Played with pace and strength and looked to fire shots at goal, twice fizzing the ball just wide of the post.
Started up front and superb header across goal forced Reina into a diving save. Moved to left midfield after Rodwell's red card and was defensively disciplined.
Mainly a watching brief for the Spaniard but he made an excellent early save to keep out Cahill's goalbound header.
The Slovakian produced a confident performance. Solid in the air and anticipated play well.
A combative display from a man who knows all about the demands of this derby. Maybe should have got closer to Saha on a couple of occasions when he allowed the Frenchman to turn.
Solid performance from the young right-back. Good composure and relatively untroubled while offering a threat when he made forward runs.
Composed defensively and always an attacking threat with his sweet left foot and eye for a pass. Excellent forward run and cross to set up Carroll's goal.
A quiet game from the winger, who spent most of the game on the fringes of the action. Replaced by Bellamy in the 67th minute.
Kept Liverpool ticking along by winning the ball and then playing simple passes. Shooting was well off target.
Struggled to get to the pace of the game in the first half but nearly opened the scoring with a cracking effort from 20 yards that smashed against the crossbar. Replaced by Gerrard in the 67th minute.
The relief on his face as he celebrated his first goal in more than 11 hours of Premier League football said it all. Close-range finish was well taken but it shouldn't disguise a poor display from the £35m man, who still looks like he is lacking sharpness.
Failed to add to his impressive record against Everton as he missed from the spot for the first time in his Liverpool career. Worked hard as ever but lacked quality on the ball.
The Uruguayan infuriated Everton fans with his perceived diving and theatrics, first in Rodwell's sending off and then in the award of the penalty. But he's a brilliant footballer and was Liverpool's main threat throughout the game. Scored with a simple finish from close range to wrap up the points.

Replaced Coleman in the 59th minute and looked quick and skillful on the left wing.
Replaced Osman in the 69th minute, performing a solid job first in midfield and then at right-back.
- 20 R. Barkley
- 11 D. Stracqualursi
Came on for Hibbert 12 minutes from time but had little impact.
- 32 Doni
- 16 S. Coates
- 38 J. Flanagan
Came on in the 67th minute to a huge roar. Kept it simple in possession after the Reds took the lead and one deflected shot just missed the target.
Replaced Lucas in the 88th minute.
- 20 J. Spearing
Introduced in the 67th minute as a replacement for Downing and added energy to Liverpool in attack. Linked up well with Enrique in the build-up to Carroll's opener.
