Came flying to collect a couple balls he had no right to claim and missed them but luckily the mistakes came to nothing. Didn’t have a great deal to do other than that.
Was a caught out of position a couple of times but the covering work of his other defenders meant that no damage was done. The high line got them into trouble in the second half as Bent exploited the weakness.
Provided a solid base at right back but didn’t get involved as much as he could have done in some attacks.
Worked very hard for his team but saw little of the ball and so didn’t have a great impact on the game. No surprise when substituted early on.
Was questionably booked in the first half but much as Neville did, provided a good base for Everton to defend.
Looked solid on the ball and helped moving forward and defended well enough despite having little to do. Scored the club's vital equaliser.
Needlessly got himself booked for a silly challenge on Agbonlahor in the first half but commanded his defence as they held a high line to catch Bent and Co. offside. Offside trap didn't work in the second half as they were caught out at times. Won the penalty but will be disappointed with taking a tumble.
Much maligned midfielder was bright for the hosts, always keen to get on the ball and provided the assist for Osman’s goal.
He has that happy knack of getting goals. Despite not being in the game for large periods, Osman got in the right position to slot home in the first half. He could and perhaps should have added to that in the second half though.
Marshalled in front of the Everton back four expertly to prevent any Villa attacks. Much of the threat bypassed him though as Villa looked for long balls to move forward.
Worked very hard for the team, often chasing down lost causes but will be disappointed not to have scored when released through on goal early in the first half.
Made two outstanding saves, one from Beckford early in the first half and and another point black from Osman. Appeared to be unsighted for Osman’s goal.
Despite playing at left back numerous times now, he still looked like he would be far more comfortable on the other side of the pitch. Too often went for a long clearance rather than a short pass.
Looked solid enough dealing with the one striker of Everton and couldn’t be faulted for the goal.
Similar to Dunne in that for much of the game looked untroubled by the Everton.
Worked extremely hard in the Villa engine room but was largely bypassed as both teams looked for long balls forward.
Similar to Reo Coker in that he put in the hard yards and won the ball back well for Villa without ever really influencing play with his feet.
Today’s skipper looked subdued on the right hand side and didn’t provide much for his team. Looked isolated out on the left hand side and would have preferred to have been on the right. Showed instinctive skills when setting Bent through on goal for the second.
Had a very bright start to the game cutting in on his left foot very well but petered out towards the end of the first half. Provided an excellent pass for Bent’s equaliser.
Did what every good striker does and that is score goals. Presented with two chances and the England man made no mistake with either of them.
Was everything that Bent wasn't. Hard working, ran the channels and crucially didn't score.
