  • 90'
    Yellow CardJohn Terry
Terry is booked for time wasting. He looks to find an option from the throw in but the time he took was ridiculous. It means he will miss the Carling Cup match in mid-week. Sceptics may see that as tactical from the captain.
  • 87'
Torres spearheads an attack accompanied on either side of him, he takes the wrong option and his ball to Lampard is cut out by the Wolves defence.
  • 83'
    SubstitutionSteven Fletcher Adlène Guedioura
Fletcher seeming took a knock as he went down on the far side of the pitch, he seems to be running ok as he comes off, but McCarthy may well just be protect the player who has already been out for a large chunk of the season.

  • 75'
    SubstitutionRonald Zubar Anthony Forde

    SubstitutionRaúl Meireles Frank Lampard
Chelsea's top scorer in the league, Lampard, comes on for Meireles. That is a positive swap from the manager. Chelsea fans will be wanting more goal from this game.

Play is being kept mostly in the middle of the park, both teams not committing whole heartedly to an attack in recent plays, but swing in a deep cross but again no one is able to connect to the ball in the box.
  • 64'
Drogba runs at Johnson on the left, Cole's overlapping run creates space for the striker who takes the opportunity to take a pop at goal. His effort is good but just off target and Hennessey watches it go wide.
  • 59'
Fantastic effort from Chelsea Ramires starts a counter attack and passes the ball onto Sturridge who leaves Berra for dead with his pace. He cuts in and shoots from a tight angle, and Hennessey pushes it wide with relative ease, he maybe should have looked up he had team mates in the box.

  • 46'
Wolves get the second half under way, let's see if Mick McCarthy's side can turn this around.
  • McCarthy will not be happy with his side who have been lacklustre at best, not really conjuring a decent attempt up in the first half, the manager will have to make drastic changes just to ensure it's not a drubbing today.
  • Mata has taken this half, getting assists for both Terry and Sturridge's goals and then getting on the score sheet late in the half as well. Other than that he has been brilliant playing a free role in the gap behind Drogba.
  • The two teams finish for the first half. Wolves will be disappointed with their performance which has handed Chelsea a well deserved 3-0 lead in the first period.

3-0!!! The provider of the first two scores his own. Drogba controls a ball fantastically in the air to take it round Johnson he charges towards the box but his shot is deflected wide. Drogba collects the ball again plays it to Cole who delivers a ball into Mata who fires into the back of the net.

Sturridge takes advantage of poor defending, he cuts in from the right without the hindrance of a challenge, he unleashes a shot fired toward the top right hand corner of the goal, but Hennessey again makes a good save to keep the score at 2-0.
  • 38'
    SubstitutionNenad Milijas Sylvan Ebanks-Blake
Mick McCarthy makes an unconventional decision, to make a tactical substitution so early in the game as Ebanks-Blake comes on for Milijas who seems to be showing no sign of injury.
  • 35'

    GoalDaniel Sturridge
2-0, Sturridge grabs a second! Mata makes a good run past Zubar riding a strong challenge from the defender. After that its easy street as he plays a confident ball into the path of Sturridge in the middle of the box who converts with ease.
  • 17'
    Yellow CardDavid Edwards
Sturridge this time plays a nice ball down the right wing to unleash Ramires on the counter. He meets the ball but touches it past Edward's and draws the foul, resulting in a yellow card for the Wolves player.

Chelsea's pace down the wings is really causing Wolves problems so far, with Ramires and Meireles controlling the game from the middle of the park.

  • 3'
Raul Meireles has an early chance as a throw in finds the midfielder on the edge of the box, without any real options he tries a shot. Although it looked poor it crept dangerously close to Hennessey's left post.
  • 1'
Richard Stearman's injury will be a blow to Wolves today, as I'm sure they would have been looking for their regular defenders to step up to the challenge of containing the attacking quality of Chelsea.
  • Chelsea get another corner as a floated corner from Cole goes over the head of Elikobi and finds Sturridge past the back post. His effort to nod the ball back in is deflected off of the defender. The corner again troubles Wolves as three defenders at the front post fail to get a meaningful touch on the ball, Wolves were only saved by their fortune as no Chelsea attackers were nearby.
  • A shot from distance from Ivanovic causes panic in the Wolves box and Johnson gets a head to it, but it falls to a lingering Drogba. His first touch is good but his second is poor and is intercepted and played out of danger.
  • Richard Stearman's injury will be a blow to Wolves today, as I'm sure they would have been looking for their regular defenders to step up to the challenge of containing the attacking quality of Chelsea.
  • Even with Chelsea's somewhat inconsistent form of late I still can't see any way of Wolves leaving Stamford Bridge with all three points today, but Mick McCarthy's side have been known to cause the big teams some trouble in the past.
  • Andre Villas-Boas will be delighted to be able to welcome back Ashley Cole was absent for their mid-week defeat in the Champions League. Yet the manager has chosen young Romeu instead of the normally ever present Lampard to try and turn around the fortunes of his Chelsea side.
  • Wolves starting XI: Hennessey; Zubar, Johnson, Berra, Elokobi; Henry, Milijas, Edwards, Jarvis; Ward, Fletcher. Subs: De Vries, Craddock, Doherty, Hammill, Guedioura, Forde, Ebanks-Blake.
  • Chelsea's starting XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Romeu, Meireles; Sturridge, Drogba, Mata. Subs: Turnbull, Bosingwa, Mikel, Lampard, Malouda, Kalou, Torres.
