N. Anelka 53'
F. Malouda 83'
West Bromwich Albion
S. Long 4'
And that is fulltime at Stamford Bridge. The match finishes 2-1 to Chelsea and Andre Villas-Boas' first match at Stamford Bridge ends in three points for last years Premier League runner-ups.
90' + 4'
West Brom looking for a late goal, but they're going about it the wrong way as they continuously boot the ball up towards Long and Odemwingie, however Hilario is getting every single one.
90' + 1'
Yellow Card Peter Odemwingie
90' + 1'
The Chelsea players are now acting ridiculously towards Odemwingie. First Terry squares up to him for accidentally standing on his ankle, then Cole gets away with a horrible tackle on him.
Yellow Card John Terry
West Brom should have scored there! A ball comes in from the right and Odemwingie was waiting at the back-post, but his volley was straight at Hilario. That really should have been an equaliser there!
Bosingwa almost made a costly mistake as his attempted flick fell to Morrison, but the midfielder's first touch was poor.
Assist José Bosingwa
Goal Florent Malouda
GOAL!!! Chelsea take the lead! Bosingwa did brilliantly to skip between two West Brom players down the right before crossing and Malouda came in at the back post and made no mistake putting it past Foster.
Ben Foster almost gave Chelsea the lead! Anelka was released down the right but Foster came charging out. The 'keeper was effectively in no-man's-land, but Anelka's shot went just wide. Poor decision by Foster there.
Lampard with a chance now. The ball was bouncing around the area, but wouldn't fall to a decent height, but Lampard got a shot away anyway, but it looped over.
West Brom working so hard here. The midfielders are everywhere at the minute.
Good clearance by West Brom as Chelsea attack down the left. Malouda got into the box before going over very easily, but Cole took over his work and forced a shot goalwards, but the shot is saved and eventually cleared.
Chelsea pressurizing through Anelka and Ramires as the two link-up down the right, but thanks to an unfortunate ricochet, the ball leaves Ramires' feet, but he does win a corner.
This time it's Drogba with the chance! The big Ivorian looks to get on the end of a long-ball from Ivanovic but his left foot doesnt quite connect with the pass and he misses the ball. Had he got good contact on that it would've been a great chance given that he was only 6 yards out.
Decent chance for Anelka as he gets on the end of a flick-on, but under the pressure of Foster puts the ball over.
Despite looking more dangerous than the first half, they do still seem to be missing that little bit of creativity through the middle.
Good try by Drogba. Mikel picked out Ramires left of the box before the Brazilian played a ball hard and low towards Drogba, but he can't quite direct the ball on goal.
Great save by Hilario! Long did well to pick out the Nigerian who kept possession well before attempting to curl a left-footed shot towards the top far corner, but the Portuguese 'keeper leapt to put the ball behind for a corner.
Yellow Card Jonas Olsson
Chelsea putting on all the pressure here as West Brom stuggle to get out of their own half.
Chelsea could have scored twice there! Firstly Anelka has a shot saved well by Foster, and then as Malouda looked certain to bury the rebound, Reid made a great last-ditch block to keep the scores level.
Should have been a second for West Brom! Morrison did well to get past Ramires in the right-back area before crossing to the far post, but the unmarked Scharner couldn't hit the target.
Assist Frank Lampard
Goal Nicolas Anelka
GOAL!!!!! Chelsea equalise! Nicolas Anelka gets past one tackle on the right-edge of the box before looking to skip past Olsson and shoot, but his shot is deflected off the Swede and nestles in the bottom far corner.
A decent start to the second half in terms of football, but neither side has impressed with their passing in these first few minutes.
Chris Brunt has a free-kick on the right hand side, but a free-kick is given for Chelsea. Meanwhile Didier Drogba is warming up, getting a rapturous applause at the same time.
And we're back underway at Stamford Bridge.
Haltime at Stamford Bridge and West Brom probably deserve their 1-0 lead.
Yellow Card Y. Mulumbu
That was close for Chelsea there! Alex took a free-kick in a dangerous area, but the ball, via atleast one deflection, fortuitously ends up in Fosters hands, but he was lucky.
Penalty shouts for Chelsea, but the ref wasn't interested. A Malouda cross results in Anelka and Foster going for the ball as it bobbled around infront of the goal, but despite not getting much of the ball, Foster only concedes a corner.
Malouda has certainly offered more threat down the left since coming on as he is a proper outlet on the wing, rather than Kalou who looked to come inside more often than not.
Just after saying the match was going quiet, Cole forces Foster into a top save. The leftback was invited to attack the West Brom box and shot from just outside, but Foster dived towards the far post and knocked it wide.
Chelsea are struggling to contain Tchoyi whose physicality has caused problems all game so far. The match has gone quiet in the past few moments. Both sides almost seem to be waiting for the halftime whistle.
The Kalou substitution was an example of Villas-Boas showing his authority, not afraid to make subs so early on. There didn't appear to anything wrong with Kalou in terms of injuries.
Yellow Card Frank Lampard
Chelsea finally applying a bit of pressure, but it hasn't bore fruit yet. With just over half an hour gone, Florent Malouda looks like he set to come on.
Chelsea almost find that elusive final-ball. Anelka teased Reid before selling him a dummy and then playing a reverse-ball through the defender's legs, but Lampard's poked-attempt was blocked well by the impressive Tamas.
Golden opportunity for West Brom! Brunt once again plays a great ball, this time over the Chelsea defence for Long. The Irishman just had to play the ball square to Tchoyi, but his pass is poor. That really should have been 2-0.
Chance for Chelsea, albeit quite a tame one. Bosingwa whipped in a ball from the right but Anelka's header looped up and into Foster's hands.
Chelsea looking so blunt in attack. None of the three midfielders - Ramires, Mikel and Lampard - seem to be unable to create anything. Everytime they get the ball in a dangerous position they flatter to deceive. The only Chelsea player who looks like he could cause problems is Kalou.
Chance for Torres, but he puts it over! Kalou played a clever ball to the Spaniard, but under pressure from Steven Reid he blazed it over from 12 yards. The former Liverpool man's first real involvement.
West Brom win a corner after good work from Tchoyi. The visitors have definitely been the better side in the opening exchanges.
Brilliant opportunity for West Brom! Brunt plays a good ball for Scharner to run onto and he charges into the Chelsea box but decided to shoot from a narrow angle rather than square the ball into the box. Hilario made a good stop, as he should have from that angle.
Kalou should've done better there! The Ivorian cut in from the left skipping over a few challenges before shooting from just outside the box, but his effort was too high.
Chelsea fans getting frustrated as their side give the ball away once again in the West Brom half, this time through Anelka.
The final ball is what is lacking for Chelsea in these early stages. They have managed to get near the West Brom area, but when they do they are yet to find that killer-ball.
Half chance for Chelsea. The blues' midfield knocked the ball around well, playing one-touch football before sending out wide to Bosingwa. The Portugal international delivered a cross and Ramires - who was 18 yards out - got his head to it, but it went just wide.
Yellow Card Gabriel Sebastian Tamaş
Very refreshing to see a smaller club visit one of the so-called bigger clubs and start with two genuine attackers. West Brom haven't come here to sit-back and defend.
Goal Shane Long
GOAL!!!!! It's Shane Long! Disastrous defending from Alex as he gifts possession to the Irishman and the former Reading man didn't look back as he surged down on goal and confidently slotted past Hilario. Great start!
Chris Brunt almost plays Long in down the centre, but Hilario manages to beat the Irishman to the ball and heads away.
And we're underway at Stamford Bridge!
Ben Foster in the West Brom net has only had to make one save so far, a dreadful stat for Chelsea.
No Romelu Lukaku for Chelsea after he officially signed for the club yesterday whilst Peter Odemwingie has managed to claim a place on the West Brom bench following injury.
West Brom will start as follows: Foster; Reid, Tamas, Olsson, Shorey; Scharner, Mulumbu, Brunt, Morrison; Long, Tchoyi SUBS: Fulop, Cech, Jara, McAuley, Dorrans, Cox, Odenwingie
The Chelsea team for this evening is: Hilario; Bosingwa, Terry, Alex, Cole; Ramires, Mikel, Lampard; Anelka, Torres, Kalou SUBS: Turnbull, Yossi Benayoun, Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda, Branislav Ivanovic, Ferreira, Josh McEachran.
