The keeper was rarely tested and some poor defending let him down for the game's only goal. Other than conceding he had a run-of-the-mill performance and did not put a foot wrong.
Booked early on for a needlessly high leg on Nagatomo. He used his strength well to keep Coutinho from making an impact on the game. Showed his experience in a standard performance.
Got forward well early in the first half and stung Julio Cesar’s palms with an early shot. His influence faded as the game continued and he allowed Ranocchia too much freedom to head in the opening goal.

The Swiss was strong in the air as he won multiple headers in the box to keep Inter at bay. Put pressure on Pazzini in the 50th minute which was enough for him to miss the target. Extremely unfortunate to be on the losing side.
Stole the ball off Pazzini’s toe in the 31st minute to deny a scoring opportunity. He was strong when going for the ball and distributed it well.
Often left Maicon with too much space in the attacking right-hand areas but fortunately the Brazilian’s delivery was frequently poor. He recovered well at the end of the first half to clear a dangerous Inter attack. His knock down almost led to an equaliser in the 86th minute.
Looked comfortable on the ball and sprayed a number of fantastic passes around the field in an accomplished defensive midfield performance. A low drilled effort forced a great save from Julio Cesar on the hour mark.
Combative performance that included a good display of passing ability. Stole the ball from Obi in a dangerous area early in the second half but took too long to find Mutu in the area and lost the chance.
Pressed well as a lone striker and put in a great shift for his side but is still in search of his first goal for the club. He lacked the clinical nature of a solo striker and never looked like he would get on the score sheet.
Showed great pace and skill as he looked to take on the Inter defenders. A fantastic flick left Maicon clueless in the 24th minute but he was often too flashy which caused his accuracy to suffer.
His great effort in the 33rd minute had Julio Cesar scrambling. He looked hungry for the ball as he picked it up between the defence and midfield before looking to turn and shoot. Spent a lot of time on the ball but never worked a clear-cut opportunity.
Saved well from Mutu’s strike just after half hour and from Parolo with 60 minutes gone. He looked a bit edgy on the ball in the first half but dealt with what he faced well enough in the second. A great save from Ghezzal in the 86th minute ensured they took all three points.
A typically efficient performance from the veteran Argentine. He did not get forward as much as Ranieri would have liked but did well to limit the impact of Candreva alongside Maicon.
Mopped up well in the first half and was relatively solid for the rest of the game. He used his height to his advantage to nod in the only goal of the game as he and Lucio never looked truly stretched as a partnership.
Showed tremendous pace down the left flank as an attacking outlet in the first half. He sent a volley over the bar after 10 minutes and possibly should have hit the target. He went quiet in the second half and was rarely seen troubling Comotto.
Found a lot of space on the right hand side but his delivery was often poor until he supplied an excellent free kick for Ranocchia’s goal. It was a performance that showed why Daniel Alves has usurped him as Brazil's fixture at right-back.
Read the game well and looked to provide an attacking injection too. It was another rock solid display from the Brazil international despite giving the ball away a few too many times. He made some crucial interceptions that contributed to his side's clean sheet.
Drifted inside and showed small sparks of his potential but his delivery and link-up play left a lot to be desired. He was substituted at half time and left little impression on the game.
Policed the middle of the park as he looked to pick apart the Cesena attack. He did so a number of times as he frustrated the opposition's attacking line, rarely allowing Mutu enough time on the ball to do any damage.
It seemed his name was only mentioned when giving possession away in the first half. A number of careless passes contributed to a scrappy first half. He hardly made an impression on the game but did well enough alongside Cambiasso to occasionally win the ball.
The Italy international continues to struggle for form. His poor first touch meant he lost a chance to give his side the lead after 31 minutes. Dragged an awful attempt wide in the early stages of the second half and made another hopeless attempt midway through the final 45.
Looked really sharp on the ball as he cut in from the left, keeping it under tremendously close control. He only had one attempt in the first half that went over the bar. He cut a frustrated figure as he could have got on the scoresheet if he got more heavily involved in the play.

Was only given two minutes of normal time on the pitch and never got the chance to influence the game.

Tracked back well to help out his defence and almost levelled but his acrobatic effort was saved in the 86th minute.
Came on in the 68th minute but failed to make an impact on the game.

Not given enough time to influence the game. A stoppage-time shot forced a save from Antonioli.
Played the whole of the second half but provided nothing new to the side. Perhaps odd that Ranieri did not opt for Alvarez or Zarate in the wide area.

Came on for the final 10 minutes and so did not have enough time to make an impact.
