Maribor win Aggregate 2 - 1
Marcos Tavares 75'
Thanks for following along tonight. Until next time, which won't be for at least another year for Celtic now, goodbye!
They were afforded a second shot at the Champions League group stage but Marcos Tavares's goal late in the second half sends Celtic out at the play-off round for the first time in three years. It was a poor game but Kris Commons's introduction appeared to turn the second leg in the hosts' favour only for Emilio Izaguirre and Charlie Mulgrew failed to deal with Tavares's one real chance 15 minutes from time in the one telling moment throught.Van Dijk missed a glorious opportunity to force extra time seconds from the end but the pressure continues to mount on new manager Ronny Deila.
90' + 4'
And that's it! Celtic will not feature in the Champions League group stage for the first time in three years thanks to Tavares's late goal.
90' + 2'
Marcos Magno Morales Tavares
90' + 2'
That was the chance! Surely that was the chance for Celtic as Van Dijk hits the ball straight at Handanovic from six yards. Anywhere else and we would be set for extra time.
Celtic have FOUR more minutes to save their Champions League hopes.
Yellow CardDerk Boerrigter
Van Dijk earns a late yellow card as frustrations boil over. Celtic don't look like scoring at all ... then again, Maribor didn't before Tavares's strike...
Yellow CardVirgil van Dijk
We are entering last-chance saloon for Celtic now. They need a goal to force extra time.
Yellow CardMarcos Magno Morales Tavares
The deafening cheers from the home support have gone entirely. Just silence and the odd groan. What must Deila be thinking now? Celtic looked so comfortable.
Just under 10 minutes to go and Ambrose misses the target by inches as he looks to atone for earlier mistakes. So very, very close.
Yellow CardPetar Stojanovič
Maribor nearly grab a second and Mendy is simply allowed to skip around Ambrose, but Gordon makes the save.
GoalMarcos Magno Morales Tavares
GOAL!! Maribor have scored! Disaster for Celtic as Tavares loops the ball over Gordan after twice the hosts fail to clear their lines. The hosts are going out as it stands.
A third and final change for Celtic as Derk Boerrigter replaces Mikael Lusti.
Jo Inge Berget
The second change of the night for Celtic as Adam Matthews moves into the right-hand side of midfield, with Berget replaced.
Commons's introduction has definitely made an impact tonight as the substitute neatly chests the ball down before sending a fine effort whistling over the bar from 30 yards.
Mulgrew and Stokes both look to test the Maribor goal from efforts from the edge of the area but both are charged down by opposition defenders. Celtic are in the ascendency.
That his really livened up the team. A noticeable increased sense of urgency all of a sudden.
McGregor hits the bar! So close from the forward as he latches onto Stokes's cut back.
Yellow CardAleksander Rajčevič
Another half-chance for Celtic as Commons's low free kick almost falls to McGregor but Handanovic claims smartly at his feet.
Yellow CardMarko Suler
More of the same, unfortunately, from the home side as Maribor - albeit not successfully - are continually allowed time on the ball. The home crowd may be frustrated but the noise from the crowd is deafening.
Yellow CardKris Commons
And it takes less than three minutes for Commons to go into the referee's book as unsuccessfully appealing for a free kick. Hugely unfair for the second-half substitute.
Straight onto the attack for Celtic as Johansen finds Berget inside the area but the new signing cannot keep the ball in play.
A change for Celtic at the break as Kris Commons come on for Beram Kayal.
And we are back underway! If the scores stay as they are, Celtic will progress to the Champions League group stage.
As I just said, the game really lost it's quality in the final 10 minutes as Ronny Deila may well be concerned at the strength of his away-goal lead. Both teams need to up their game for the second half, though.
45' + 1'
And that's that for the first half. The referee calls an end to proceedings.
We will have one minute of added time.
The exciting opening 15-or-so minutes feels a long way off now as the game turns into a highly scrappy affair as we trip and stumble towards half time.
Celtic's best move of the night, involving five different players in and around the box, ends in disappointment as Mulgrew is tackled after a poor first touch. More groans from the home crowd.
Fair to say tonight has been frustrating for both sets of fans and players so far tonight. The quality really has been lacking on the whole.
Chance for Maribor after Celtic needlessly give away a free kick near the right-hand side corner flag. It's driven in low and Ambrose concedes the corner... which comes to nothing.
Celtic are starting to make a few mistakes in defence. Are nerves kicking in?
Best chance of the night for Maribor as Viler collects a fine cross-field pass to cut inside and hit a low drive at Craig Gordan which the goalkeeper parries and collects at the second attempt.
Midway through the first half here and neither side are giving an inch, in truth. Celtic have gone closest but Maribor are very much still in the tie.
Celtic go close again as Stokes's corner from the left is met by Virgil van Dijk, but the defender can only glance his header wide from six yards out.
Maribor may well be the team chasing the game tonight after Celtic away goal six days ago but they look in control at the moment and showing little urgency.
As I write Marcos Tavares darts into the area after Stefan Johansen loses possession but Virgil van Dijk is on hand to block an attempted shot.
Maribor are growing into the game but nothing of note just yet.
A weak shout for a penalty from Celtic as Petar Stojanovic appears to take down Jo Inge Berget as the winger cut in from the left but the referee is unconvinced.
First sight of goal for Maribor as Mendy looks to be played clear but Ambrose does well to clear at the first attempt inside his own area.
Maribor are evidently keen to get a foot on the ball after that early scare. Celtic continue to hurry their opponents though.
CLOSE! And what a left off for Maribor as Suler nearly toe-pokes the ball into his own net with Stokes's begging for the pass.
More impressive work from Lustig as he stops Mendy in his tracks around 30 yards from Celtic's goal but his first-time pass towards Stokes is easily intercepted.
An early half chance for Celtic as Lustig's early cross from the left-hand side whistles inches away from Stokes's head. Maribor clear.
And we are underway! Maribor start the game.
The teams are walking onto the pitch here. We are mere minutes away.
Celtic are, of course, aiming for a third successive qualification to the Champions League proper, and are aiming to do so with Kris Commons starting on the bench. An interesting selection choice by Ronny Deila, perhaps.
Kick off is at 19.45BST - which is in around 11 minutes - so strap in and see if Celtic can progress at the second time of asking.
So, the lay of the land is that the scores are currently level at 1-1 from the first leg, with Callum McGregor's goal in Slovenia giving tonight's hosts a very important away goal six days ago.
Maribor: Handanovic, Stojanovic, Rajcevic, Suler, Viler, Vrsic, Mertelj, Filipovic, Ibraimi, Mendy, Tavares. Subs: Cotman, Mejac, Sallalich, Zahovic, Dervisevic, Bohar, Arghus.
Celtic: Gordon, Lustig, Ambrose, van Dijk, Izaguirre, McGregor, Mulgrew, Johansen, Kayal, Berget, Stokes. Subs: Zaluska, Matthews, Biton, Boerrigter, Commons, Denayer, Griffiths.
First things first, let's get those all-important line-ups out...
Good evening everyone and welcome to Goal's coverage of Celtic crucial Champions League play-off second-leg clash against Maribor.
